Well I saw the news. Meh. I am not overly surprised. Too much liability these days. Forums probably should be fan run, not team run. It's the end of an era though. Cya all wherever.

No. Banning fighting to me means a more severe punishment than a game misconduct. For instance, in Golf, if Tiger Woods went and punched someone in the face and two players had a fight, they would probably suffer more than just a game suspension, they would be fined heavily and maybe kicked off the tour for a few months.

It won't be long until fighting is banned in the NHL. I personally don't think it should be, but, the NHL has a responsibility to the players and their safety.
Instead of banning fighting, what I would I would like to see is:
1) Any 5 minute major for a fight automatically results in a game misconduct.
2) Any 5 minute major for a fight in the last 5 minutes of a game results in a 1 game suspension.
