  1. I like the pairings but neither Higgins or Burrows are good second liners as you suggest so keep them on the third.

Edler still has to prove he can play defence responsibly. I'm not sure Corrado has it in him or is the answer as you suggest. I think they've been paired several times before and the result has been horrible just like every other player Edler has played with in the past 3 years.

Also, Hansen has appeared to be a great guy to pencil in on the fourth line when our depth pushes him there but he never ends up these and he makes $2.5m/y so we'll wait and see on that one.

  2. Your number crunching skills are a little off.

Past the 3rd round = 4 teams out of 30 make it to the final 4, or 13% chance of making it past 2 rounds. Edit:Even if you consider that only 16 teams make the playoff, which shouldn't matter, that's still 25%. A lesser number than 27%.

5 out of 18 (100) point scorers made it to round 3 = or 27% chance of making it past 2 rounds.

I'll take the extra 14% chance on our side.

  3. This is simple economics. It's called inflation. In a sense the league doesn't want to make too much money and have the cap rise that much because the market is inflated a bit right now. With the trouble our economy is in a holding pattern is probably the best way to go as a salary cap increase would see larger contracts that would not be good business once the cap comes back down. Keeping the markets small limits the competition and the overall risk as the NHL attempts to solidy itself for the future.

  4. If they offer over 5 ... something or other (not sure of exact total related to Kesler's age I believe) it's huge picks coming Canucks way.

If a lower standing team were to offer I think the Canucks would be waiting to accept that as much as they would hate to lose the Kes.
