  1. It's literally the only option that a nonlunatic management would take at this point, really.
  2. Was looking at the standings when we were down. We don’t have a prayer of finishing bottom 3. Might as well try to win.
  3. If we don’t tank hard enough for Bedard, I truly think this franchise will be toast within the half decade. Or to modify that, we certainly won’t be on the track to being good without him. Trade everyone basically, fire BB and the assistant clowns immediately and tank as hard as you can.
  4. How much of this is on Martin? Was in the shower and missed a lot of the 1st. Is he not making the ‘big saves’?
  5. Yeah, if we lose tomorrow and the Flames win, I think that's curtains for any slim playoff hopes.
  6. Is Demko playing injured? Is that why SM is outplaying him this year? Also, what is Demko's injury? Was it the same one from last season? If so, why was it not fully repaired in the off-season? 'Sup? (6 questions there!)
  7. Well, again, I feel stupid. I made a promise to myself to BELIEVE the math this year after refusing to listen to it last season and ending up in total devastation when we missed the playoffs (well, after Horvat went down with the broken leg, really, because that was the sign it was over). I didn't realize we were basically already in the mathematical spot we were in just before Bruce came on board last December. That's a real downer. And yeah finishing 11th-14th and missing way out on Bedard is not acceptable in the slightest. I wish I had asked questions before posting this thread now. That said, let's be realisitc. FA is never going to sell the team. The best we can hope for is his family taking over. Also, calling the Sedins whores is really unaceeptable no matter how dire the circumstances. There are other more productive ways to express our frustration as fans. Also, I've come to CDC and Cancuks message boards since 2002 because I was used to hard-hitting fascinating analytical posts like yours and AVs and others. So, seeing a thread degenerate the way the Rogers announcement thread was kind of a p****-off. Lastly, I didn't mean that those criticizing the team weren't true fans. I just think that sometimes toxicity in disappointment can lead to results completely opposite than what you want.
  8. Wow. I honestly feel like I'm an idiot for posting this now after reading your analysis. Would the analysis change if we have two 7-game winning streaks or two 6-game winning streads with the next being an OTL like we did last year? Also, you know how the NHl has a L10 on the standings page, right? If we had a 9-1-1 L10 at some point this season, would that erase the hole dug at the start of the season. or still not good enough (this core has done that at points, I believe)? Presumably, a couple streaks beating times we should beat would provide some cushion when we face those teams that we are not equal to? There's nothing I respond to more than solid math and fact-based arguments, really, like the one you gave above.
  9. Also, I don't believe in quick fixes. Bedard and a new owner wouldn't necessarily turn this franchise around. It may, but it's not guaranteed. Look at Eichel in Buffalo. Matthews and Marner in Toronto.
  10. If that's where we are at the end of the season, I would 1000% agree with you. Not enough evidence for that yet though.
  11. I just want to clarify some things: 1) I was actually all in on Tank for Bedard until I saw the team show up last Thursday and Friday nights. THAT was the team that went at like a .650 pace under Boudreau last year. I don't think it is at all unreasonable to at least suspend the pitchforks and burnings-at-the-steak until we get a sense of what this team really is. Are they the tire fire of the opening part of the season or the team that chased the Penguins right out of Vancouver? 2) Suspending the outrage while the team is doing well is not that unreasonable If they pile up 3 losses this week, well then by all means let's burn-em' at the steak like you want to do next week. 3) I think it is absurd to call for momumental changes to a team based on a 7-game sample size when eventual bottom feeders are typically seen #1 in the entire league early on. 4) I can forward you a copy of my college degree and high school transcripts to show you just how superb my reading comprehension is. Actually, I'd be willing to get you into touch with former professors, my current employer and my old high school teachers if you doubt that English was my best subject, straight As in-class and then 80% on the English 12 provncial. Just goes to prove my point, you responded to me by acting like a high school bully would. 5) If one is willing to let himself be whored, that, by definition, would make him a whore. If you weren't a whore, you wouldn't let yourself get whored out, would you? Also, please do tell me where it says in their contract that the consultant role does not extend to the business operations side of the Canucks. 6) CDC didn't used to be as toxic as HF. I'm surprised it now is. 7) I'm not claiming to be a morally superior fan at all. I'm just saying that it is literally insane to judge a whole season based on 7 games, as many of you on here are. Lastly, all I am saying is let's just see what we have here before we display this apoleptic rage. The COVID crises and Green firing disrupted what could have been last season.
  12. But calling the Sedins whores wins championships how? The bullying and taunting of the Canucks wins championships how? One thing I could see it actually doing is running the whole NHL out of Vancouver.
  13. There was a post here this afternoon, by a prolific poster, that called the Sedins whores. The greatest players to ever play for us were called whores today!! That's not acceptable. Also the announcement thread reminded me of a bunch of high-school emotional bullies, just engaging in an endless taunting session of their designated victim.
  14. The hatred is palpable for the Canucks here. I just read post after post on the Rogers extension thread calling Aqualini a child-abuser when these allegations are unproven in a court of law and by no means confirmed and demanding the team be sold. Sold to whom? Who the heck is your new owner lined up that will be guaranteed to spend to the cap? Pray tell. Also, just so you all know, the Maple Leafs went 2-7 to open the season last year and finished with 115 points. Look it up if you don't believe me. I'm truly appalled that the vast majority of you on here have already written off any chance this team has to make the playoffs. Also, the hatred here for a lot of our players is really off the charts. It must be a real joy playing for the Canucks, knowing that the fan base hates your guts. Is any player on this team safe from your hatred? Also, Jim Rutherford has won multiple Stanley Cups. The only thing I can assume is that it is ageism that makes JR so despised by the fan base when he was just hired a year ago. ANYONE else with his pedigree would have far more of a leash. GROW THE HECK UP. Also, could you possibly wait until our current win streak ends, and we see where we are after the next back-to-back against Ottawa and Montreal a week from now. before you demaind a total rebuild and firing of all present ownership and management? Most fans would be happy with their team after a 2-game winning streak. Not this drivel of hatred, we get here. Honestly, if most Canucks fans are like the posts I see on here, we simply.do.not.deserve.a.cup. I could see the rage if we were verified legit out of the playoffs by American Thanksgiving, but I see ZERO indication of that happening at this point. Also, the past does not always and necessarily predict the future people. This apoleptic rage is really stunning and disturbing (freaky) to be honest, especially given the team hasn't played 100% healthy (starting to get there) and has been starting to play well recently.
