  1. Obviously, New Jersey does this only if they can sign Petey to an extension. Petey is a better player than Hughes. Offensively and defensively. We are talking about a potential 120-point player who can win the Selke. If he is on that New Jersey team, Petey might be able to win the scoring title. Podkolzin is a nice piece for New Jersey, he would literally be their biggest forward. I am actually high on D-Petey. I think he is an Edler clone. At the end of the day, it all depends on what New jersey thinks of our younger players and who they are high on. For all we know, they could really be in love with Podkolzin. He had 14 goals as a rookie, so there is alot of potential there. If I am New Jersey, I probably am not trading the Hughes brothers right now, as there is no reason to. It's just a hypothetical trade at this point. I'm sure New Jersey thinks Luke can be a top pairing Dman so they will wait to develop him...
  2. I agree. Petey and Hronek would be $20 million in cap space next year. Jack and Luke would be only $9 million. And Jack is locked up for 7 more years at $8 million. Cap wise the trade doesn't even work. For New Jersey to even consider it we'd have to give them Petey plus a bunch of younger players on ELC's. Something like Petey, Podkolzin and maybe D-Petey...
  3. That leaves a big hole for New Jersey on defence as they are counting on Luke to fill the gap left by Ryan Graves, so this would never happen. We would have to trade Demko to a 3rd team to get a top 4 Dman to send over to New Jersey...
  4. In the USA, these types of lawsuits usually land in the millions. Defamation, calling someone a pervert with zero evidence. Accusing Babcock of abusing Adam Fantilli. What if Fantilli comes out and says everything was fine? If that happens, this guy is screwed IMO...
  5. With zero evidence, Mike Commodore calls Mike Babcock a pervert and states as a matter of fact that Babcock is doing exactly what he did in Toronto and Detroit. He also states as a matter of fact that Mike Babcock is abusing Adam Fantilli. This could go down as the biggest lawsuit in NHL history if Babcock decides to pursue this. He probably won't, even though he may have the backing of the Columbus Blue Jackets. But I would bet big money that this is going to blow up in these guys faces and repercussions will happen soon...
  6. Is this the end of Paul Bissonette's career? Will he be sued into oblivion? Blue Jackets' Mike Babcock, Boone Jenner deny malicious intent in phone incident (msn.com) Babcock and Jenner each released statements via the Blue Jackets, claiming the meeting has been grossly mischaracterized. “While meeting with our players and staff I asked them to share, off their phones, family pictures as part of the process of getting to know them better. There was absolutely nothing more to it than that,” Babcock said. “The way this was portrayed on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast was a gross misrepresentation of those meetings and extremely offensive. These meetings have been very important and beneficial, not only for me but for our players and staff as well, and to have them depicted like this is irresponsible and completely inaccurate.” Jenner echoed his coach's feelings, claiming the pictures helped the two get off on the right foot ahead of the new season. “While meeting with Babs he asked me about my family and where I’m from, my upcoming wedding and hockey-related stuff,” Jenner said. “He then asked if I had pictures of my family and I was happy to share some with him. He showed me pictures of his family. “I thought it was a great first meeting and good way for us to start to build a relationship. To have this blown out of proportion is truly disappointing.” Star Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau backed Babcock and Jenner publicly, saying the allegations were "shocking" to him and that his interactions with his new coach have only been positive. “Personally, I had a great meeting with him,” Gaudreau told ESPN's Kristen Shilton on Tuesday. “We got to share things together, pictures of our family. I was a little upset to see the way it was handled and how it came out ... but nothing you can do about it. We got off to a great start, had a great meeting with him and looking forward to working together.” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly also chimed in on the allegations. “We followed up with the club, and I know the Players’ Association has followed up directly with the players,” Daly told NHL.com's Nick Cotsonika. “What was being reported by Paul Bissonette — or at least his characterizations of what transpired — isn’t consistent with what the players are reporting to the Players’ Association, including that none of them felt that the interactions were at all inappropriate or improper.” Asked if the NHL is currently satisfied that “this a non-issue,” Daly responded: “At this point, yes.”
