It’s too bad we didn’t get Cal Foote, because between he and his dad we would’ve had a pair of feet lol… dad joke

It’s nice to finally have two defensemen on the top 50 list again. It’s been a while since we’ve had that:

My goodness please get us a second round pick. The second is so fun because you can get some of those gems that fell out of the first.
Garland for a second please

I think we got spoiled by that deal.
I was shocked it didn't cost a mid-round pick.
This deal could end up being the win of the entire trade season! I think there’s a decent chance that a few years down the road we will look back on the Kravstov trade and be even more mind blown than we are now by the grand larceny that this trade ended up becoming.

Button loves trade for the Canucks and he makes some solid points:

We have a better shot at winning the cup if we keep Petey and Hughes and try and go for it in the next 3-4 years then if we tear it all down, trade Petey and Hughes and watch and wait on a full 10 year rebuild...
Straight up! Petey is a superstar, and certainly one of the top three centers the Canucks have ever had. And Hughes is thee best defenseman we’ve ever had.
These two future hall of famers have the minerals to get us to the promise land if surround them with the right squad.

What if they’re clearing all this cap for a Karlsson trade lol

I’m really hoping that Van was willing to move that 1st and 2nd in the Hronek trade because they knew they would be getting a 1st or a 2nd in a Penguins trade.

When we’re using TO’s pick to snag a gem that has fallen to the late 3rd round this year I’m going to be stoked
And then I’ll be extra stoked a week later when we sign Schenn on July 1st.

She’s asking a question not saying she has any reliable info on him being scratched.
A name being out there in trade discussions and a team looking to trade a player or a deal being close are two completely different things.
Also, it would be reckless for them to scratch Miller unless they were 99% certain they have a deal in place, because that scratch would cause an absolute sh*t storm in this marketplace, and if the trade fell through, that could be a big black cloud hanging over the already very “passionate” Miller for next several years.

We also had a guy in the system that we thought was a good backup after one decent showing. His name is Martin. And he showed us that he was ass. If we trade Demko and our plan is Silovs, I am scared. No offense to Silovs, I just would rather have more than one plan in net other than a soon-to-be 22 year old 6th rounder. You don't move Demko on the hope Silovs is much more than we expected. Unless you're truly embracing a rebuild and not a retool.
Yeah throwing Silovs into a starter roll with our weak D, and at his young age could seriously damage his development. Fortunately there’s a lot of veteran goalies set to become free agents this summer (both of Carolina’s goaltenders for instance; Andersen and Raanta) that would could target as our starter.
Silovs has looked solid and I think he could serve well as a backup behind a vet.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but I can honestly say that I was never sold on Martin. Many times in the past not very strong goaltenders have put together solid stretches and appeared better than they actually were. And watching Martin play, I always felt that was the case with him. He looks small in the net, and just doesn’t have that same pro movement and stature that the goalies like Markstrom, Demko, and even Silovs has. To me, when I watch Silovs, he looks like a pro. So many aspects of his game just scream quality. I think that if developed correctly, he could have a very good career.

"Vitali Kravtsov might be the best forward in the 2018 NHL draft"...
A couple years ago I remember a hockey pundit (I can’t recall which one) mentioning that Kravstov might be the best player not in the NHL.

And Raty is an ace in the face of circle!

And on the topic of the NTDP, here's a look at some recent numbers from the program's top line, split between USHL, NCAA and the 4 Nations tournament: Ryan Leonard is currently on a 15 game point streak over which he has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points. That point streak also includes an active 6 game goal streak, over which he has 11 goals.
During that 15 game stretch, Smith and Perreault have each had multiple pointless games, but overall Smith has 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points and Perreault has 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points. I will repeat that: Perreault has 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points in the last 15 games.
This draft class is top notch! I recently heard Craig Button say that this could be the best draft class in the last 20 years!
I really hope we can get another second round pick because I think there’s going to be a lot of good players to choose from in that round as well.

Dopamine hit is wearing off from this trade...
MOAR TRADES PLEEEZZZEE!
I literally did a triple take when I saw we got Kravstov and especially what little we gave up to get him! I feel like this one will be a big win for our management.
I’ve been on a high ever since!

Management waited the price out from a mid 1st, to Hoglander, to Lockwood and a 7th. Great move by our management team.
This is very impressive work by our management! Even if Kravstov doesn’t become much, this patience and hard bargaining by our management will still make this a win IMO.
As for Lockwood, he was decent, but guys like him can be replaced annually at free agency for cheap, whereas if Kravstov lives up to even half of his potential this could be a home run.

Well, their defensive system is tightening up, which will cost insulate him from the kind of mess he was dealing with earlier in the season.
I definitely think having two legends in Foote and Gonchar in our coaching staff is helping our defence in a big way.
As sad as I was to see Budreau go in the way that he did, I’m really liking our coaching staff, Tocchet included.

I’m loving that the Islanders keep on hovering around 13th spot in terms of point percent. I know there’s still a long way to go until the end of the season, but if we could pick 13th overall with their pick that would be amazing! There’s going to be so many solid players left to choose from at that spot.

Petey is sooo good! Silvos looked solid again tonight. These two might tank our hopes of a tank lol.
Maybe we end up drafting 8-10th because my goodness the Blues looked awful and I could see us leap frogging them. Maybe we take Reinbacher with our pick and then the Moore or someone like that with the NYI pick. That would still be pretty great.

Your entire write-up made for an excellent read, but I especially enjoyed your take on Fantilli! Lol so clever!

I’m definitely thinking the Avalanche makes sense, and not because they’ve been quiet, but rather because RHD Erik Johnson is out for the season.

Wow, Dvorsky at 3 and Smith at 10. I’ve really been warming up to Dvorsky and where we’re likely going to be picking I think there’s a decent chance he’ll be there.
