Ownership isn’t the one making trades. Benning goes to the owner about a trade, all he has to do is sell it to Aquaman and it’s a done deal.

FA has blame for sure. But us being where we are today is mostly Benning. That OEL trade set us back 6 years that’s what I’m referring to.

There is absolutely no way we can afford to re sign Petey, Hronek, our RFA’s, while also signing players to key roster spots, while OEL is taking is up 7.2M. OEL needs to be bought out next year if we have any chance at salvaging our core’s future.

In the real world, owners are owners, they aquire proper people to run the company. In this case Linden or Benning is brought in to run the company. They don’t need to sell a trade idea to the owner, they are in charge of making the right call and get paid to do that. A CEO, President, GM etc does not run to the owner with this stuff. An OEL buyout might be something they might discuss, but in general the owner just wants his money or money and success in this case. If he didn’t trust his GM or President, he’d do the job himself.

Agreed.  Does every one of these f**king threads have to f**king devolve into a f**king pissing contest about which f**king GM sucked harder than the other f**king ones?  :picard:

The topic should be edited to [Trade] Benning, Linden, Tortorella, Desjardins and Green for Rutherford, Allvin, Tocchet and a 2nd in 2017 (55th overall).

all topics should be named that, unless it is about trading Miller or signing Tryamkin.

Free prospects are great, but I have a question for those who know more/better: are NCAA players as coveted as years past? I say this because it seems like more and more guys that are coveted are already pretty old, so I wonder if NCAA players are as impactful as they used to be?

Definitely not an expert here on prospects in general, but with covid and everything it brought with it, I’m sure some guys didn’t progress ’normally’ and I’m sure scouts didn’t get to see them as much as before.

  4. I might be your age at some point, typing here and still no cup. Rebuild or not. People can boycott if they like but to me that is totally pointless. If this is so bad why not follow frisbeegolf on TV?

I welcome the challenge and being the underdog going into the season every year. It’s been like that a lot lately. Of course it hurts when we don’t get there (cup) but 31 teams dont get there - every single year.
I’d love for us to win a cup, but I wont do it as a part-time fan or hater of the team. (not saying you are, just in general)

Exciting times ahead. I feel good about the direction we are headed. Chin up everyone!

In terms of the Hronek trade, Vancouver had been needing an effective right shot defenseman.  He said getting a 25 yr old, cost controlled right hand defenseman that fits a team need was never going to be cheap.

    He was asked "why now?"

He responded along the lines of "Demko, Hughes, Hronek, Miller, Kuzmenko, Pettersson are players you win with now"

He pretty much confirmed these 6 as the core moving forward.

    Spooshy’s recap

We got something for both Lazar and Stillman. I think that is a win for sure. They had a chance here, didn’t work out and we still got some value. Good job all around.

Bo and the return was ok, even including Hronek and all the parts around that. Losing the first sucks but still worth it in my mind. Beauvillier has been better than expected so far. Hope he can keep that up but not sure he can.

Kravtsov is a questionmark but the potential is there for him to fit in nicely. Other smaller parts moving gives us a chance to add something else.

All in all I’m (again) clearly in the minority here, but I’m pretty happy with how everything has unfolded. You always hope for a big splash and a big name coming onboard but good pieces have been added.

If we buy out OEL and move Myers after his signing bonus, I feel like we have done a good job of moving on from our issues and can focus on our (possibly bright) future.

    Thoughts CDC?

I am wondering if Brock can be an effective 3rd liner with 2PP time? If needed he can move up the lineup. That might be how it plays out for him as long as he is in Vancouver.

For one, he needs to find his game and stay at the level he can sustain. You can’t get 100% out of everyone every game.

As for coaching, we have been juggling lines for how many years now? He looks like he needs a spot and linemates he can play with for a longer period of time. Most players do and we have been trying out stuff for years and dont seem to settle down and work with the same lines. Three, four coaches now and we do the same thing. I’m sure they know better but I think we should plan, execute and give it some time. It’s not like we are close and in a hurry right now. Find some chemistry and work with it. Brock is a good player to have.
