Latest write up on Tryamkins play in playoffs..

    Mar. 8.

    Nikita Tryamkin

    Large and in charge.

The big Russian has been a rock on the Avtomobilist blue-line these KHL playoffs, laying crushing hits, making plays and conceding only one goal while he’s been on the ice in four games played.

Only problem is his team can’t score, and trail Sibir Novosibirsk 3-1 in their first-round series.

Tryamkin, 25, had a team-leading 21:31 of ice time, two hits, one blocked shot, one shot on net and an even rating in a 2-0 Game 1 loss on Monday.

In Wednesday’s 1-0 overtime loss, he was even better. Tryamkin had six shots on goal, three blocked shots, an even rating and two hits in 24:23 of ice time.

One of those hits was in self-defence and still sent a Sibir player home on a stretcher.

On the play, the Sibir player tried to take a run at Tryamkin as the 6-foot-8, 254-pounder shot the puck into the zone. Bad idea. Tryamkin braced for impact and the Sibir player bounced off him, writhing in pain.

There’s a reason we called him Tree in this neck of the woods.

Tryamkin, who skates very well for a big man, tried to score a couple times during the game, going on spirited forays into the offensive zone, only to be stopped by the goaltender.

Friday’s 4-3 overtime loss left Avtomobilist in a 3-0 hole, though Tryamkin had an assist, six hits, four shots on net and a blocked shot in 24:02 of ice time. He was real good, as his former coach Willie Desjardins would probably have said.

Facing elimination on Sunday, Tryamkin again brought his best, getting another assist, another six hits, three shots on net and notched a plus-1 rating in a team-high 23:08 of ice time.

Avtomobilist won the game 5-1 and live to fight another day.

Tryamkin, whose contract expires at the end of the KHL playoffs, is expected to test the NHL waters again and potentially sign another contract with the Canucks.

maybe that bit about his contract expiring at the end of the KHL playoffs is the key here... technically he's still under contract and it's up to the KHL club the release him before that?

just making guesses at this point.

  2. The Canucks have some interesting roster predicaments heading into the Playoffs

    1. Boeser is expected to come back from injury before the end of the season

    2. Josh Leivo may return before the end of the season

    3. Nikita Tryamkin's KHL team is on the brink of elimination and he may soon be eligible to join the roster.

    4. Zack MacEwen is looking like he's ready for the NHL and could be a potential playoff beast.

    Here's my ideal lineup

    Miller Petey Boeser
    Pearson Horvat Toffoli
    Virtanen Gaudette MacEwen
    Motte Beagle Sutter

    Roussel
    Leivo

Tough to leave Rooster out but it's tougher to leave Motte or Sutter out, as that would leave us short on strong Penalty Killers, a crucial thing to have in the Playoffs. Leivo left out too. Just too hard to fit him in over anyone after sitting out for so long. Really solid depth though.

    Edler Myers
    Hughes Tanev
    Trymakin Stecher

    Fantenburg
    Benn

Myers scares me on a shutdown pairing but what can you do. The bottom 4 are potentially the best bottom 4 in the league if Tryamkin lives up to the hype. And again, really solid depth

With Marky and Demko as our tandem this team looks like it could deep, in my opinion.

Unless Benn was papered down at the deadline (I don't think he was) then they can't send him to Utica.  I think of the current roster, only MacEwen was papered.

You're right, I got that one wrong.

Still though, considering it's a pro-rated contract, I would think it wouldn't be terribly hard to fit him in with some LTIR relief or something.

Boeser is skating with the team today and could be back before the end of the season.  They have 6M in LTIR cap space which they will no longer have once he is ready to return.

Contract would be pro-rated. Easy to send down Benn and give Tree a pro-rated $2M contract (or less) to replace him.

ok enough is enough time to cut the cord  Stecher  other has the worst lock in the world for helping score on his own team but really that is like 10 helpers that he has got on his own team way to many times should look to send him packing he has no got speed rally makes good decisions and seems to always shot the puck and the guy that is defending against him and has cause more goals against then and other canucks in history

You posted the same post twice but regardless...you appear to have some anger issues. Have you thought of joining a gym?  When did you last get laid?

Someone complaining about a sports team on an on- line forum is fairly common and far less annoying than someone comaining about others complaining.

nah dude you're just taking me way too seriously. I'm actually not mad at all. sorry if it came across that way. was just making an observational comment. I'm cool tho. I gym. i get laid. thanks for your concern.

Heard you the first time.  Feel free to  stay away if the team loses.  It's not likely you will be missed.

heard me the first time? bro this is my first time posting in like 3 days... because i stay away after the team loses and these boards become chock-full of 40+ year old men who project their hate for themselves and dissatisfaction they have in their own lives towards a bunch of men who lost a game, whilst telling everyone how much better they could've done it.

The whole thing reminds me of working on a construction site. Everyone hates their own lives so much that they revel in other people failures and point fingers as a way to distract themselves from their own misery. They love to talk about how stupid the government is, how the man is bringing them down, or how their local sports team is a bunch of bums. I ain't bout it.

Also "It's not likely you'll be missed" LOL good one dude

I live in BC and watch pretty much every Canucks game. There are a number of intelligent, thoughtful posters here with whom I can have actual intelligent conversations with.  You don’t  number among them. I’ve had you on ignore for awhile and Every so often I peek to see what idiotic thing you’ll say next. And you never disappoint.

  9. Stecher is such a gamer. Honestly I'd love to see him with us in the playoffs. I think he'd really play above his size and ability in those types of games.

I'd much rather we stand pat on D and replace Benn/Fanta with Tryamkin if possible. If that's not possible, might as well trade tryamkin's rights + a B prospect for a #5 Dman with size who can slot into our bottom pair with stetch. Would give us 4 top 4 dmen and two #5's on our bottom pair imo. That's the kind of defensive depth we had in 2011.

That may be, but there can't be a coincidence that every single year this team is completely decimated by injuries throughout the line up. Look up the stats for man games lost, VAN is always at the top. There has to be more to it then just "bad luck".

we've actually been relatively healthy this year.

With that said, the reason we have so many injuries year after year is geography. There's no getting around the fact that we have the most travel of any team in the league. constant plane rides really tax the body.

    your blame game is annoying.
