Iti is frustrating as a long time fan to see how people aren't seeing the longer term big picture and how losing draft picks will hurt us. Unfortunately this is what we've done repeatedly - end of season short term runs but not making the playoffs. The way we're playing now, we won't get a good draft pick so we'll be stuck with the team we have +/- a couple of players. Will a few months together next year turn the Canucks into a playoff ready team - only time will tell.

At the mercy of the ownership. Just have to accept it and see how it plays out despite the retool not working so far for this franchise. It's new management, it may be different. They are picking up good supporting pieces at least.

We filled our #2 D spot (a core role) with a 25 year old, excellent, right shot guy.
The supporting cast can be filled via free agency and other trades. Tampa won back to back Cups with a D group that only had one of their own drafted players, Hedman. We are very close.

I still think we need one more top left shot dman behind Hughes. OEL doesn't cut it. Plus another right handed dman.

Then you’re another fan who would prefer we rebuild. That means trading away our young core, because you believe they’re not good enough, and deep diving to get top five draft picks for as long as it takes to replace them. JR/Allvin don’t think we should do that. They realize this core is good enough to win. They added Hronek by moving Bo. Smart trade. We had three high end enters. Do they turned the lesser of the three into a much needed #2 D, who happens to be right shot. They continue to retool the supporting cast.

No. No, and no. Never once did I mention rebuild but we are kidding ourselves if we think we are close to being a contender with this current roster. There still are quite a few holes.

Looks more like we are rising to the top. Accept the fact we have a great young core and management is building a strong supporting cast. We will be very good for a very long stretch of seasons.
    Them is the facts.

The top? For this season? I don't think so. That's pretty premature since they have proven year after year they can't even make the playoffs and are usually out by Christmas. Them the facts until they prove otherwise.

Things are shaping up that the wet blankets will be wrong more often than not. Our core is entering their prime, we're good young adding players, we're drafting a good 1st this year ...

You guys had a good negative run for a long time. Be happy about that. ;)

One thing you forgot to mention. They still have prove they can do it when it counts. That's not negativity. That's just reality. The defense and center position still have big holes. They might be shaping up but we also could still have these conversations about slow starts until they change that narrative. It's on them if they want the negative comments to stop.

Except a full season won’t have the easiest schedule in the league that we have now.

They still need to prove they can get through the gauntlet that is our first half schedule.

Yes. People just want to ignore that fact. If we were facing Boston, Colorado, Toronto, Tampa, Edmonton consistently plus not playing Demko almost every game.  It would be a different story but they are winning games they are supposed to. So what can you do? Absolutely nothing but watch. Mushy middle here we come.

None of this garbage will matter when they start the season 2-7-1 next season, also all the people happy about these wins are ok with being mediocre and not having any star players on their team, the top 5 in this draft are star players, something the Canucks roster does not have right now

Although I agree with some of your post. I think Pettersson is considered a star by now.

Anyways, back here on planet earth it's great to see the kid back and making an impact after a real rough year. Seems like Lek may take a little longer to develop, but that's okay, as we're pretty deep on the wing. We can afford to let him marinate.

Yes, I was so worried about his development. This sure is nice to see. Hopefully he continues to work on his strength and speed in the off-season. I wonder when we will see him in Abby?

Probably BC born players know what the media is like and how the fans can be like.

Man if they don't want to play here because of the media that's pretty pathetic. Oh no, I am being asked difficult questions when the team plays like crap. Give me a break. I am sure the millions would be able to soothe their problems. Pfff.
