  1. I personally appreciate that Petey seems to always be honest in his answers. Much better than majority of players who just make statements to make the fans happy and we really don't know what's going on in thier head. at the end of the day Petey wants to win and he'll stay in Vancouver long-term if we can win. I'd much rather have a player like that who prioritizes winning over an Ekman-Larsson, Auston Matthews, Patrick Laine, Pierre-Luc Dubois and others who prioritize lifestyle also i'm sure many players are currently debating short-term vs. long-term strategies. if Petey sign s a 8 year deal he'll be a UFA at 33 i believe. Chances are his age 33+ contract will not be that great. If he's looking to maximize his earnings than it makes more sense to sign a 3-4 year deal so he can be a UFA at age 28-29 and cash in one more time. Although there's risk with this approach.
  2. is there any info out there in regards to the attendance list at the Gala? the other 4 CHL players, while not part of Team canada, could it be possible that they were still top prospects and/or already drafted by NHL teams and may be in the NHL already? i think the other names that are just identified as CHL players might surprise us. The only reason i think that the Team Canada players have been giving statements is because the spotlight was shined on them and players wanted to clear the air.
  3. Just present it to his agent in a legally appropriate way... i.e. "We intend on sending your client down to the minors but, if your client prefers to pursue other opportunities we are willing to mutually terminate the contract. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find any trade partners for Tyler Myers". I'm telling you, if there's really no strings attached to mutual terminations it makes perfect sense for both the Canucks and Tyler myers once the bonus is paid. Myers could make more real money. He must know that the probability of the Canucks offering him a contract extensions are slim to none...
  4. and tell Myers if he isn't willing to mutually terminate his contract than he'll have to ride the bus down in the AHL
  5. or better yet, Myers terminates his contract of 6M cap hit + 1M in salary, and than resigns with the Canucks at 2M cap + salary. 4M cap savings and Myers gets an extra million in his pocket! Is this a CBA loop hole?
  6. so you're telling me that the Canucks and Tyler Myers could decide to mutually terminate their agreement just like that and the cap hit would come off the books? I see benefits for both sides... 1. after bonus is paid out, Myers is only scheduled to make 1 million in salary. if he elects to terminate his contract I think he could easily find a 1.5M/2M contract to sign somewhere. he'd end up making more money at end of the year. 2. Canucks drop the cap... just like that?
  7. Because Yzerman is five steps ahead of every other GM, he plays 4D chess while, and never makes a mistake.
  8. It's hilarious how many people are drinking Yzerman kool-aid
  9. To Vancouver: Silfverberg To Anaheim: Garland, Rathbone, Bains, 3rd round pick 2024. Why for Vancouver? Clear cap in year 2 and 3 as Silf is a pending UFA after this season. Also Silfverberg has had 3 rough years but, he can PK, wins battles along the boards, offers leadership and I really think he would be the perfect linemate for Kuzy and Petey. Rathbone is also not waiver eligible and the canucks have too much D depth to keep him. Why for Anaheim? Silfverberg has low value and they take a chance on Rathbone to see if he can put it together. Garland gives me a 50 point winger that just entered his prime. And yes Anaheim could hang on to Silfverberg until the TDl and see if he can up his value so they can get a better return but, that is not guaranteed. Thoughts? Kuzy - Petey - Silfverberg Mikheyev - Miller - Boeser Pearson - Buegler - Hoglander Beauvellier - Aman - Podkolzin Joshua - Studnicka
  10. I wouldn't state we missed out because that implies ROR wanted to come here. At 4.5 cap hit ROR chose to go to Nashville, that's a bargain and high probability there were much better $ offers out there.
  11. First strong Ufa signing? Kuzmenko? Aman? Mikheyev? Maybe even Johansen, Hirose, McWard, and Joshua if they develop
  12. Potentially but that would've taken up a contract slot, and you would be potentially competitive with other teams. Managing a prospect pool is also about managing contracts and signing rights
