They could do a retention 50% and have another team do a retention 25% like leafs did for ROR

so a team could get him for basically 25%

    He’ll end up a ranger

Chicago is building another dynasty. Shockingly they are doing through the draft not overpaid  30+ year old ufas weird.

i hate them but can’t help but feel jealous that they actually know how and are willing to build a successful long term team.

You mean like Canucks did with petey Hughes virtanen juolevi Podkolzin…. Have to hit on the pieces for those draft picks to mean anything… they also traded away dach already, this rebuild for them has already hit year 4 if you look past the bubble which many sugguest on here don’t count, Daniel and henrik wanted to stay that cost us a few firsts, burrows Hansen bieksa and kesler got us small returns on prospects and picks that did not pan out… tho Linus karlsson still undetermined factor from all that none the less super underwhelming on hindsight, people seem to forget how hard it is to not only draft the right players but have them developed properly as well

That 1st is going to be outside the top 16 the way the Isles are playing. Still a good trade. I've watched Raty in Abby a few times now, some real good parts to his game. He sees the ice really well but he hangs onto the puck for too long (young guys do this as they progress levels) its easy to coach out of their game. AB has been a nice addition.

They have been very mid and now Barzal with a rumoured to be season ending injury, I have a hard time seeing them making playoffs with barzal tbh, even last night sorokin stood on his head to steal that game, my guess is we will get 14oa

When questioned or challenged you default to homophobia? Grow up.

How did you get homophobia out of that? Now you are using slander in your inadmissible point… I have no time for people who stoop down to a fragile topic for beneficial purposes also question others morals and mannerism to attempt self profit and validation to their argument, clearly you have some issues and I will no longer engage with such a shallow minded individual… take care

I have no idea where some people's fascination with blaming some media pundit for all the bad in the world comes from. If anything, Drance has been shockingly optimistic recently. He was one of the few people who wouldn't back down, even in December, that this team would likely be finishing in the mid/high 80s point wise by the end of season.

Further more, the "business expectation" you refer to isn't Drances plan in the slightest. He doesn't think we should tear it down. He's been open about his idea of how to turn this franchise around, he says it at nauseum. It's "just stop digging". He doesn't want the team to make bold moves to change the franchise drastically, he just wants the team to sit back and slow roll things for a bit.

If a post is a regurgitation point for point something a pundit said, I would have time for that argument. But I have never heard Drance express any of these ideas before.

Drance has contradicted his points over and over again, also he will just bash on players then interview them later that day playing all buddy buddy in the dressing room… he’s toxic AF and anybody that fails to see that is also enabling and encouraging that behaviour from our media members.

Example faber is a great media guy, he criticizes when criticism is needed and optimistic when it’s due, drance will double down when he’s wrong rather than admit it which shows me he’s a condescending person…

I mean torts recent comments kinda says it all, a lot of our media is a bunch of goofs

Personally I don’t think there’s much to it and it seems like media just stirring the pot but I’m open to discussing it if a legitimate rumor of a deal happening comes along.

I just think the commentary from fans is out of control. It seems like 80% of our fan base hates JT and can’t get over the fact that he got an extension, despite the fact that he had one of the best seasons in team history last year and was a total fan favorite. I know this year has been a struggle but it has also been for most of the team.

On top of it you have the fans wanting to retain money on him in a trade or send him as a cap dump. I just think our fans are kind of dumb sometimes, if I’m being totally honest.

Especially as he’s been one of the better defensive players since tocchets arrival, all the haters kept bringing up how he’s a defensive liability but In Reality it looks like he just quit playing for Bruce and looks rejuvenated under a coach that stresses structure

"I watched a couple months of one AHL team with homer glasses on, I know better than anyone else" is essentially what you said lmao

You’re the one being righteous here…..dismissing someone who physically has experienced play over a bunch of guys staring at stat sheets and listening to the real homer drance who thinks math solves hockey problems

Quite possible. Actually hope that SJS cannot move EK as it will keep them more competitive and save our tank.

I’m feeling pretty confident we will stick between 3-6 I’m not to worried about little stuff like that, sometimes a trade of a bunch of roster players coming back sparks a team as well, for instance Bouchard puljujarvi yamamoto and McLeod is what the price will cost for a dman on pace for well over 100 points

Karlsson to the Oilers would make them a very serious contender. I want the Oilers to go past the Av's this year. Wait a minute Byram is back playing. I have to think on that one.

Meh… they still have serious issues on there back end and in net, karlsson creates another gapping hole defensively

Hasn't his D game been ok ? Plus his puck moving.

Puck moving is great his own zone has always been an issue his whole career, he gets caught taking lots of risks and the older he gets the slower recovering his position has become… I personally feel he gives up more defensively that he provides offensively

He's having a career year at 32 years old. If the average of the past few years is any indication, there is a good chance he regresses back to being a 3-4 dman next year making 11.5 mil. The last couple of seasons he was looking to be a buyout candidate.

I think he’s the type of player that needs puck on stick and with burns sharing that workload on pp1 it didn’t bode well with him but that also makes me wonder how it will go with mcdavid and draistle needing their puck time

I was thinking more about the club helping Schenn out by not trading him so he can be home while his wife has the new baby.

Yes I’ve been preaching this for a couple weeks now! Sometimes the right buisness move is to show loyalty, if the value of the trade is not a home run electing to keep schenn shows a lot to the rest of the players we hope to keep around long term… everyone that was crying about Bruce being fired dropped their morals the second a mid draft pick is dangled…. It’s called the drance affect the guy only sees numbers no person skills, yet so much of our fan base is brain washed by the dummy I don’t get it
