  1. 0-12 with scoring position. It's not really surprising they lost. There's just some refusal to play the small ball. Make the hit instead of swinging yard all the time. 0-5 Donny, where'd the MVP bat go?
  2. This is going to be one of those threads that transcends board database transfers. All user data, rep points, everything could die. This thread would live on.
  3. To me that means they should be together. Shinkaruk, Horvat, Virtanen. Speed, Size, Shot. Two options for the shot and defensively responsible up the middle.
  4. Hal Gill was SMART. If Tryamkin has some brains with his size and his already-better speed, he's going to be a very good player going forward.
  5. Good article, thanks. Sounds like he's one of those super-steady defenders who never "shine", but always for the right reasons. If you're never out of position, you never show up out of position. And that he's loyal to the team he's signed to; he's not looking to bolt - he signed a contract, and is honoring it. Bodes well if the same mentality applies should he come over. I think he is the real steal of the draft.
  6. I can imagine the odd-couple pairing in a couple of years, at least in the minors - Our Subban and him. Subban can be the skill, Tryamkin can be the muscle. Could work out.
  7. Tell that to Carolina and / or Edmonton for their finals year. The team with the hotter goalie won that. Or when the Florida Panthers made it to the finals riding a wicked-hot Vanbiesbrouck. A hot goalie at the right time CAN win in the playoffs. Some youthful energy, solid tactics and veteran experience and this team is a lot better than the performance last year.
  8. To all the people poo-pooing this... 1) He hasn't signed snuff yet 2) We have a quickly filling cupboard of prospects 3) We still have a pretty full roster which still went on a really great tear last year - if January was a .500 month instead of what it was, we were a playoff team. 4) Ryan Miller is far from done 5) As much as I'd love McDavid, make the playoffs, any team can win. Miller CAN be a franchise-level goalie, and if he's available for just money, why not take a flyer on him? If he isn't our man, trade him for assets coming back. If he is, and he's motivated to win? Look out.
  9. Depends what management would say/do; If they use the cap space and sign a bunch of the older 'cup seekers' to that one-year deal for 'a bit more than average' money with the promise to trade them to a contender at the deadline *IF* we aren't in serious contention, that might be enough. Mix of youth and energy with the experience and desperation of "not many chances left". Mats Sundin helped this team by being on it for 3 months. Imagine the help of two or three of that kind of mentorship for the younger guys?
  10. We can't even trade Schneider this year for underwhelming return either
  11. I hope not. We've made a few significant changes today. If we end up picking 6, not bad.
  12. Pull the plug on it. If he wants MORE than 6, 24 and last year's 1st, take a hike I'd rather see what other shuffling could happen at this point; what roster players can go where, now that the cap has been decided. I'd love to see a true-blue super prospect, but not at that expense. We'll still get someone really good at 6, probably at 24 as well, and hang onto our poor man's Kane.
  13. I would be okay with that. Keep Shinkaruk, give them this year's 24th. Hansen goes, spot opens.
  14. That makes Florida instantly a playoff team with Luongo in net. A line and a half, with some decent defence. But Tallon knows how to build a team. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually picks with that pick.
  15. We want Ekblad if Garrison is gone. I'd be okay with Shinkaruk, garrison and kesler being traded for Ekblad and Reinhart (somehow). That's about the only way I'd be happy with Shink leaving.
  16. It's not like he's Schroeder sized either. A smart player can navigate the ice, as long as his core strength is good and he plays smart, he'll do very well. We saw he has the speed and hands to actually play at that level. If he could be like a Paul Kariya type player, that's a total steal. And I think he could.
  17. Hopefully he doesn't play for the Taiwan two points are better. No defending the 0-0 tie!
  18. I agree. I'd actually seen a line in my head of Shinkaruk, Horvat and Kassian. Kassian should have it together by the time the other two are ready for primetime NHL action, and ho-ley-crap would that be a scary line if they gel. Power, Speed, Skill, defensive smarts and scoring mentality. Isn't that exactly what we wanted? And a couple of Sedins to keep them calm and show them how to be professionals. I don't like the idea of trading any of our immediate prospects; Shink, Horvat, Kassian, Jensen should all be sticking around. I realize you have to 'give to get' but if what we get isn't worth what we give, then it's no good.
  19. Add Bryz to the mix. Wow. The press would never have to interview anyone else. Just have Lack, Irbe, Bryz and JM in the media room. Everybody else gets a pass. Even Tony the Raisin would be forced to chuckle at something. He wouldn't heff to be mad.
  20. Pat White and pieces gave us Ehrhoff in a trade. If Schroeder could be flipped into Ehrhoff? By all means, sign me up.
  21. Yup, the grapes are sour. Couldn't be happier. Not only am I happy for willie, I'm proven correct (yet again) and AV is not a cup winning coach. Double whammy. Now where's your bud rupert? At least you're still here soaking it up.
  22. Case in point, LA were bringing the game to NYR throughout the overtimes. Defence pinching in (even Willie?!?) puck down deep with lots of pressure from wingers, NYR were playing a tenative "hope for a break" game instead of creating their own.
  23. Sour grapes for Apples? Awwwwww. NYR were out of their depth here. Any other goalie for NYR and this was a nasty sweep. LA had a 48 shot advantage over only 5 games. And that's not counting blocks or misses, that's shots on target. And you're still thinking AV wasn't out of his league.
  24. Shots on goal (not including blocks or missed the net) (which I assume would probably come close to doubling the counts) LAK 194 NYR 146 LA completely outplayed NYR in this series with the exception of one game where they shut them out 3-0 while taking only 15 shots. So no, this wasn't puck luck. LA won this.
  25. I wonder if Willie is gonna sent Gillis another thank you card for not re-signing him due to his "concussion problems". Two cups for willie. Good for him.
