  1. Infowars.com is what happens when Glen Beck loses his job at Fox News. So don't cite them as a source guys.
  2. Massive conflicting reports. Infowars isn't really a reliable news source. If it shows up on Reuters, then it's reliable.
  3. Over 9000 unaccounted for in one of the coastal towns.
  4. Twitter is always great at the beginning, but eventually it just becomes RT's of RT's of RT's and you don't know if you're getting new or old information. There's always people late to the party who caption with "BREAKING NEWS" and it's 2 days old. This has been very valuable for me: http://live.reuters.com/Event/Japan_earthquake2
  5. Many mixed opinions on the dangers of the reactor in Japan. You can only crawl through so many before it just becomes frustrating. It's literally a wait-and-see event.

after chernoble, i would be nervous that their reactors can withstand that great of a quake...i hope they have prepared for such happenings if that is possibllity....all we can do, is stand together and stay positive.

The official reports are far, far more optimistic than the reports coming out of CNN and the other major news outlets. The more this goes on and it becomes evident it's not as bad as they say, the more I'm inclined to believe they are simply being sensationalist for their own ratings.

It upsets me to no end because I'm desperate to know what the facts are.

  6. I tried to read it. I couldn't get past a few. It was too much.
  7. He had a cameo appearance on Big Bang Theory too, if I recall.
  8. Honey, where did we park? Sorry, it's one of those situations where I'm trying to laugh to keep from crying. I don't know if we've ever had a disaster of this scale in such a developed country where access to video and internet was so readily available. The amount of pictures and videos emerging can simply inundate you. They are incredibly sobering.
  9. LOL, oh yeah I know him! He had a brief interview in one of the 2012 specials. I just searched him on youtube. Thanks for reminding me. He's hilarious too. Edit: Although Bill Nye is awesome if for nothing more than nostalgia.
  10. Yeah, Megan Kelly is one of those people who seems to actively try to be ignorant. I was half-expecting her to blame wizards or claim it to be a liberal plot. I love Michio Kaku too. Science of the Impossible is fun to watch, although he frequently stretches the imagination a little. But it's certainly captivating. He's probably the most charismatic scientist outside of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
  11. Up close video of the tsunami: You can see the truly devastating power as cars, boats and entire homes are swept up. Jump to 1:15 to see it.
  12. Take your rest as much as you can. If there's one thing that the Japanese are good at it's getting back to normal. Those who have no home now will have a hard time. But it really is the key. I think we've had our moment of despair and now the best thing is to reclaim our lives. Yes, the wife and kids are safe and resting and it's hard for me to ask for more than that right now. I crashed last night around 4am and it appears when I woke up that nothing worse has really happened and it appears some good news out of Fukushima. They're able to cool the core with sea water while they try to repair the cooling system. It'll be tentative for a few days while it happens, but looks like it may not be as bad as we feared.
  13. It appears most of the people have been evacuated. It appears that there are many mixed reports coming out and they are doing more psychological damage control than physical. But this is the Japanese government, so what else is new?
  14. Good night and thanks for bringing your great spirit.
  15. They still have internet there though.
  16. lol, you already know me. I don't think I can sleep though. I have a makeshift bed on the floor here beside my computer in my office and I just lay and watch them but I can't close my eyes. It's comforting to see them. As I wrote this, there have been 2 more aftershocks of 2 and 3, but it appears nothing huge. They don't seem to be worried at all about the state of the reactor. They'll notify me as soon as there is more news about it.
  17. I know Chiba, just east of Tokyo. If you have family in the south of Japan I recommend you go there. I have a cousin if Gifu, but they don't want to leave. If it gets worse they can go there, but I fear if the news gets worse that the train system will be overloaded with people evacuating. They are very calm about this situation and keep telling me not to worry. Maybe we are worrying too much?
  18. It's ok. He's right, I'm not the only one. It's just been the stress because I haven't slept or ate really since this whole thing started. It's been 28 hours without break and I'm too high strung. I shouldn't have reacted like that. No matter how trying this has been, what they are experiencing now is far more. They are the ones who need us.
  19. Be safe and if you can get out of the area until we have official reports, I recommend you do so. Whereabouts are you in Japan? My family is in Kiryu, Gunma.
  20. I'm sorry. I've just been through a lot with my family there. I didn't read what he said, I just reacted. I'm sorry about that, really. I hope you can accept my apology.
  21. Sorry. I'm on high edge right now. I didn't mean to snap at you. I hope you can accept my apologies.
  22. Taken from wikipedia. I don't like the look of it.
