  1. If we win, we're just 4 points back of the Stars for the wildcard! Just moments away now. Kind of nervous as the Sharks lost to the Oilers and Flames, and the Flames, Oilers and Canucks never all beat the same opponent back-to-back-to-back and we also just barely won the last game against them in OT 5-4. One of the biggest games of the year. GCG!
  2. THIS. 1000% percent. Probably, counterintuitively, the game that decides the playoffs for us and like you said the fate of a huge chunk of the core.
  3. Haha but yeah, the enormity of this Stars loss, if we win tonight, cannot be overstated! LFG Canucks!!
  4. If you want to know the identity of this team, I have 2 numbers for you. They are 53! The Canucks are Bo Horvat and Bo Horvat is the Canucks. A very solid identity to have. His team, his leadership, his style and soon to be his cup! Wait until you see his playoff performance. Conn Smythe, anyone?
  5. Just as an aside, Bo Horvat seems like an amazing man, the perfect successor to Henrik Sedin, and I would quite literally trust him with my life. He's all in on this team. It's awesome that we traded Corey Schneider, who ended up being no good, for this legend at the 2013 draft! Hopefully, we have him from his draft to his retirement
  6. I don't see the Knights getting over 90 points looking at their remaining games. That means the race is between the Canucks and the Stars for the wildcard. The back-to-back games on April 28th and 29th will decide things.
  7. Rather than looking at it like we need, say, 98 points to get in, I would look at the Stars, Canucks and Knights upcoming schedules, project out the likely wins for all 3 teams, project an upset or two, and then see where we are. I haven't done that for all 3 yet, but I should get going on that shortly here. The Jets falling to the Red Wings tonight is massive for our chances, btw, and indicative of the upsets that could happen to all 3 final wildcard contenders.
  8. Have either of you two even looked at our remaining schedule and the wins we should be able to rack up?
  9. So if we defeat Arizona and San Jose (don't look past them, boys), we will possibly be tied for a playoff spot, allocating for games in hand, come Saturday night around this very moment!! 82, to 76 now. Victories over the Coyotes and the Sharks makes it quite possibly 82-80! or 82-82 allocating the game in hand
  10. Not really interested in trading core players for futures if it means we don't see the playoffs until at least 2030. I expect management to do what needs to be done to have us in the playoffs in 2022-2023 in this year's off season. No playoffs in '16, '17, '18, '19, '21, '22, '23, '24, 25 and beyond could very well spell financial ruin for the franchise. Not at all interested in cheering for a team that's not even in the playoff conversation for years to come, personally. Also, do you think Quinn and Elias will not demand to be traded if we can't promise them a playoff run for years? Honestly, it's time for Thatcher, Elias and Quinn to all refuse to report until traded if management/ownership can't fix this mess ASAP. Remember Quinn and Elias's press conference upon re-signing? They mentioned that they had high hopes for the team doing well this year. If I were them, I would not accept a step-back next season without demanding to be traded. Why would they want to play for a management group that lies it's behind off to them? And judging by post after post on this board, we are a long, long, long way away from even sniffing a playoff spot.
  11. There just isn't a single game remaining that is not winnable, except maybe Calgary since it's in Calgary. Was sure we were done at the first shock of the OT loss but if we get 7/8 points against Vegas and the Stars and those games against the Kraken, Coyotes, Sens and Sharks, well then, the final 2 games against the Kings and Oilers may matter a lot.
  12. Fair enough. Perfectly reasonable. Can't really argue but I would just leave you with this thought. If we hadn't had the showdown with 43 and 40 over contract extensions during the summer and the pre-season, (who knows how that affected their play), the COVID outbreaks, the Green debacle, and possibly the Hamonic cancer in the locker room, it's quite possible we'd be battling it out with Calgary for first in the division given the record since Boudreau is over .600, I think anyways. I guess what I'm saying is that I think at our absolute best, we go toe-to-toe with Calgary. Of course, they face no injury bad luck whatsoever while we face an injury seemingly every game. They also have fair officiating while the refs have it out for us. I really thought us having Rutherford and Granato would make the league hate us at least a tintsy bit less. If there's a way to break down those categories post-Boudreau and pre-Boudreau, I'd be very interested in the results.
