I think management thought our window would crack open during/after next year. Just look at how our veteran contracts are structured to come off.

You know what they say about best laid plans though... Pettersson and Hughes forcefully cracked that window open this year whether we 'like' it or not.

Now, on top of that, we may have an OEL deal fall in our lap to acquire a top pair D at a discount. You don't simply ignore these things because they don't fit what you thought was your timeline.

I am fine if the timeline is sooner but not if it means losing a good young player and high picks.

  2. Am I the only one wondering how we went from a slow rebuild with some great young players to a what seems like a full blown "win now" mode? Have we overrated what was a nice little surprise run in the bubble? Wasn't our window supposed to be another couple years away?

If we can lose some bad contracts in this deal I guess thats fine but will be really bummed if we lose a good young player or some high picks...

    Ok, my deal:

    OEL

    +??

    for

    Eriksson

    Baertschi

    Gaudette

    Juolevi

    Rafferty

We lose two NHL ready D prospects (which Arizona needs).  But we still have Rathbone for the left side and one of Woo or Tryamkin on the right side.  Arizona gets 5 roster players for not very much actual cash.

I want to avoid any high picks.

lol, lets give them all our trash. I'm sure thats enticing......

    From twitter....

My child has had a mask in her backpack every day this year. Not being worn regularly. But she panicked when she didn’t have “inside shoes” packed, because that’s a rule. So there’s a rule about inside shoes, but no rule to wear a mask in the midst of a pandemic. Do better #BCED.

Maybe Emily should be asking her kid why she isn't wearing her mask instead of wondering why someone isn't forcing her to.....

Great time for an election eh?

    Glad you've stigmatized & minimized masks #bcndp?

B.C. has the highest number of active #COVID19 cases per capita, federal data shows 1,803 active cases after weeks of COVID-19 spikes in BC

I was just in BC last weekend. Came from Calgary. The lack of masks out there compared to here is baffling.

it's completely surreal and we, as teachers, didn't even get a "plan" (if that's what you want to call it) until wednesday.  Already it's a sh!tshow trying to enforce cohorts, distancing, no touching masks etc etc etc.

    shameful

My first two days of work were...... disappointing. I work in a school where our admin is taking things seriously and is going above and beyond the provincial requirements. We are sticking with a 2m physical distance, masks worn everywhere but the classroom and outside. So that's good

However, we have classrooms with no windows, no sinks, no sanitizer and no real chance at getting any of those, even sanitizer. Because we are told to prevent students facing each other in the classrooms, desks are arranged in rows, but there is barely a foot between desks and very little room to walk.

There are no plexiglass barriers for teachers (except in the office and library) and though we have an "enhanced cleaner" who comes in at night, that "enhanced cleaner" is shared between 2-3 schools and isn't a professional custodian, but more likely to be a retired bus driver.

We had severe teacher shortages before covid, to the point that we often didn't have enough toc's to cover for sick teachers and, in my district, 60% of the toc's are retired teachers most of whom are not going to work through a pandemic. No one in charge has any answers for what happens when large numbers of teachers (and education assistants) call in sick and there aren't remotely enough toc's to cover. The same issue for when teachers start taking stress leaves en masse, which I believe will happen in a matter of months.

Mostly, I know my favourite stretch of the year in elementary school, from September to December, isn't going to be the same and I'm incredibly sad about that.

Our numbers in the Okanagan are, supposedly, low, but I worry about those kids I care so deeply about. I worry about the virus, but I also worry about the psychological effect that all this will have on them.

I didn't expect to not be disappointed, but I hoped for a more thoughtful plan

Schools, school boards and provincial governments have had since mid March to have a reentry plan. The fact that there has been panic on the return to school and lots of schools/teachers being unprepared is frankly ridiculous.

Can't see it being Gaudette given how thin we are at centre ice.

Stech and Jake are the two young guys that feel like they will likely be casualties of the cap crunch.

Jake was a disappointing for sure but for a guy who is supposed to be an offensive threat, Gaudette really didn't add any of that this playoffs.

    Hi All!

I have been lurking on CDC for the past 12 years and finally decided to make my first post. CDC is where I picked up most of my hockey news and knowledge. I even enjoyed some of the trolls here that made my day lol.

I'm so excited for this team and tonight's game!

    GO CANUCKS GO!!!!

Welcome, not sure you want to come here to pick up any knowledge though :emot-parrot:

I have no problem with beaches being open.  Every beach i have been at, i have seen people social distancing quite well.

Being outdoors is much safer than indoors.  Asking young people to not socialize for 6 months is not going to work.

We have to ask young people to socialize SAFELY and social distance.   YES, warn them and then fine them if they refuse.

Here is a few ideas i have

    Increase covid testing in BC

Mandatory mask in stores and in schools - worksites where safe  social distancing can not happen

Reduce class sizes in Sept so social distancing can occur

Offer familes online learning opportunties - many families have immune compromised people living in the home and need this option

Shut down bars / strip clubs  - maybe bars could have outdoor patios expanded and stay open. Won't work for strip bars - LOL

Increase restaurant outdoor patios limits / sizes - even extend their hours to help them stay open

Termperature testing at work sites / schools

Encouraging non bc tourists to stay in their own province for now

    Calgary

can get a test whenever needed. Been tested twice and got results next day

    mandatory masks inside

school districts giving out two masks per student that must be worn

offering online learning to those who want it

Not bad for a bunch of rednecks eh?

Wow it is really awful to realize some of the people on these boards who you thought were just mildly abrasive but still decent people and fans are actually right wing doichebags who don’t care about human rights. Genuinely astounded.

I was happier not knowing. You would think I accidentally stumbled my way into the Alberta message boards.

Lol, judges some on these boards for being right wing douche bags then goes and stereotypes an entire province. Thumbs up?
