  1. have you tried the internet search engines out? they are really cool! https://googlethatforyou.com?q=fastest growing sport in the world https://googlethatforyou.com?q=most popular sports in the world
  2. your three years older than me. i do remember most of my friends were all bigger than thier fathers by the time they reached 18 note i didn't read any of these articles I just know they are filled with records from today. don't feel so bad that sports are played with more skill by bigger faster and with more understanding. it happens in all sports. https://guinnessworldrecords.com/records/showcase/sports-and-strength https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_records_in_athletics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_records_in_swimming https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_world_records_in_Olympic_weightlifting#:~:text= Event ,11 April 2021 22 more rows https://www.livestrong.com/article/542877-the-average-height-of-humans-over-time/
  3. hockey is the second most played in the world next to soccer, and womens hockey is the fastest growing sport in the world. hockey is the third most popular with fans in the world soccer, cricket, hockey. north america is not the center of the universe
  4. good thing gretzky agrees with me. no one will ever score 250 bijillion points. in a season because he goalies are in another eicholon and actual team defense is played nowadays. hockey if the fastest growing sport in the world, more young kids playing means more nhl quality players and teams. your right there was some stacked teams back in the 80's but that has nothing to do with how good of an athlete they are. players are bigger faster stronger more skilled and understand the game better, thanks to the internet and technology. again look at individual sports not too many records are held from the 80's you could drop the teams down to 21 and there still wouldn't be 10-12 goal games, because it's so hard to gain entry into the offensive zone with possession. until the older folk realize how much the game changed i will continue to mock and trash the 80's defensive structure's. you have a major disillusionment to how great players and defensive strategies are today.
  5. the reason the 80's were so high in scoring was because that gms built teams to play offense first and the game was just catching up to orr's influence into the game, gretzky further influenced that. the coaches didn't have a strategy to stop the offense, just obstruct them. that stopped in 2003/2004 13 years of obstruction? goalies have been perfecting the butterfly over the last 30 years and are still improving the first real team defense strategys became widely adopted in 95/96 they didn't perfect them until about 2009/2010. newell brown changed the powerplay with the drop pass and ovechkin made ways to improve the powerplay from the 2010 season on. there have been a few slight stratetgy ajustments each year as gms and coaches copy the latest and greatest up winners, but nothing too significant since the 2010/2011 season gretzky never faced this
  6. listen i would rank between the best players in the last 40 years something like lemiuex tier1a gretzky jagr tier1b crosby mcdavid if he continues to improve his play I would consider him in tier1a
  7. hey man your the one that started this whole thing.......... ccomparing mcdavid to hawerchuk and stastny. you do you though
  8. nah i wouldn't rank him up thier either, yet. it's a good start to a conversation though. gretzky was so great because he saw the game differently. he literally changed how people scored. he also worked for it his entire life perfecting his skills playing against bigger players for the majority of his youth lemiuex was so great because he was a giant man, with arguably the best skills of all time. he could not be stopped. don't know much about orr, but he also changed the game crosby apparently changed the game too, thier was a book written about it. mcdavid is so good because he utilizes every edge and stride to move from point a to point b better than anyone ever in the game. he's basically a bigger faster crosby. i honestly don't see room for much improvement until a player the size of lemiuex puts it all together again.
  9. after reviewing my math the gaa for lemiuexs division was 2.93gaa and the rest of the east 2.84 west was still 2.63 that still leaves a difference between 2000-2001 of 2.82 vs 2020-2021 north 2.99 or 1.06 that still leaves mcdavid with a very respectable 1.74 ppg once adjusted if you adjusted this stat to the 85-86 season mcdavid would still put up 201 points/82gp playing on a just ok team goalies are better today, than 40 years ago, and they continue to get better every year. defensive structures were the biggest influence in the decline in goals from the 90's - 2010 powerplays have improved in the last decade despite the goalies improvement and no real room for growth in defensive strategy. this is the first year in a while powerplays are becoming stagnant again, except for a handful of teams the boston bruins have a very good bunch of pk'ers and we need to copy thier strategies.
