I was at tonight's game and I gotta tell you, the Hoglander playing tonight is not the same one as a couple months ago. This guy is absolutely dominant every time he's on the ice. We've got to give him another shot in Vancouver at some point.

I get the feeling that they want to make him into a solid top-6 winger in the NHL and that they're going to develop the heck out of him to make sure he reaches that level.  I don't think they see him as a bottom 6 player, like Podz can be when needed, at all.  Hence the longer time being devoted to his development.

Back then they had Dahlin out and another defender (can't remember who). They brought in Stillman as a depth guy who played in the league this year. They were in the wildcard race. As it turns out Dahlin only missed 3 games, and ironically Stillman is now out day to day.

That makes sense as to why we were able to get Bloom for Stillman.  I'm a little surprised that the Sabres couldn't get a better depth D-man for him, but if he's really as good as he's sounding here, we may have been really fortunate with our timing!

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has signed college free agent defenseman Anton Malmstrom to a two-year, entry-level contract.

While Malmstrom's contract will begin with the 2023-24 season, he will report to the Blues' AHL affiliate - the Springfield Thunderbirds - and be eligible to play the remainder of this year's regular season and playoffs on an AHL Professional Tryout.

Malmstrom, 22, has recorded six points (three goals, three assists) and 16 penalty minutes in 33 games with Bowling Green University (NCAA) this season. Overall, the Osterhaninge, Sweden, native has posted seven goals, six assists and 56 penalty minutes in 89 career NCAA games with Bowling Green University over three seasons.

Malmstrom also participated in Blues Prospect Camp in 2022, joining as a tryout. He wore No. 64.

  4. I guess no one else remembers how the original skate logo was at times ridiculed in the local media for being drawn as plummeting downhill.  Something about how that was symbolic of Canucks history, and maybe a bad omen as well. That interpretation left me hoping that they would redesign it to actually be pointing upward one day.
