  1. Unlocked thread - nice. Tryamkin is captain of his team this year. He'll get stronger, better, and be ready to be a top pairing defender when he returns to the Canucks. He was already a top 4 defender for us in his rookie year. He's the real deal and despite the haters who are bent on his decision to spend more time in his homeland, he will come back and help us win a cup.
  2. I can’t really blame you. We all have our favourites. If I was a mod, we’d likely have a glorious Jiri Slegr thread pinned.
  3. Deb, I hear you and no argument that Burrows was one of the best Canucks. He was incredible. And I don’t want this thread closed. But I would suggest that having this thread remain pinned and seeing it at the top of Canucks talk every day has made what was once a fun thread into an albatross. Perhaps what this site needs is a Canucks alumni forum, with threads on guys like Burrows, Linden, the Sedins, etc? As for Tryamkin, he is still an exciting, young prospect who could become something great for the Canucks. Where are we supposed to currently talk about him, if not in the prospects forum (where his thread has been locked)?
  4. I'm kind of hoping we can turn this irrelevant Burrows thread into a Tryamkin thread, given I enjoyed reading and contributing to that thread in the prospects subforum and it's now locked while this one is endlessly pinned. What do people think of Tryamkin's return date? Will he play out all three years of that KHL contract? Or will he buy out the last year and return in 2019/20? And did you notice that he has been assigned the captaincy on his team this year?
  5. The Tryamkin thread in prospects has been locked and this thread continues to be pinned. This poor forum is being mismanaged.
  6. Why would we trade one of our top prospects to the Leafs? In two seasons, Tryamkin will be one of our most valuable players. We need defense as much as they do for the foreseeable future, and watching Tryamkin destroy opposition while sporting a Leafs jersey for the next decade would be awful, especially for a pick that may or may not pan out.
  7. That's probably because it is pinned and one of the first things we always see when going onto the Canucks forum page. I don't care that the thread remains open but I'm not a fan at all of it being pinned. That to me is an abuse of admin power. If it is relevant enough, it should stay afloat on its own power.
  8. I like the Canucks picks at the draft, but it’s clear that Tryamkin is needed back more than ever, as we are quickly becoming an even smaller team.
  9. KHL allows buy outs of contracts for 50% of the contract deal. I'd love to see the Canucks show how much he's valued by buying out his contract and offering him a chance to play next season. We need quality defencemen right now, and there is no substitute for his size, speed and skill. Do it JB!!
  10. Waiting another two years before Tryamkin may re-join the Canucks sounds so painfully long. We could really use this guy this coming year. The organization has never had someone of his size and skill set combo.
  11. "Sedin Talk" section. "Burrows? Do we really need him?" pinned. Signing onto the CDC these days is like walking up to an old, broken-down home in June and seeing the Christmas lights still hanging off the gutters.
  12. All the legitimate interviews that I've seen so far suggest Tryamkin is seriously contemplating a return to the Canucks once his contract is up. I think the fact he isn't wanting to engage with media about it right now when his mind isn't entirely made up is totally acceptable. He still has two years on his contract. My sense is though that he'll be ready for a return when it's up.
  13. I fully agree. Not only is this thread an embarrassment the makes Canucks fans look like we're stuck in the past, but it conflicts with this board's own rules, given Burrows played for another team for the past year before retiring. Yet the mods turn a blind eye like it was a Sharks vs. Canucks playoff game. For the first half year beyond Burrows' Canuck departure it was tolerable, but it stays pinned, bumping out legitimate and relevant topics from the first page. Not dissing Burrows, he was great. But this thread now sits atop the page like a mod's own personal abuse of power, slowly tarnishing the original beauty that this thread contained. I mean, the Sedins meant just as much to this organization, they *just* retired as Canucks and there are currently no first page threads on them. It's time to move forward and get excited about the current roster.
  14. We are going to be such a better team when Tryamkin rejoins the club. I still think he's our most valuable defenseman that we have. I hear people question his loyalty, but I think he actually has incredible loyalty. He commits to the team that he is under contract with, and he is playing for the same team that he has played on for years. Once he realizes his future is in a Canucks uniform, this giant will help bring us the cup.
  15. Not until trolls from all the other teams come onto this site and make fun of us for being seemingly locked in time, pinning a thread about a player who has moved on with his career like we’re crazed Burrows stalkers.
  16. I just find it so hard to believe this guy got 36 goals one year. And for three years in a row he got 40+ assists. Did he get body checked by father time right before coming to Vancouver or what?
  17. Tryamkin sent home after training with his Olympic team. That must piss him off. Hopefully his hatred for Russia's selection process gives him a new appreciation for the NHL. http://fhr.ru/en/main/ofnews/card/?id_4=14503 Defenseman Nikita Tryamkin and forward Maxim Shalunov, who both trained with the team in South Korea as reserve players, have now left the group and gone home. The Russian Ice Hockey Federation thanks them for helping the team in the training process, wishes them luck and will be counting on them for future tournaments! Russian Ice Hockey Federation
  18. Well, if this thread is going to remain here, might as well discuss: is 10 games the right amount to be suspended? Pretty steep to me, considering he had one suspension. It feels like his reputation played into it.
  19. Tryamkin interview from Feb 3rd... "I never regretted that I came back from Vancouver. Now I am satisfied with my playing time and the confidence of the coach to be captain. My relatives support me at home, my wife is always there." https://translate.google.ca/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=https://www.sport-express.ru/olympics/pyeongchang2018/hockey/reviews/nikita-tryamkin-ni-razu-ne-pozhalel-chto-vernulsya-iz-vankuvera-1367055/&prev=search I hope he starts changing his mind about all of that. He has so much potential, size and skill.
  20. Is this thread only pinned now to get it to 500 pages? If so, it feels like when Henrik Sedin was keeping his consecutive games played streak going by playing one shift games while injured. Burrows has been gone a long time now. We have exciting new players to focus on. Time to unpin this thing and let it die. Even Burrows would agree.
  21. Burrows used to be so good, but he seems almost invisible out there these days for the Canucks.
  22. A big theme the past few pages of this thread is the discussion of whether it should still be in the Canucks forum. I'm a big Burrows fans, but totally get where people are coming from in questioning the continued validity of this thread. Personally, I'm fine with this thread not being closed. But I really don't see the value in keeping it pinned. It's one of the first threads people see when they come to the Canucks forum, and I think it makes us look pretty sad, holding onto the past. We have an exciting new team with great new players on it. Let's focus on the present and future. I'd suggest that if enough people care to keep this thread going, it should be allowed to happen without it being pinned and staring us in the face every time fans or even trolls come onto our site. I'd suggest that even Burrows would agree; he wouldn't want us to continue focusing so much attention on him, he'd want us to show more respect to the current roster and keep our attention towards this year's team. Time to unpin this legendary thread to make room for more current topics.
  23. I think Iginla lost that status after he became a full fledged trolloping team tramp. Four teams removed and now he might as well be playing for Las Vegas.

  25. Arr, ahoy mateys. Where be th' game day thread fer th' Canucks first preseason game happenin' tomorrow? I be excited t' watch th' canucks again. Be Burrows in th' line-up?
