  1. I'm just making some comments about posts oldnews. If that bothers you don't make posts. I've read the thread and those are my comments about what I've read from you. Some stuff I agree with and some stuff I think you're reaching to trash the guy. Based on what he said in the press conference I think a lot of your criticisms are less than fair. I think you've got your conclusion and that's interfering with how you're processing what's being said. We have a clear example of that in your second post in the thread. Personally I don't know if he's the right coach for this team but I'm trying to not jump to things as quickly as some might be.
  2. And can you think of a good reason why how a player plays doesn't or shouldn't dictate their ice time? What I said from the presser was his explanation of it. As for the last part that's fine I'm just giving you what I'm interpreting. I'm seeing a lot of arguments we used to see about AV being made about torts. Not necessarily the same substance of the arguments just the same tactics.
  3. I think option 2 may be the extreme rockstar 5 hour energy extra cheese dorrito version of what Torts said. :D
  4. I mean, he talked extensively about his failings. He was quite clear that he felt the first half of the year he coached the team properly but that he let the room go and didn't do his job as a coach in a way that benefited the room. He was also very clear about talking about how great the leadership group was. He wasn't trashing them he was trashing the job he did more than anything else. You're reaching pretty hard to make an argument here Oldnews. This is Nucknit territory.
  5. That's not quite what he said in his presser. I mean to some extent all players dictate how much they play but he was very clear that he played players too much based on how much he trusted them over others. I'm not sure how that's different than any coach in the league. He's not passing the buck he's taking the blame. You obviously don't like Torts but you also used to be a staunch AV supporter. I'm sure you had some choice feelings about people stretching their arguments to trash AV. Perhaps? Possibly? You're making a few stretches based on either disliking Torts or disliking that Torts replaced AV? I'm probably reading it totally wrong but I bet Torts is here next season.
  6. I'm not sure which one made the hairs on the back of my neck raise more. The give it to me raw part or that it was followed by "baby".
  7. To be fair they pretty much said the same thing in that 14 minute season preview. Now we just know what the event was they were talking about, If the show previewed it it can't be a spoiler; can it? I'm actually surprised at how much I liked Gleeson this episode. From the start I've thought he was quite over the top. For a character who should chew the scenery he always seemed to have a 4 course meal on the scenery but that seemed to serve him very well in last nights episode. It's the first time with that character where I've thought the part was written for Gleeson.
  8. Good lord it's a miracle.

resurrection is meaningless. Linden back with the Canucks in an official role is fantastic.

I didn't expect it but I am a happy camper. They had better get it done for him, no one deserves their name on the cup more than #16.

  9. This one he got a princely racket That's what I said now Got some Big Seal upon his jacket Ain't in his head now You marry him, your father will condone you How 'bout that now You marry me, your father will disown you He'll eat his hat, now
  10. Noun , last resort (an expedient adopted only in desperation) "`pis aller' is French for `worst going'"
  11. Yeah but if you want to look cool doing it you also have your thumb up. :D
  12. Here's my problem with this though; and the problem comes because I've seen it before. People point finger at someone, that someone gets fired, people jump to point that finger at someone else. I don't know about everybody else or if I'm just some advancement on the evolutionary scale but my fingers all have joints and I can stop pointing. :D Gillis is the GM and it's his job to create a team. He should have some of the blame. That said this team is better than it's played the last 2 years and that was on AV. Almost every star player has been under achieving and they also deserve some of the blame for this teams "woes:. My biggest worry is Ruff gets hired but only because I feel we've fired AV and hired a guy just like AV.I'm not afraid of Torts but only because I don't know wtf will happen with him but I know it will be different. If we win the cup next year I don't think it will be because they fired AV it would be because there was something different. Torts I think brings an extreme to that "different" but I don't know if I'd hire him if I was Gillis.
  13. Stop complaining and switch teams? Peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and jam. Tomato or Tomahto Potato or Potahto
  14. Irony Cheer up. It's cdc not a job my friend. Unless you are mod which (looks left) nope.
  15. wait so you think the media is actually uninformed and are just trying to connect the dots they have? Question: what's the difference between most vancouver sports media and many cdc posters? Answer: A reasonably easy degree and a paycheck.
  16. for your next response can you try not to sound like a sniveling teenage girl who just got dumped.
  17. I can't hear you very well from the corner but you were wrong and it was clearly making you pretty upset. Your posts were getting more and more stupid and seemingly more and more angry and irrational.
  18. I love it when people make a comment and show that they had absolutely no idea what was actually being talked about. Rupert can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about 45 years dedicated to the canucks. Should be common sense given the team hasn't been around for 45 years dontchathink? We're all a bunch of idiot nerds posting on an internet forum about hockey. We all have sad lives to some extent.
  19. There's a point in every argument where one person should be quiet and slink off to the corner. Two posts ago for you...minimum.
  20. I've always felt that coming into threads like this I run the risk of having things spoiled by their nature. My feeling is that if I want to have a discussion about a show or movie I better make sure I've kept up on it otherwise it's my responsibility not to come in here. For me even if I'm not caught up I'm going to click on those stupid spoiler tags anyways. As to your spoiler I can't remember but didn't they come in the 4th book or was it the third? Too early to bring them in right after the red wedding imo. Also they need to change the name of this show to A Game Where Everybody Pays.
