  1. I extrapolated the remaining games based on current winning percentages. For VAN, I used only Bruce's coaching record, and ignored the Travis Green portion. This ignores trade deadline changes, and interplay schedule between teams.

    CGY   50-22-10    110
    LA       44-28-10    98
    EDM   45-31-6      96
    NASH 47-30-5      99
    DAL    46-32-4      96
    VAN    40-31-11    91
    VGK    42-35-5      89
    WPG   38-31-13    89

Van would go 9-5-3 in the final stretch. DAL has an eas(ier) schedule, but has to play VAN twice. Edmonton and VAN have a tougher schedule. Conclusion: We need DAL or EDM to crap the bed, and it can't be against WPG or VGK too many times. We need to have a run of something like 12/17 games to make it to playoffs.

  2. I just ran the numbers, and that's surprising. If you extrapolate the teams record under Bruce, and cancel Travis Green portion of the season, we'd be in a battle with Calgary right now for first in the division. The team clearly needs to improve on D though. We have a few more prospects graduating next season. We may be just 1 or 2 hockey trades away from truly competing.

He looks bigger than I thought.  Checked and he's listed at 6'1 and 190.  He's only 22 too.  Looks like, if he's tough enough to put up with the crap that comes with  being a skilled guy in the NHL, we have another good player.

He will finish out his regular season in the next couple days and probably make a deep run in the SHL playoffs. After his season is over, I expect the Canucks will sign him a week after his season ends. He probably isn't going to be in the lineup this season, but I think he's a lock to make the team next year, at which time he will be turning 23 (Nov).

Except we need a placeholder cause we have zero center depth right now.

This is about necessity more than anything.

That's true, and I think most people understand this is to fill 4th line hole in the lineup for this season. He's got some good PK and faceoff experience. He will help the younger guys learn a few things.

It has nothing to do with next year, as we have Linus Karlsson make a push. In other news, Karlsson just broke Petey's goal record in the SHL by a rookie. He's older than Petey was at the time, but it's still a good sign. And if that doesn't work out, there will be all sorts of options in the off season.