  7. Is this a make believe story? You literally used to have a Petey signature pic and then one day out of the blue switched it to that Miller dude. I remember even calling you out on it. I’m gonna find those old posts. This isn’t over. The truth needs to be shown to the world. Yes, it’s been two years but I’m still not over it. I’m coming for you Deb. Watch out.
  8. I can’t wait until November 15 when the fans show BO their true feelings towards him. I don’t think it’s going to be pretty. This fake suck up crap isn’t going to work IMO.
  9. He's doubling down and getting closer to ending his podcast career IMO. This is defamation, massive lawsuit kinda stuff. Biz wasn't even in the room and is getting 2nd hand info. He's gonna take this all the way to the unemployment line IMO. Both Boone Jenner and Johnny Gaudreau have denied it. Sharing each other's family photos is a HUGE difference then what Biz is inferring Babcock did...
  10. Both Boone Jenner and Johnny Gaudreau have denied it and issued statements. Why would they lie? Paul Bissonette is in some deep shit IMO. If I was Babcock I would be going after his a** hard to try and put him out of business for good...
  11. The Canucks wanted the poster boy. Image is important. Hughes is a lot easier to market as captain than Miller. Petey would have been good image wise as well but he didn’t want the captaincy. Hughes will be a good captain and I think he may attract free agents to come here. Aquilini is trying to wipe the stain off this team. Slowly he is accomplishing that. Rutherford, Allvin, Tocchet, Foote and Gonchar all have the cups. Hughes is now the captain and poster boy of the team. He’s clean cut and speaks well. Just what they want in a captain. They even are doing all the necessary renovations at Rogers Arena. That new scoreboard along with brand new seats will help the viewing experience and get more fans in the rink. The only thing left now is the team needs to perform on the ice. We really need to make the playoffs this year and go from there.
  12. So, will Huggy start dropping the gloves now that he is the captain? FYI, Quinn Hughes was the captain of the USA World Junior Team in 2019. Look closely at the video and you can see Hughes, #7, has a C on his jersey... EDIT: Looks like Hughes was an assistant captain, but was wearing the C for that one game... 2019 WJC | U.S. Roster (usahockey.com)
  13. I'm actually agreeing with you Alfie, so stop drinking so early in the afternoon...
  14. I think people forget that Hughes is university educated. Alot of NHL players are not. He speaks quite well and is not shy in front of people or in front of a camera. He also comes from a large hockey family so he's been around hockey all his life. He will be a great captain and lead us to the Stanley Cup...
  15. Naslund spoke pretty much fluent English by the time he was named captain. Same with Henrik. Naslund was 27 when he was named captain and Henrik was 30, so both had already been in North America a long time. Petey is only 24, he thinks alot before he speaks as English doesn't come natural to him. He stumbles sometimes as well and is generally shy in front of the camera. He clearly doesn't want to be the captain, which is totally fine. Bure wasn't the captain either. Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar aren't the captains. Adam Fox isn't the captain. Bobby Orr was never a captain. Some players aren't captain material. Orr was never great in front of a camera. Esposito always did all the talking. Mind you Esposito was never the captain either. Guy LaFleur, Mike Bossy. Could go on and on...
  16. 3 of the greatest captains in NHL history were defencemen... Top 10 NHL Captains of All Time - Sports Illustrated Denis Potvin Scott Stevens Nicklas Lidstrom Quinn Hughes reminds me of Denis Potvin. A team full of star forwards and they pick the defenceman as captain...
  17. I think I do see him, his face is right behind Hughes butt...
  18. Hughes actually went to university for 2 years in Michigan so I can guarantee you we won't be getting the BO cliches after every game...
  19. Doug Lidster was co-captain for a year with Linden and Dan Quinn...
