I believe there has been an adjustment in mindset amongst all the players. As Quinn said, they’re “sick of losing”. I doubt you will see any antics on ice similar to previous occasions…laughing it up with the opponents , losing ones composure and lackadaisical efforts are hopefully all a thing of the past. The atmosphere around this team is no longer like summer camp and the leaders have woken up to that fact. Miller admitted to previously sauntering into training camp 1-2 days prior and starting from there. No longer acceptable.

It was a good opportunity to cast a little light on those 3 core players and recognize them for contributing on and off the ice. Including them today also publicly demonstrates their support for Quinn which instills confidence going forward and contributes to a team mindset. ‘We got your back and we’re standing right beside you.’ i don’t believe Thatcher was ever once seriously considered for the role. He, like Petey, has more important things to focus on.

Tocchet specifically said that was a quality in Quinn’s portfolio that led to him being selected. His willingness and ability to express the hard points as needed. I paraphrase there.

Failure to designate a captain prior to opening night is just going to create yet another distraction contributing to uncertainty amongst the players and fanbase as to this teams identity. We already have key players whose start date is questionable. Seems like every year has turmoil of one sort or another before we’ve even played a game. Would be nice to have a season start with minimal unknowns and distractions.

Won’t have to do this again for a couple of years. Quick pick for the neighbours this am at the backyard wash station. I feed my dog pumpkin all winter , excellent for his health.

3 hours and much (almost too much) coring, seeding and chopping later… Spot the Ghost and Habanero peppers? I put one in each jar but leave them in large (halved) sized pieces. That way they can be avoided or not inadvertently eaten but still provide a nice fruity citrus flavour. I made the mistake of eating a Ghost pepper once and I paid for it for 12 hours. Intense stomach ache and terrible burn.

How about October 11 when the Oilers are in town to open our regular season? I don’t think this team and its fan base require much extra-curricular marketing. Just name the captain and get on with it. I miss the days when there was less hype and fanfare over every conceivable event and milestone. Too much of it imo. They could invite these dudes in for the ceremony.

Thanks for that. I don’t generally buy much at SOF due to prices however I will stick my head in to check out these products. I’ll buy some Rotel and see if I can duplicate it with my garden produce. I do like SOF’s fresh buns. Also found a new pickled pickled pepper dish in the deli section. They’re called Peppadew peppers . They’re usually are happy to let a person sample one… really good.

This looks really good. I had never heard of Rotel until now and had to Google it. Any particular store to find that?

I would not want to be in Tocchet’s bad books either.
