  1. i wonder is parros is the one in the stands you can hear booing
  2. this is a real view of mine about canucks playing style, i do believe the nucks can play better but with motte petey and sutter out i dont see that happening this year.
  3. everyone forgets that vanbiesbrouk ranks 6th all time for points. SMH but lets not forget the most gifted offensive goalies. barrasso and fuhr
  4. miller sucks because ep40 has weak swedish genetics, and because of those genetics he has a broken wrist. it's been about 8 games since i last analyzed miller, hughes, boesers play since petey has been out. but thier production/scoring chances and posession numbers dropped by about 20% with petey out, and i imagine it's not getting any better since then.
  5. it would zero out if they used current data from each calendar year. but that defeats the whole purpose. do you have access to these stats? buffalo was in the middle of a 18 game winless streak during your post that you provided as evidence also demko just came off his hot streak. 5/6 of his last games are pretty poopy. 23ga in 6 games what was buffalo ranked for slot shots, slot pass percentage% rush scoring chances and all the other stats you mentioned on april 14th. stats are not very good when they are biased to make demko look better. which imo you have done with ullmark and shesterkin(who has some really good stats in his last 8 games.
  6. edit: remove insult, y'all are making me angry. I am arguing that the offense is the problem!!!!!!!! i'm saying demko is a top 10-15 starting goalie. demko is a great thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im saying demko is ranking 10-15/89 goalies. if we had the puck more often and finished more often his stats would be better, i am arguing his stats would be better if that happened. 10-15 would be between .919-.917 your all so angry you cant even realize what i'm saying.
  7. once again this not baseball, hockey strategy changes drastically over time. expected stats average them over the course of a long period of time. its one of the reasons jordie benn was highly ranked on our team in goals above replacement. baseball doesn't change they aren't inventing new strats so xwins is a great stat. for basketball and especially football and hockey it's basically a stat that proves how much the games change year over year. that is the only way you can factor in that 241 goals are unacounted for.
  8. i do get it. the gsax stat is based upon accumulated goals scored from the past 10 seasons when they started collecting the stats. Demko is really good at saving goals from areas where the goals came from the past ten years. is it me or has the powerplay not drastically changed in the past 10 years? this year for the gsaa which is based off real goals this year he ranks 27/89 goalies. sv% 33/89
  9. well in the consideration that he is in the top 15 of the best goalies in the world he is elite. but in the nhl he is slightly better than average for a starter. considering he is paid about average and not 8+million dollars benning didn't think he was elite either. nor did demko, cause he agreed to 5 million too. it's always feast or famine with demko, not something you can say about the true nhl elite. demko hasn't even played 40+ games in his career yet, book is still out on him. luongo when he was 24 played 72 games had a .931 save percentage 2.43gaa and still only had a 25-33-14(ties) record luongo when he was 25 played 75 games had a .914 save percentage 2.93gaa and had a 35-30-9(otl) record if goalies were so important to a team florida would have made the playoffs when luongo was 24.
  10. oh i see......... you are correct. how clueless i am that the 28/89 goalies that make up the positive in a stat that should be zeroed out doesnt even come close. and there is only 11/89 goalies that have a better gsax than gsaa. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. i smell microwaved fish the positive only attribute for +146.9 gsax the negative only attribute for -388.49 gsax i guess the goalies that are expected to make those saves are in the khl or ahl? i know the reason why the stat doesn't zero out, i wonder if you do? i'll give you a hint, the goals scored this year only factor in about 10-15% of the xga
  11. 14/29 games demko has a lower than .900 sv percentage. but he does have 15 amazing games though. im actually really happy he plays like that. but he needs more lights out games to be considered elite. phili has the most goals against and arguably the worst tenders. yet they have more wins than us. hockey is a team sport, you need offense, defense and goaltending. the most important stat is offense, than you can arguably say that goaltending and defense are of equal value. something like 40,30,30. dominik hasek never won a cup before he got to a amazing team
  12. listen you can throw random stats at me but unless you can provide a source all im going to say to you is. cool story bro. i already proved how the one i gave a source for is complete random gobelty goop, just because they track the stat doesn't mean they are doing a good job of that. could i be wrong that demko is not playing slightly better than average for a starter, yes. have you proved that? not yet. provide a link where i can see if the stats are biased or show errors. also this post is like 12 games ago for most teams, got anything up to date?