  10. 2.76gaa in 2000-2001 * 9% is in the east is 3.01 gaa in the penguins division its 3.04 gaa. in the west gaa is 2.63 gaa so considering he breakdown of games goes something like games in hier own division 24/82 29% east conference 40/82 49% west conferene 18/42 22% 3.04* 24= 72.96 3.01* 40=120.4 2.63* 18=54.23 add hem all up and divide by 82 you get 3.019 gaa. so know that you think it's fair to add/subtract points lets see what happens. 3.019 lemiuexs competition 2.991 mcdavids competition =1.0093 96*1.0093= 97 or 1.87ppg mcdavid in2000-2001 would have one extra point lemiuex in 2020-2021 would have the same amount of points most people don't actually do the math for me. i appreciate your help in showing just how good the goalies are of today. again i have to point out the cap advantage the penguins had. thatteam would be well over the 81.5 million of today. The top two players in the game and 3 ppg players. would be 41 million locked up in 5 players. not to mention kevin stevens, jan hrdina, kasparitis, slegr, snow, hedberg, ference the forward group would likely be over 55 million and closer to 60million. the defence would be at least 25 million. plus add at least 6 million for the goalies lets not even look at the avalanche that year, or even talk about how many millions above 100 the oilers of the 80's would be.
  11. i already did,the east in the 2000-2001 season let in on average 9% more goals.if lemiuex played in the west you would have a point, but he didn't. if anything mcdavid should have his numbers bumped not lemiuexs
  12. that just proves my point on how much better the goalies are. if defense was its best and it was so hard to score the goalies numbers should have been better. also i have found your lies in your stats already, i assume your discounting certain goalies again?????? do you have a weird agenda to prove?
  13. im sorry why does mcdavid lose points? mijdsninouqidbnjuqbeoufdnbqouudahnouquehndfliuuqhanwefoidjqoeirrfnoiqejrnfpiqeo this a joke right, because mcdavid faced better goalies he is punished or lemiuex is awarded?
  14. hot dogs aren't so bad, a little fatty is all. when butcheing plants cut their meat they package up for us to eat, they have waste trimmings. rather than just throw out human grade meat they make the hot dog. here's a picture of the meat before its turned into that delicious tube. really fatty!!!! if you buy a hot dog you should really be buying the lower fat content, but also watch out that they don't introduce fillers, or a abundance of salt to make up for the flavor loss. I am always mindful when buying cured meats like hot dogs, lunch meats and bacon, I try to avoid sodium nitrite because it has been proven to effect how the brain functions and has been linked to diabetes and heart disease. basically any other preservative is better than sodium nitrite. (much different than sodium nitrate) stop buying hotdogs with 20% fat and contain preservatives(sodium nitrites) that cause cancer, diabetes and heart disease. https://www.wholeheartedfamilyhealth.com/common-food-preservatives/
  15. podz to me has proved he can be a elite forward, it might take 3-4 years to craft his game. but i also believe that he might have the tools to be a bergeron type of player for us. also you can work on your offensive techniques. and if its true about him growing in his d+1, and d+2 year he will need time to fill out. this kid is a long term project. as longs as he plays his heart out, you will never hear me complain about his scoring. the scoring will come, as long as he steps up his offseason game. fun fact: if podkolzin played as many minutes or games as the top 2 leading scorers in the khl playoffs he would have finished with 24gp 11g and 10A in 17.5 minutes a game. that would have him finish third in playoff scoring. history has proven that khl players coming across sometimes will produce points at the nhl level . panarin was a ppg player in the khl and next year he was a ppg player in the nhl. podz could be a 25g 30a guy in his first year.
