  1. Thanks c2x! I need it as Holland scored his first goal of the season today :)

Not done updates yet so maybe it hinges on something I haven't gotten to yet, but at first glance, I don't see how you can call him up, your roster is full....?

  2. Sorry, c2x, I gotta disagree with you on this one. What would you have Roy do? They're 9-1. If they were losing then I could see the need to criticize but right now he seems to have his guys clicking on all cylinders.

I can understand your frustration when the coach won't play the young guys, remember I have Elliott playing in Lake Erie even further down the depth chart (but at least he's playing), but young players sometimes do need to go through this adversity. Think of it this way, Barrie is learning about being around a young winning team, he will force his way into the lineup by playing at a high level, or he will come to the rescue of the team once they cool off. It's only 10 games in.

Just be glad AV isn't his coach. Roy will play him, just not right now.

Young players need to play to hone their skills. If the Canucks had kept Horvat or Shinkaruk up, played them in 4 games and then sat them, saying at least they're around a winning team, we'd be fuming over how the Canucks were mismanaging them and how their development would be better served getting lots of ice time in junior. Like you said, at least Elliott is playing.

9-1 is all well and good, but does anyone really expect them to sustain this? They still have issues on the blue line that their goaltending has been able to mask so far. But do they really believe that any one of Nate Guenin, Cory Sarich or Andre Benoit is a long term solution? I have no problem with playing the hot hand (especially Benoit, who has been good), but like I said, how is Barrie supposed to shore up his defensive game, which is admittedly a weak point, if he's just watching games from the press box? Barrie was the Avs best defenceman last season and had a decent camp, wasn't on the ice for a goal against in his 4 games this year, and this is how he's rewarded?

  3. have tyson in the other league..thats pretty annoying

some games off is okay..but not permamently

Tyson Barrie has the skill and ability to be a top 4 defenceman right now and be a big asset on the power play.

If Roy is dead set against playing him, then trade him and stop holding the kid back. How's he supposed to shore up his defensive game from the press box?

  4. ASSIGNMENT: The Winnipeg Jets assign Nathan Beaulieu to their minor league club in Revelstoke.

RECALL: The Winnipeg Jets recall Tyson Barrie from their minor league club and place him on their active roster. (on the off chance that Patrick Roy finally pulls his head out of his behind and plays him)

  5. It appears that Moore was claimed, and Butler cleared waivers.

We wish Dominic the best with whoever claimed him, he was a late signing in the summer, but was sadly outperformed, and the salary cap constraints caused the move.

ASSIGN: Phoenix assigns D Chris Butler to Portland.

    (#1 D in minors)

Just as a heads up, both players were claimed, haven't gotten to updates yet today, but will post asap.

  6. Well, that didn't take long...

Brodeur says Schneider 'is in the net now to stay'

New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur told reporters Wednesday that Cory Schneider will likely assume the role as the team's No. 1 for the foreseeable future.

After practice Wednesday, Devils coach Peter DeBoer announced that Schneider, 27, would make his third straight start for the Devils on Thursday against the Vancouver Canucks at Prudential Center.

Brodeur told Rich Chere of The (Newark) Star-Ledger that Schneider "is in the net now to stay."

"I don't see that's going to change any time soon," Brodeur told Chere. "I'll be ready if it does. We have to try and win some games somehow. This is what [DeBoer] feels is the best opportunity to be successful, having him in the net. That's fine. If we win, everybody is happy. Even though I don't play, it's more enjoyable to be around."

Though many around the organization figured this decision would come at some point, it is a bit surprising that it is happening so soon. The Devils have struggled with a 1-5-3 mark through the opening nine games.

Brodeur, 41, who has served as the Devils' No. 1 goalie the past 20 seasons, is 0-2-2 with a 3.40 goals-against average and .865 save percentage. Schneider, who posted his first shutout in a Devils jersey Saturday in a 4-0 win against the New York Rangers, is 1-3-1 with a 2.21 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

"It's never easy," DeBoer said. "We've got two very good goalies at different points in their careers. One is the greatest goalie of all time and the other guy is a legitimate starter in this League. That situation is never easy.

"I think both guys have handled it very professionally so far. It hasn't been an issue."

Schneider, who was acquired in a trade with the Canucks on June 30 at the 2013 NHL Draft, made a career-high 33 appearances with Vancouver in 2011-12, finishing with career bests in victories (20), goals-against average (1.96) and save percentage (.937).

Brodeur holds NHL career goalie records for games played (1,224), victories (669), shutouts (121) and minutes played (72,033).

"Over the last three years, I haven't played as many games," Brodeur said. "It's somewhat of a transition, but definitely it's not fun. You don't play hockey, especially at the age I am, to just sit on the bench and hang out. It was fun [in practice on Wednesday]. I had a blast. But ask me that in two months. I don't know if I'll say the same thing."

  7. TRADE: The Detroit Red Wings have made a trade with the Los Angeles Kings.

    To DET:

    Mark Fraser

    Andreas Athanasiou

OTT 2015 3rd Round Draft Selection

    To LA:

    Alex Stalock

(As this trade was submitted before 9:30am on the 21st, Stalock is not on waivers.)