  13. Go back to the 2011 President Trophy run. I'm pretty sure we had similar stats in a lot of the categories that you just mentioned in the regular season and it didn't matter come playoff time. I mean, I would argue that we didn't play well at all in the 2011 playoffs. Chicago, the 8th seed, came back from 3-0 down and what was it, hit a post on a PP in OT in Game 7 to avoid humiliating us. We only got past Nashville because of one guy, Kessler. We were basically no-shows in the SCF. What was it? Something like just 10 goals in the whole series? Also, how many games in that playoff run did we lose by like 5-6+ goals. Also, I don't think anyone could have predicted the Kings would make a mockery of us in 5 games in the second president's trophy year, 2012. Analytically, one should pick Calgary to stomp us 7 days a week 100% of the time but the same argument could have been made for us in 2011 and 2012. I was with you back then on stats. We swept a lot of those categories in the regular season and thought there was no way we could lose but those regular season stats meant nothing from Game 4 on of the Chicago series. Also, President Trophy's winners should win the Cup near 100% of the time if these stats really matter, but the President's Trophy is decidedly not a guarantee of the cup. It's not called the president trophy's curse for nothing. The stats would suggest Calgary towers over us, yes, but the 3 games against them so far this year don't bear that out even. Now, I know that Calgary is not winning the PT but they are still in the hunt, at least, for it. EDIT: I'm just saying I think the cup is won on intangibles rather than stats. One of those intangibles is Sutter. He's won 3 cups already, right? Crosby and Toews have only won 3 each. Hard to see Sutter getting 4 cups in 10 years in this era of parity.
  14. That 2021 Vegas team sure is undeniably on another level than those lowly 2021 Montreal Canadiens. Oh...wait... That Gonzaga team sure is an on a different level than the other elite 8. Oh...wait. Those 2011 Vancouver Canucks are undeniably on a different level than the 2011 Boston Bruins. Oh..wait. Those 2019 Tampa Bay Lightning sure are on a different level than the the 2019 Columbus Blue Jackets. I remember when they swept the lowly Jackets in 4 straight games. Oh..wait...I think I may have it backwards. This team that is supposedly on another level than us, we have 3 points from in the season series so far and if JTM hadn't made that bonehad play in OT to Gaudreau, who knows what would have happened in that game decided 1-0. I could not more strongly disagree that they are on a different level entirely. I strongly believe that this team has the underdog ingredients that should make "overdogs" nervous about us. I would vehemently argue that Vancouver would not be an easy, 5 games or less out, against Calgary in a playoff series.
  15. Under Green, you may have lol but no such luck since Boudreau took over. The payout is more like you win $130 on a $100 bet, for a total of $230. BTW, I was thinking we'd win tomorrow but with the odds being so horrendous against us, it's given me pause.
  16. So, I just noticed that the sportsbooks and the online computer models are pretty much unanimously saying we have zero chance against the mighty Dallas Stars tomorrow. Like our odds of winning are about 1-1/2 times and in the 30% range. Maybe, we should just forfeit now since the mighty Sportsbooks and computer models have spoken?
  17. Gotta say. more impressed with Halak than Demko, as of late. Thanks Demmer, but maybe it's time you sit for a while in favour of Halak You need a break after being the sole reason we won a lot of games. We're outshooting the Wild but you're not closing the door.
  18. Huge, huge win tonight! Wow! Watched every game basically of the 2010-2013 era Canucks, even attended Game 1 of the SCF, but I would honestly pick this team over that one. So much heart. So much class. That team could win President's Trophies and division titles but was rough in the playoffs. These boys seem the opposite. You can also tell they want it bad, like super, super bad. I was too young to really follow the 1994 run but it feels like this team is a lot like the 1994-era Canucks. I fell in love with this team when they took over 1st in the division for a month back in 2020 before the pandemic hit and then their sensational performance in the bubble was icing on the cake. It's so wonderful seeing them revert back to that form. Beating LA 8-0 in Captain Bo's first game after getting the big C might have helped attach me to this core. It really does feel like we're regaining some of that #1 in the Pacific for 30 days/bubble magic. I feel like this team has such outstanding character (I mean how can you not love Huggy Bear, Captain Bo, JTM, Boes, Demko, Dermott) that all of Canada could unite around it, unlike hating us like they did back in 2011. No ear biters on this team. Just pure class. Pure skill. Pure heart. Did you see the way Halak and Demko followed by Garland and Demko celebrated the win? That's something special right there too. No cancers in the room, at least not anymore. As far as the refs goes, them waiving off the icing at the end of the game made me think that perhaps they have a bit of integrity after all. So I'll withhold judgment. Plus, if this is a team of destiny, a few bad calls can't stop that anyways.
  19. We're not taking penalties, Vintage. The refs will continually call penalties on us until it's 3-2 Avs, deserved or not. I'd bet my life on it.
