That's a bargain.

Slow starts have haunted this franchise forever. Frustrating as hell and I'm convinced it's something to do with the West Coast lifestyle, lol.
This year we don't have TG still evaluating the lineup 20 games into the season. I suspect that lesson has been fully learned now.

Chicago needs D and has the cap space.

Myers to ??. Sign Klingberg.
Miller to ??. Sign Bergeron.
Probably not going to happen, but there is a way to gain assets and improve. Specifically, we could use more young RD in the cupboard. -
I'd like to see the arena dimensions increased in width. I heard Burke say one time that it would be too hard to go full Olympic dimensions. However, it wouldn't be as hard to increase the width by 5 feet on each side and only loose the first row of seats. A little more time and space could make the game more fun to watch.

Calgary now has 9 D-men, and Florida is over the CAP. More moves are coming.

Who is left for goalie on the trade market? Edmonton and Seattle can't be happy the way things sit right now.
-
I like the goalie offseason shuffle, Edmonton signs the goalie that couldn't get the Leafs past the first round of playoffs. The Leafs then turn around and sign Ottawa goalie that didn't get them into the playoffs. It's a bit of a head scratcher.

Locking up Burakovsky & getting Bjorkstrand for a couple years, plus Wright-with-a-chip-on-his-shoulder and some zone exit/PP help with cheapy Schultz, and a full season of Beniers - Seattle might be a bit better next year.
I like the move and it gives them a lot of flexibility moving forward. If they make the playoffs they are in a position to add. If they don't make it, they can sell and collect more assets. Lots of ways they can weaponize cap space because none of those contracts are too terrible.

That's a heck of a steal for Seattle!
They can keep the player, or they could also turn around and flip for picks, and probably get back more than they gave. Actually, they've done a good job of having a pool of players to flip at the TDL to get more picks. I bet they aren't done yet. -
In order to compete, our D needs to get closer to what Colorado or Tampa have. I think we make the playoffs if we stay healthy all year, we just aren't good enough on the back end to go all the way. We are short 2-3 good young D. Rathbone could be one of them. We also need one more elite D-main. OEL isn't quite that player that you can rely on in any situation. I'd take Hedman every time instead. Some of the statistics posted above also seem to show that.

This is the funniest Canucks picture of the last 10 years
I'm not sure if this is top spot for video footage, but I'd rate it top ten at least.

He won't even play in the NHL on that team. And if he did, that would take them from contender to pretender.

I smell another first round exit with this signing.

No idea why they did this? Oh well, another year of same Oilers repeating same mistakes.

Power play going to be really confusing:
Pettersson to Petteresson. Pass to Pearson, over to Podkolzin, back to Petterson and around the boards to Perrson, back to Petterson.
Maybe call it the 5-pete line. -
Trade down for Pickering? I have no idea what they are going to do.
-
So, who's it going to be? Getting close now. Any notables left on the board?
Name That Canuck!
