Must it be an ex-Canucks player, though? I think there’s a couple guys within the SN650 side who might fit the bill.

I can't think of one that wouldn't make me want to mute the tv, which would be a travesty because I love shorty.

ultimately he should get the biggest say. he knows what works and the chemistry is most important.

    Happy Game Day!

Both miller and petey will find themselves landing additional spots in the Canucks all time record books if they can get 5 points (or more) each before the end of the season.

for Miller, it will bring him to 300 points as a Canuck, making him the fastest canuck to do so in 283 games (or less).

for Pettersson, he will join JTM and Pavel Bure as the only other players in franchise history to average a point per game or better in the Canuck careers. Pettersson will also tie Daniel Sedin and Markus naslund for the 5th highest scoring season in franchise history.

let’s see if they can do it!

I hate to be that guy, but interestingly, over his first 5 seasons, pavel bure played exactly 283 games. he had 333 points in those games.

    re-edit: fact-checking my fact-checking.

  3. I just want to take a second to point out just how grateful we should all feel for how absolutely blessed we've been with broadcasting, period.

robson, larscheid, hughson, garrett, shorthouse. most markets aren't lucky enough to get even one of these gems, and in our 50+ year history we've effectively never had to know life without some combination of those guys describing our team to us.

    how lucky are we?

I'm (re)watching the game again to see....HOW THE HELL THE REFS MISSED A CALL ON THE GARLAND MUGGING!

Also, for 2 other things: to see Huggy throwing his weight around (all 180 lbs of it)

to see cool as ice Miller bank in an en goal

when it comes to garland, i don't think the refs are so much missing calls as they are choosing not to make them -- which, unfortunately, I get.

Drance lambasted the Canucks again on D&D, saying how they finally lost like they should have been, and how things look dismal and he went on about JT Millers body language and how bad habits have returned, etc.

Geez, that guy is a Negative Nancy. It was one terrible game against a good team.

wasn't he raving during the intermission about how great jt has been?

I liked when he started talking about the canucks dipping into the "bargain bin" to fill out their depth ... without realizing the irony that that is exactly what sportsnet has done, putting his dopey mug on the air.

I guess no one else remembers how the original skate logo was at times ridiculed in the local media for being drawn as plummeting downhill.  Something about how that was symbolic of Canucks history, and maybe a bad omen as well. That interpretation left me hoping that they would redesign it to actually be pointing upward one day.

supporting the team does often feel sisyphian, might as well represent that in the logo.

The only thing I attributed to you is what I put in quotes. The rest are my thoughts on Benning's tenure.

You are indeed correct in that assessment. It seems like your "respect" is quite easily earned. Enjoy the game.

you keep quoting "respect" when what I said was "appreciate".

    whoops.

I supported Benning for as long as I did because I was emotionally invested in seeing this organization succeed. I think a lot of us share that sentiment. Where I disagree with you is when you state that you will "respect" a move as long as "the goal is winning". Imho the only moves that fans should respect are ones that bring success to an organization. There is nothing to respect about the OEL or Eriksson moves. There is nothing to respect about whiffing on a 5th and 6th overall pick in consecutive drafts. Just like there is nothing to respect about trading quality assets to make immediate gains in the short term. Benning was notorious for this, I will support this management until they begin to go the same way as Benning. I will admit that I wasn't a fan of the Hronek trade, it seems from my vantage point that we were desperate to improve the RHD position and we made a move from a position of weakness. I will still wish for the best and hope that he proves me dead wrong, I think that is my responsibility as a fan. But if this turns out wrong and this management consistently makes moves that end up poorly like Benning's did then I will cheer for them to get the boot. Losing moves don't deserve our support and the fact that we tolerated and supported them is the only reason why that management group stuck around to do as much damage as they did.

you shouldn't attribute quotes to, and then form an entire rambling diatribe around, things I didn't actually say.

but our positions are diametrically opposed so it's irrelevant.

It seems like some people don't.

There are those who are happy to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community for a day and then there are those who need to celebrate how enlightened they are and what a great ally they are and nothing is coming between them and that demonstration gosh darn it.

yeah, get used to it. it's the culture of the day. pick your team.
