Not a fan of ego rap. Haven't listened to the guy in years.

He produced some good $&!# back in the day, but I think he's potentially the least talented rapper to be ever be considered an actual rapper.

But OV is the most electrifying forward to ever play the game. I don't doubt it for a second.

That's where most people go wrong with Kanye's talent. In truth, kanye's always been a mediocre lyricist. his true talent lies in beat making and executive production.

On topic: Ovi's beating wayne. book it.

  2. Loui cooling back down is a positive development. Had he continued to play decently, he may have thought that maybe he can still play in the league after this year. With him continuing to struggle, the potential of him making a prideful retirement at the end of this year because he realizes he is no longer up to NHL-par becomes more and more likely.

  4. I'm pretty sure a Tryamkin contract cannot be submitted to the league before July 1st? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he can't play this season no matter what. I remember reading that somewhere.

  5. Brock Boeser has a dying father and if you think that isnt effecting his performance you're probably wrong. Trading him right now would be very dumb imo. He will rebound.

With that said, he definitely needs to work on his skating this off-season.

Not my point.  I never said it counted against the cap.  Wow the trolls are out in force!

    1. you're using the word troll wrong

    2. business is all about risk management. the canucks took a very light risk ($900k, a truly inconsequential amount of money to an nhl budget) on a high reward project. if goldy learned to compete and play defense every shift, he would have been a hell of a player at $900k. this was a classic low riak-high reward play. you make that signing everytime.

JB signed him to a one way contract for 900k.  He is playing in the minors.  Not the NHL.  I’m sure he would have been moved already if an other team was interested.  That is a bad signing.  Luckily it’s only one year.

even if he was on a two-way, his cap hit would be the same. as others have pointed out, because his cap hit is under $1m, it doesn't count against our cap while hes in the minors sooooooooooo you're wrong

Yes Oreskovich was played because of a depleted lineup. But I cannot respect a player that does nothing when an enormous opportunity is handed to him. Big body, great skater that could of made a difference but chose not to. In fairness he soon fell out of hockey so maybe he was one of those guys that just didn't "love" the game.

    LOL

bro he played NHL games, thats more than 99% of this board will do in their entire life

Haha, I absolutely hated the Jensen and Gaunce picks, sometimes you just know.  Dane effin Fox, though he was a found wallet so no lost.  That Jensen pick I'll never get, his numbers in Jr. weren't even that good.

He was a ppg player in his draft year. it was a 29th overall pick... that's pretty much the kind of player you get in that slot. none of the forwards who were chosen after him had stats that were any better lol. except for maybe ty rattie, who currently plays in the khl.

Why do you just assume that? I'd say most of cdc is aware he scored 66 in 62 games last year and was one of the last cuts for team canada. You dont accomplish that withough having offensive tools.

    Did you not realize?

I think some people take that year with a grain of salt because he was playing on more of a stacked team. He does have offense but it's not elite offense. I agree that woo will probably be more of a 40 point guy.

Tree is an upgrade on our current bottom pair.  I could see him getting a regular shift 5 on 5, and getting lots of PK time too.  16 to 18 minutes (hard minutes too) per game.  How much is that worth in a contract though?  2.5 million x 3 years?

It's so tough to say. I dont know about you but I haven't seen him play since he's left, and my suspicion is that most of the people speculating about where he might fit/ who he might displace/ how much he'll be paid haven't either.

We are doing great at drafting, passable at developing and we have had a bit of high end luck (EP and QH) ....but other teams are selling there culls and better even as they compete for a playoff spot...year after year...and we let FA'a walk ...year after year....

Who'd we let walk last year?

Who'd we let walk the year before last year?

Who'd we let walk the year before the year before last year?

There’s an interesting article on the Athletic about Tryamkin’s potential return.  After reading it I get the impression that there’s a lot of red flags around this player. It’ll be interesting to see how he does if/when he comes back

I read that article. Definitely a couple red flags. For those who don't subscribe, basically whats playing out in Russia is the same thing that played out when he came to Van. He's unhappy with his ice time and usage and that's the main factor in wanting a return to the NHL. Not sure how he thinks he's going to get better ice time in a superior league, but that's literally what his agent said in the article.

And for what it's worth, The Athletic puts out good content. Their subscriber model allows them to tailor content to the reader, rather than conforming to the will of their sponsors. It's far less click-baity and far more insightful imo.

I didn't say that - I said from Boeser's perspective he may seem that in compare to last season.    Coaches are telling EP to shoot more and Miller likely too.   A line only has so many shot opportunities in a game.    Look for Brock to get more looks on a line that doesn't have EP40 on it for at least the period that EP isn't leading the way as the team's top goal scorer.

You did say that in your first post! haha

You're right that EP is shooting more this year. He leads in goals, but also leads in assists. Like I said, might be 50/50.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Rob_Zepp said:

Boeser might.    He isn't getting the puck from EP40 with the frequency he did in their first year of chemistry.   EP has been told to shoot more as has Miller - both have very good shots (heavy and accurate) and that isn't helping Boeser who simply needs to be shooting at least 1 to 1.5 more times per game than he has been for about two months.

He's definitely shooting more than he did last year. Idk. Might be 50/50 pass/shoot this year. I dont think I'd describe him as shoot first. I think at most he simply makes whatever the right play is in any given moment. That's the first time I've ever heard someone describe him as shoot-first though.

  16. 4 hours ago, Rob_Zepp said:

Depends upon the metric.   Jake is an entirely different type of player.   He is much faster than Boeser and perhaps the coaching staff want to see more urgency from EP40's game and as Miller can flat out fly too perhaps that is the thought process.   One doesn't have to denigrate Jake to make sense of this move for Boeser.   It may be temporary or it may be more long-term but either way, it isn't always about "better" but more about "different" and this is a very young team still sorting out how to attain consistency with a first-time NHL coach who is probably himself just starting to get the better of other coaches as often as not.

Oh, and on a per minute basis, Jake and Brock are pretty much dead-heat in goals.....and Jake hasn't had EP40 setting him up.   Perhaps coaches like the idea of Brock shooting more and getting away from two other strong "shoot first" players in EP40 and JT.

Not sure a lot of people would call petey a "shoot-first" player.

In what world is that fat?

He's definitely above his ideal body fat % in that pic, and that's without even considering that he's a professional athlete. Average man wouldn't call him fat, sure, but the boy's puffy there.

Every single line gets pinned not because of the lines, but because they are playing the collapse system.

The idea is 'to get pinned' until the other team gives you the puck.

4th line has been great since Motte got back.

    Sutter's in no man's land.

It's not a matter of them getting hemmed in no less than other lines. That line has had horrible possession stats. I was a fan of that line at the beginning of the season but it's been noticeably bad the past several games, going back to the 7 game win streak. Schaller and Beagle have the worst +/- on the team. That line shares the bottom 3 spots for Corsi on the team out of anyone that's played more than 8 games this year. It's bad.
