Doesn't sound right to me. Aqua hired Linden before Linden hired Benning
They didn't talk about that stuff beforehand?
Do we know this or are we speculating?
I cant find the article but it was clear there was a disconnect between Linden (The President) & Benning (GM). This was also referenced by Aquilini in his latest Media conference, stating "There has to be a good relationship between the GM & Pres., otherwise it doesn't work".

The owners chose Benning over Linden. I doubt Linden wants back in & I do not blame him. Linden wanted to go the development route and the owners and Benning wanted a "quick" turn around. Hindsight is beautiful isn't it?!

Miller + Pearson for Barzel + Dobson. Islanders might need to add a second.
If JB ever turned this down, I would riot. Very Lopsided

Barzal is not leaving new york even if he only gets 1 point all season. They are not going to give up on him. But I would do the trade Barzal for Petey if it were on the table. 1 for 1.

Pearson doesn't do anything real well though. Jake does some things really well.
Pearson is really good a disappearing. One of the best.

He has has 3 points in his last 51 games. I love Zack and his physical presence is fun, but he can't do anything but hit and fight at the NHL level. His last two years put him on pace for 5 points in 82 games. He makes guys like Domi and Brashear look like offensive stars. He plays 9:36 per game--the lowest TOI by far of any regular on the Flyers.
The argument that might be made I suppose is that he only provides to the team in a sort of indirect way. Pumping the team up through a fight or big hit that hopefully gets other players going.
This is all true. But I’d rather watch him make big hits and fight then watch the current sh*t show getting beat every night.

Why are the rosters so small? Seems like you took some vets out. You need veterans with young players to win.

And we’ve had them all for respectively totalled up to almost half a decade… nothing is changing.
Pettersson- 4 seasons
Hughes- Almost 4 seasons
Horvat- 8 seasons
Boeser- Almost 6 seasons
The only ones who get a pass are
Demko, Podkolzin, Hoglander, and Rathbone.
Demko “saves” peoples jobs and ice-times almost literally.
Podkolzin is a rookie who’s progressing very well.
Hoglander is a sophomore who’s progressing very well.
Rathbone is basically a rookie who’s progressing very well.
All four of these players are also some of the only ones that show up and play like they got a military boot kicked into them.
You don’t win a cup with young guys! I look forward to watching the development of these players in the coming years!

What you’re suggesting is what we’ve been doing for 50. Count em. 50. Years. Even under Gillis we made the same “half peeling the band-aid off” moves and we fell short in the Cup Final due to injuries, mental weakness, and coaching. Then afterwards under Gillis and Benning we started floundering the way we are now. We have solid young pieces and savvy veterans in a good core that we can build around but some major ripping down and craftsmanship needs to be done once and for all. Bedard will be a major puzzle piece to the answer for any team he lands on. People are so dull with how they’re sleeping on that kid.
In the past years, we have never had this quality of good young players. Not something I am willing to give up on.

Damn, that sucks for us! Really wanted Gorton.

At 50% retained. Im in. His character is garbage but I would make it clear he is gone on the first incident. After that he would know his career is over. At 50%, I think it is worth the risk. More depth with Pearson moving down. I would do the trade for future considerations or if we need cap space, someone that clears that space for us that is not that valuable.
