You can like the idea of a return with retention at the deadline but if the Canucks have a chance to move off his remaining year at a cheap cost as the sharks might wanna acquire him strictly for assets at the trade deadline I think you do it, with 13 million freed up Canucks could make other trades work and improve this roster from being a bubble team to a top 10 team….. our fan base will hate the idea you watch

Most importantly he comes in at a cheaper cap hit for 3 seasons. 
 

Probably have to offer Preds a good hockey trade as they have options if the offer doesn’t suffice.
 

Hence why I would probably offer Garland or Boeser straight up. The cap savings alone are an asset that we can use to further address the defence having already saved cap from this deal.  I