  16. your right, i read many articles about how many of the forwards just floated around the ice (maybe don't party so much) it's also silly to think that being 20 years later somehow devolved the generation into wussies that couldn't handle a punch. like seriously the nhl is bigger now like 2 inches taller and 20lbs heavier. Mcdavid would be a really big guy back in the 80's. like if any of this nonsense would be true you would have seen boxers and ufc fighters from the early 80's being dominant in the middle to late 90's mike tyson was great in the 80's but by the time he was 30 he was done. bigger, heavier fighters who understood the sport better dismantled him. so if the baddest man alive somehow became pretty tame, i would think this whole superiority complex is a pretty bad take. the heavyweight champion boxers just get bigger and taller ali 6'3 237 lennox lewis 6'5 245 tyson fury 6'9 253lbs
  17. your comparing apples to oranges here, and that comes from a guy that gets called out for cherry picking. let me show you how to really cherry pick. LONG READ TL DR: when comparing era to era lemiuex faced easier competition and mcdavid is facing better goalies now than the rest of the league and from 2000-2001 for gp i choose 10 min because I want to include the backup for both era's. 2020-2021 above .930 3 above .920 11 above .910 28 above .905 39 2000-2001 above .930 0 above .920 8 above .910 18 above. 905 27 as someone who also watched hockey back in the day of 20 years ago, i'm really suprised you forgot that the east let the most goals in by a huge margin 9% more actually and the division pittsburgh played in let in on average 1% more goals than the rest of the conference or in other words 10% more than the west. (NI PITT) considering the games played goes like 6x4 for your division and 10*4 conference and 1 about game vs the west. Lemieux had the easy life. and heres the numbers for 2020-2021 Central 1228 North 1244 north has 2.5% harder time scoring than the east and about 1.5% easier than the central and north combined West 1221 East 1276 and the north (NI EDM) faces about 7% more shots than the rest of the league. so it seems that the goalies are indeed better than the rest of the league, they just cant stop mcdavid.
  18. there was a reason only 35 goalies played in more than 25 games in the 60's. i think i read a article about it. they were a "unique breed"
  19. hmmmm, i wonder where this is going? what that goalies in the 60 were pretty good too? back when they were playing with uncurved sticks?
  20. well you can argue, that the goalies were not good in the 80's but you were wrong. in fact your not even doing that all those gaolies are 90's goalies. and 90's goalies don't hold a candle to goalies of today either. there were a selecct few that adopted major changes, vanbiesbrouk one of them. but most of them stuck with thier stand up style and they still had sub.900 numbers in the 90's. hasek was always a great goalie, but you can count like 10 goalies with above 0.920 save percentage every year now a days. you can pretend they were just as good. lets not forget how many year canada was blanked vs russia because of thier butterfly goaltenders. the goalies are still perfecting the butterfly, and i imagine would crush the goalies from 20 years ago. 25 of the top 30 goalies with the highest save percentage, are still playing today. (minimum 100 games) of those 5 only 1 played in the 90's Hasek. the other 4 retired within the last 5 years 40/50 still playing. but yeah you keep arguing
  21. i hate when people get all players today are garbage and had it easy, they are as bad as the extreme haters of benning and green. if they stop i will stop, i didn't start this crap.
  22. you do realie that mcdavid has scored more ppg than lemiuex in that season in a cap world, with goalies that are about 1.5% better right? lemiuex was 35 btw. jagr also scored 123 points in 80 games when he was 34. gretzky sccored 48, in 48 when was 33
  23. admit you werent 2 when the 80's started? i was alive, im justrealistic in knowing that a 5-13 year old isn't a good analyst or has any realistic memories
  24. ew nice, editing your comment after the fact. guess what your wrong, in the history of time since the olympics were documented athletes got better. and in a team sport the errors are multiplied. must have been nice to play against people who really didnt undestand that defense wins games too. stupid redline and clutch and grap barely effected he score. the season after they changed the rules the score increased .3gpg then next year? that advantage was gone. oh by the way your 3 years older than me, you think your 5 year old self was a hockey guru, sad.
