Guess that's a risk you gotta be willing to take. I would rather see Virtanen get an opportunity with a new coach here, then somewhere else and us take a bad trade back. We clearly have different opinions on the subject, nothing wrong with that.
He's had a few coaches now.

Looking at Jake's last 2 contracts. Both times, he played his best in the final year of his contract and conversely, he played his worst the year before the final year. True to form (first year of a 2 year contract), Virtanen is having an off year this season. If history repeat itself, next year should be a better one for him. So if the Nucks can't trade him this year, they could trade him next year when his value could possibly be higher.
1 year contracts

You just expressed the single biggest reason why we shouldn't move him, as reasoning why we should move him.
So if it goes lower, do you keep letting it go until he gets cut and you get nothing? Like Loui? Just ride out the contract.

name one
Every time he isn't in the press box he is given a chance to earn his playing time. He has become both over rated and over paid. Time to cut bait.

which of those opportunities did you like best for Jakes career progression?
btw
he did not finish last game playing with Horvat
He needs to earn the time, he has been given chances.

Has Jake or Adam been traded yet?
How about Jim or Travis being fired?
So no accountability still?

With this a lost season appearing most likely
If Jake is traded:
Is it more important to fans to trade within division and get a immediate return?
Best player available that would require quarantine and possibly lose in ED ?
Draft pick or protected ED player?
Just move him. His value has never been lower.

Yeah, I get that. There's way too many in this league, or for that matter, look at the fricken' punk ass electricians/plumbers, who pump the pig all day long, wasting everyone's dollars. It happens all over the place.
Usually union workers are the worst offenders

I get that, for sure. But, man, get with the program. You're making 2.5 million minus taxes and agent a year. Snap to it. What would you do for that kind of money?
Some guys do just enough.

Jim Benning is great at drafting and scouting young talent.
Travis Green is a great assistant coach someday.
The Canucks are talented and poorly coached.
The players are now squeezing their sticks to death from the 11 minute mark of the 2nd until the end of game.
No one is being held accountable.

After what he said was an untenable situation in Pittsburgh and resigned, sounds like Jim is looking to join an NHL club again.
Something stinks in Pittsburgh and it isn't just the Allegheny.

So, has anyone been held accountable for this yet or we just accepting this as is?

5 to 7 years under Benning.
.500 record.
Sorry Jim, your 'plan' isn't working.

that wasn't said!
What are you talking about? Pierre just said Benning has contacted every GM.

Something really weird is going to happen in this game.
-
Benning has called every GM in the last few weeks and nothing has happened?
No one wants Jumbo Jim's leftovers

Put Hogs with Petey and Boeser.
Put Miller with Bo and Gaudette
Play Russian Roulette with the left overs

I honestly don't know what the answer is for Jake. Once in awhile he gets the puck with a head of steam and a clear idea where he wants to go. At times like that he is a force, but it happens maybe once every three or four games, for about five to twelve seconds. Too often he is hanging around the blue line in the defensive zone, not doing much of anything and not putting any pressure on the point man. The only advice I would have for Jake is that if you want to play more, play better when you get your chance. Be engaged, peed-off even, make your considerable size and strength count, punish those you play against with fast, tough hockey. Unfortunately for Jake, he is lost and I don't know if he'll ever find what it takes to be the player he could be, but isn't. I really think it is time for a change of scenery, and if he is moved, I will hope he becomes a star. But it won't be in Vancouver.
He seems to play like the friends he is going to see later that day are watching and he wants to be cautious and not embarrass himself. Maybe a change of scenery does it for him.

Give him the Hodgson treatment. Put him in a good role to inflate his #s.
( @oldnews in fairness it's also partly the current situation)
They would, except Jake like to sit on the half wall and wait for the game to come to him. You could play him on PP1 and it still wouldn't amount to much, and I really like Jake's assets.

Our coach isn’t our problem. Having 20 million of tied up salary cap in players not on the team is our problem. Imagine Toffoli and Tanev still being here with leftover cap for Petey and Hughes.
Sounds like a GM issue. Instead of playing you guys, he overpaid for veteran 'leadership' only to watch it not happen.
JB lucked out in Miller.

7000 down to 6950. Nice to see you’ve moderated your opinion from all or every. No different from saying every Trump supporter is a racist. Neither is true.
My opinion hasn't changed. I just haven't met one of those 50. Maybe it's only 4. I haven't met one.
Trump followers aren't all racist?

Yet the population continues to support it rather than demand wholesale fundamental change. The average person is so inundated with life and the pressures that come with it.
Many just grin and bear it, and then exact their revenge at the voting booth, not realizing that the differences between most political parties are superficial, and that most politicians are merely doing the least necessary to keep their meal ticket.
This.
Waiting for the political defenders to attack you saying "run for office" or "come up with a better system" or be told to shut up and don't voice your opinion.
If there 7,000 politicians, 6,950 are disgusting.

(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block

If you've had a couple of coaches (it's 6 when you include the bench coaches) and things are still a problem, you look to the common denominator. That's Jake.