  13. demko has 15/29 games with a better save percentage of .911 the canucks won 12 of those games. holtby has 7/18 games with a better save percentage of .911 the canucks won 5 of those games. the canucks still lost 5 of those games. 5/17 games the canucks do not win because of lack of scoring due to no fault to the goalie. the canucks have only won twice when the goalie has less than a .911 save percentage. sometimes the offense has to bail out the goalie, and sometimes the goalie has to bail out the offense. the canucks are ranked 26th in scoring this year once you factored gp. goal scoring is a more important stat than goaltending. you could have the best goalie in the league on your team but if your last place in scoring your still going to be near the bottom in points unless somehow the offense and goalie magically played thier bests at the same time. every single division the top two teams have the most goals in their division 4/4 divisions with the bottom two teams with the exception of two teams ottawa and san jose are in the bottom of thier division and also scored the least amount of goals.
  14. i am not blaming him, never had. im saying there is better goalies than demko, regardless of potential. i am also saying the main culprit is offense, especially secondary scoring.
  15. well most of my posts i have been arguing he has been playing slightly better than average (for a starter), you just cherry picked the post i put the least amount of effort into. am i a good guy again?
  16. he is also probably 31st in number of shots that are the least dangerous. the canucks also played better when demko was in net averaging something like 10% less shots against when he was in net. stats are cool and you can make a story less bad or better by omitting other important stats. like if the nucks could actually hold onto the puck more often those stats you mentioned would naturally improve.
  17. im pretty sure demko is going to get better, how much i don't know. i don't like arguing demko is only having a good year and not a great one ullmark is only 18 months older than demko, if we compared there stats to when they were 1 year apart in age difference ullmark wins. but i'm not going to pretend that demko is a elite goalie right now, he has all the tools to be one. but so far he has only shown he can string together a few weeks of dominace. yes this is a absurd year, but i would argue that our schedule is a lot easier on a goalie than a player. and our team is kinda poop soup, but is buffalos detroits or nj any different? the best goalies make the saves regardless of who's in front of them and there is goalies who are the roughly the same age who have better records. Shesterkin Saros Jarry lets see what he can do next year, if he can get close to a .920 save percentage I would say he is in the discussion for top 10 in the league.
  18. https://evolving-hockey.com/blog/a-new-expected-goals-model-for-predicting-goals-in-the-nhl/ i would argue that having a expected advantage for being on home ice but there isn't a stat for a disadvantage for being away is kinda silly....... just remember this is not baseball. hockey is very complicated, and i would not let nerds influence my decision in how good a players is. especially true since they balance stats out because they don't want to look bad.
  19. no sir................ a expected goalie stat that does not balance out is a useless stat. who are these goalies that are expected to make these saves? apparently its those 11 goalies? 241.59 goals unaccounted for. like i said poop soup.
  20. yup...... your learning from other haters how to argue on how to win a argument? lies upon lies? never did i suggest any of what you said? as they say. cool story bro. i will argue one thing, im pretty good at pointing out hideous lies usually its from one type of poster, but not always. i will say again. demko has shown he can be elite, but consistency is troubling. all he has shown so far is he is slightly better than average. now let me clarify that. i'm saying he's in the better half of best goalies in the world. i would never argue that was a problem. being roughly around 25/89 goalies is not a bad thing. also I would argue that buffalo is not better defensively than us. but i would argue ullmark is better than demko. 6 years of playing for buffalo and his sv% is .912