  15. I guess it's hard to say, but speaking of the Pacific, if nothing changes, save an adjustment to the defence, right now where do you see us finishing, in the Pacific only I mean?
  16. But trade Myers/Pearson/Garland/Dickinson for prospects, cap dump and D though, not our best player.
  17. Trading JT Miller will destroy this core (unless we can somehow get Malkin or Marner) and set us up to go on a 11-year playoff absence run. I can guarantee you that trading him would just get a Kessler-like return, at best. Nothing to write home about. Thank god the NYI deal fell apart. For those of you concerned with the cap and a RHD, the key is keeping JTM and getting rid of Pearson/Dickinson/Garland/Poolman/Myers. That's your cap dump right there. Why can't we get rid of those plugs instead of a #1 center???
  18. I think the 2007-2013 Canucks were horrible, TBH, Alf. Letting a 3-0 series lead evaporate against Chicago, which probably injured a lot of our key guys along with just regular wear and tear, letting the most number of goals in a Stanley Cup Final game in history, blowing a 3-1 lead against St. Louis in 2007, checking out and not even really caring that it was Linden's final game in 2008 since they had just missed the playoffs, the LA debacle of going down 3-0 when they had just won the president's trophy, heck the near-disaster against the KIngs that the 2010 series win was, just barely scraping by them when we should have easily won, the 2 cataclysmic series against the Blackhawks in 2009 and 2010 where Luongo was a complete gong show not to mention the 2013 team getting swept away easily by San Jose in the first round and just getting lucky against the Sharks in the WCF when we were clearly outplayed by them in 2011. If that horrendous nightmare is the benchmark of success, I want nothing to do with it. There wasn't a single playoff run in that whole 2007-2013 timeframe where we could be legitimately proud of the boys. You can bring home the cup in Game 6 and the score is 3-0 within the first 10 minutes? I never want to endure anything like that ever again. I think JR/PA can build us a team that won't leave as many horrible memories as that 2007-2013 trainwreck did. If he's anywhere near as good as he seems, JR will leave Nonis/Burke and Gillis in the dust. As an aside, the Sedins could never deliver when it truly mattered when we really needed them. I have confidence that a core consisting of Miller/Horvat/Hughes/Boesser/EP40/healthy Demko will step up in the playoffs and deliver when the game is on the line, IF JR/PA can build an appropriate supporting cast. The Sedins had a wonderful supporting cast and they disappeared while it was basically left to poor Kessler and Burrows (or Luongo on the nights when he wasn't insane and had to make like 50+ saves to keep us in the game) to get us the playoff wins we did get. No disappearing twin brothers and no head-case goalie this time. I never heard the Sedins say something like Bo said. Bo said "I want to bring a cup to Vancouver SO BAD." Bo will do anything to get us that cup. I'm not sure the Sedins were capable. “Every single year, I feel like at the year-end press conference we're talking about the same thing: how we're going to be better next year,” Horvat told Sportsnet after his televised availability. “It is frustrating; I'm not going to lie. Eight years (in Vancouver)... I want to make the playoffs. I want to be playing for a Stanley Cup. But I want to do it with this organization so bad. I just think it would be unbelievable to bring a Cup here to Vancouver. The organization deserves it, the fans deserve it, and I want to be the one to do it. I'm going to talk to management and see what their plans are, but as for me, I'm a Vancouver Canuck and I want to stay that way.” The true heir to Linden, right there. Not Hank or Daniel. I have ZERO fond memories of that 2011 playoff run. It started with a near-cataclysm against the Hawks and ended with the whole city of Vancouver going up in flames literally. Even though we didn't make the playoffs this season, I look back and am so proud of the boys for turning it on as much as they did in the 2nd half. They showed such heart and belief. The true heart of a champion. There's nothing to be proud of vis-a-vis the 2010/11/12/13 Canucks. P.S.: Not really responding to anything you said, I guess. Just venting my anger (still) at that era of the Canucks and all their drama.
  19. This is a tremendous day. The best thing to happen to the Canucks and their fans since we went up 2-0 in OT in Game 2 against Boston in the SCF!
  20. Watched the entire OT, the trophy presentation and the Sportsnet post-game coverage to revel in the Oilers defeat. Truly awesome. Glad that my theory that the Stanley Cup wants to return to Canada but only when it can return to Vancouver is still intact. No Canadian team wins yet again and the chance that we could be the ones to bring the cup home to Canada lives on!
  21. Also, the Alberta teams are arch-rivals of the Canucks. No TRUE Canuck fan would be on here calling the captain of one of the enemy teams, McJesus.
  22. Thanks guys. I was freaking over what it would mean if the Soilers got to go against the Avs backup. Glad it's not cataclysmic.
  23. Just a note, I'm Christian even though I've never attended a church regularly in my life. I do accept Jesus Christ as my saviour though and anyone calling that clown McJesus, I take as a slam against my Lord. It's highly offensive.
  24. Y'll are missing the biggest story of the NHL season really. Kuemper's status for the remainder of the series will determine if Edmonton wins the SC or not.
