  1. Panthers waive Patrick Nemeth
  2. To be fair in his own respects he was a good player & a great person around the locker room. ...the hate is more so due to the fact he never fit and lived up to the expectations but it’s not his fault entirely: 1.) Directly/indirectly related, Canucks let Mitchell walk in free agency that summer who was a complete stud. Ballard was acquired mid season to essentially fill in for Willie’s spot. I say directly/indirectly because if you can recall, Ballard was able to fit under the Canucks cap because the Canucks had so many players on LTIR. The roster as a whole was many $millions above the cap but it was circumvented as players coincidentally came back playoff time where salary cap doesn’t matter (only matters for regular season). And because of that, Willie wasn’t able to re-sign in the off season because it would have put the Canucks over the cap at the start of the campaign. What hurts more is that he was a rock in the back the following years in LA and helped them win a Cup. 2.) the price to get Ballard was no joke. Grabner (promising up&coming 2nd liner at the time) + Bernier (reliable middle6 contributer) + a 1st. The likes of Francois Beauchemin, Ian White & other similar dmen were traded for a much lesser cost that campaign in comparison. 3.) AV didn’t play him. Even when he was played it was limited usage. AV’s was known for his favourites/doghouse and Ballard was part of the latter for whatever reason. It’s one thing to acquire a player for such assets but it’s a completely different thing for the coaching staff to be able to utilize the player. Sadly that wasn’t case. You can say a part that played a factor in that was the Canucks blue line being so deep that season but at the end of the day if that’s the sort of price a team pays for an acquisition, it’s inexcusable to not get the most out of the player. That type of deal is meant to bring in a difference maker; which Ballard was but AV didn’t juice out. ...so when you sum up all those things, it’s fair to say that Ballard was a miss although it wasn’t necessarily his fault for the situation he was in with not being fully utilized/trusted. You can can see why some fans hate was directed towards him as they probably think he cost us a championship when it wasn't directly his fault. Even with Hamhuis going down in the finals, he was healthy scratched. That was supposed to be our difference maker. Turns out he only played 10 games that playoffs. You can call it a big swing and a miss when you look at the big picture as a whole as I’ve tried laying out here.
  3. Raanta is clear Quick *orange orange orange *
  4. What? How can he disagree with something I haven’t even said lol & idc about players opinions, I’m just stating my own is all. I’ve even said in OP players wouldn’t let down and will go all out. I’m just saying it will suck seeing empty celebrations if that were to be the case which isn’t really arguable.
  5. That familiar feeling... Florida can’t await Lindblom’s arrival to the big club a few seasons from now!
  6. That’s nice and all but I’m not talking about losing for the lottery. My reasons have nothing to do with that. More so not wanting to win without the experience/euphoria. ^that is precisely what I mean when I say I’d prefer the Canucks not win this season.
  7. Panthers release Michael Neuvirth to FA
  8. In Edit: however I will be very quiet so I don’t die for no good reason like last game...
  9. I’m not saying it “wouldn’t count”, as people have alluded to teams winning in shortended seasons. M It’s more directed to the circumstances regarding fan involvement (lack of in this case). The entire environment is different as it’ll be empty stadiums. Team’s that win in shortended seasons can still look at the fond memories and see them lifting the Cup with the atmosphere inclusive of fans regardless of home or away...it’s what makes the videos of the Cup being raised so infamous imo. It’s kind of like for those people graduating this year...they graduated which they’ll take but it’s just not the same with not having the ceremonies/events and all. Which likewise, that makes those is the atmosphere AKA having others around (family/friends/fans).

  11. Not the same thing at all though. Winning home/away with fans from either side in building makes it what it is imo
  12. *Disclaimer: this coming from a season ticket holder if it holds any more/less merit.* So with hockey soon to resume, I've been thinking this and would like to hear people's opinions on this. Bottom line for me: it wouldn't be right for the Canucks (or any team as a matter of fact that hasn't already won a Cup or even in a long drought) to win this season as COVID has changed everything. To put into perspective, there's a long time running joke in the English Premier League that Liverpool would never win the League. They hadn't won once in 3 decades. People would say the world would end if they ever did, lo and behold, it literally got to that point. After 30 years they finally dominated this season & were easily pacing to win the EPL. 2 games away from clinching their 1st ever title, COVID suspended the season. The league resumed a couple weeks ago and they just clinched the title the other day. No fans in stadiums. No bus parade. No same atmosphere. No same memories as every other previous winners. Just very very awkward. If it wasn't for COVID, it'd be a very different story (partying/celebrating like never seen before) but that's obviously not the case. ...is this something you'd be okay with as a hockey fan with a similar team that has never won before/long drought if they were to win? Try imagining this, but crickets in the stands as Pietrangelo/Bo lifts the Cup for the 1st time in Blues/Canucks franchise history. It's a very harsh reality those first time teams would have to live with for the rest of eternity. Sure the players will celebrate and won't let down one bit while playing but the circumstances undoubtedly have changed in the grand scheme of things. It just wouldn't be the same. Bitter-sweet would be the best way to put it. So as an avid Canucks supporter myself, I have to ultimately say I'd rather we not hypothetically win this season for the sake of reasons mentioned above. What are your thoughts on this?
  13. Motion Pictured: depicting the amount of trade activity occurring out of Florida, many calling it seismic FLA OR DIE: CLAW OF TRADES 16 - that is amount of trades the Panthers have successfully completed since the start of the regular season, which excludes the draft and FA/off season. It marks a brand new NHL record from the beginning of the season up until the TDL. 23 - number of players shipped out from Florida. 25 - number of players brought to Florida. 10 - draft picks traded. 4 - draft picks acquired. GM EP40. on the deals, now being forced to buckle down & focus for the remainder of the campaign with the group at hand, "Look first off just to set the record straight, Florida is a place where we want players knowing they're safe from being put out on the chopping block whenever things aren't going as planned. There's a long term vision here that we're fully committed to sticking with regardless of what the data may or may not suggest - it's just a whole lot of fake news from some bitter folk on the outside is all. You know, the usual signs of success. It really goes to show how sad of a world we live in when people are breathing down your neck awaiting your demise at every given moment. ...as for the all time single season trades record, yes it's truly an honour to now hold such a prestigious title. Some people just don't get it. You don't become a top top NHL executive by chance all of a sudden and wake up every morning thinking, 'Hey I'm just going to pop some adderall for work from home and look for pointless moves to make!' No. It just never works that way; never will. As with all great things, there is a very complicated science behind it making it a very complex overall process. Every move is calculated to the nth degree. Months - sometimes years - of planning, dedication, and data goes into every single asset coming in or going out from our state of the art research department. It gets alerted at the most basic of levels, then highlighted, followed up by being analyzed, and only after to be turned into a point of discussion, which finally goes up the chain of command *if worthy enough* to the managerial group where the chess pieces are ultimately decided upon. Believe it or not but most trades don't happen. There's a range of factors that come in the way of such processes and these processes have numerous steps which have to be aligned from A-through-Z or else completion is not met. And such is reality. At the end of the day, we've had a historied problem of not being able to sell enough seats in Florida. What better way to keep fans on the edge of their seats than making it as close to a reality TV show as possible where no one knows who will be where come tomorrow! Imagine going to a game, seeing your teams' players. Then next game BAM!, a good chunk are gone. Vanished, in the blink of an eye. Just like in a murder mystery, talk instantly fills the air and people begin paying attention to stay up to speed. It's only natural to do so. This is the same precise strategy we've deployed to keep our fanbase engaged more than ever before and the numbers don't lie. Ticket sales are up 85% compared to last year which are an all time high. Some fans are taking signs to games saying not to trade their favourite players. Little do they know they're falling right into our trap with the price of admission. Best of all, players are afraid of having an off night and it reflects in our team record. Who wants to play a bad game knowing all too well you'll possibly be shipped out from sunny Florida to some stupid place like Edmonton? Hahaha exactly! And any current Panthers players that will ease up now that TDL has passed, to them I say I hope you're reading this..., Honestly though, we're ecstatic with the new group we (continuously) have and are confident they can make some noise come playoffs. Great times lie ahead for Panthers nation as we continue to work hard towards #SellingTickets. As you can now see it's all tied together, the secret's out of the box. Your on-ice product is only as entertaining as your off-ice product. And boy are we ever entertaining outside of the rink! Simply put, the league can't plan for you if you don't know what you'll be doing yourself. Take care and until next time!"
