Trade Johnson and Lind. For a proven second baseman. Move Bonifacio down the depth chart bench role. Bring up Romero.
How is Romero doing anyways? He doesn't have to be on fire to break the Blue Jays starting rotation IMO.

I'm not feeling good about this. Another loss.
They are starting to hit the long ball but too many solo homers. Gotta get on base boys! But a bigger concern to me is the pitching. I think the bats will come around enough to win games but the bullpen has me worried.
-
I'm liking his game now. Just in time for the playoffs. Not perfect but miles ahead of when he got here.
Big shot, playing aggressive, sexxy beard, he's got it all.

And now they're 6-8. They have yet to get on a real roll. But I suspect (hope) that is coming.
It was good to see Lawrie back. The guy's arm strength is remarkable. The speed of his throws to first base - wow!
Too bad they came up just short but great to see Lawrie back in the lineup. He looks ready. Once he shakes the rust off the bat I'm thinking he's gonna be a beast. Im hoping anyways.

Dang, I thought they would pull this one out today. Obviously they need to get those bats going.

Baseball isn't as much as a team sport dynamic as say hockey is. How good or bad a batter is hitting has nothing to do with the rest of the team. No one helps him in that situation. He's either hitting or he isn't. And same goes for pitching. No one should use the excuse that they need to gel due to the heavy offseason moves.
That's partially true. Baseball is the most individualized team sport of the 4 North American majors. Good team chemistry doesn't mean a team will succeed. But bad chemistry, mostly off the field and in the locker room, can hurt a team's on field performance. Especially in MLB since the season is so long with so many games and these guys have to see each other all time.
But I don't think the gel excuse is valid either.

It doesn't look good

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos estimated Friday that Jose Reyes (ankle) could miss anywhere from 1-3 months.
Advice: We'll have a better idea on Reyes' status following an MRI on Saturday, but Anthopoulos considers a one-month absence the best-case scenario. It's a crushing blow for the Blue Jays and for fantasy owners who invested a high draft pick on the dynamic shortstop. Emilio Bonifacio probably has the edge to start over Maicer Izturis at shortstop, but Anthopoulous indicated that he has already had discussions with other general managers about possible trades.

That ankle turned 180 degrees. If it's bad, I don't know if Lawrie can fill into that leadoff position.
It looked real ugly. Pro's usually don't cry on the field unless it really hurts. Let's hope he's not gone long term.
Lawrie can lead off but he's not putting up Reyes numbers. Especially not his AVG.

Tried watching a game. Don't understand how this is fun to watch. would rather watch golf
That's a bad haiku. It's 5-7-5. Not 5-10-5.
-
Bad start but it's still early. I'm not ready to jump off the bandwagon just yet. I'm still wearing my Lawrie jersey (I'm just wearing a hoodie over it for now)

The bats are coming around but they need to string some wins together. Hope Bautista is not out for long.
-
Good to see them get win #1. And good to see them put some runs on the board. Lets hope the bats stay hot.

What was the point of spring training? Arencibia had a couple of months (minus the WBC) to warm up to Dickey's knuckler. And what was the point of getting Blanco if not for catching Dickey?
I think they wanted to see JP catch Dickey. I'm sure the Jays want it to work as JP is their best all around catcher. But I have to agree. Maybe give JP one more shot, if he stinks again then sit him with Dickey's on the bump from then on.
-
Arancebia needs to get his crap together. I understand he has never caught for a knuckler before, but come on.
Growing pains. Be patient. He'll get it together...... I hope.

Romero's downfall last year was incredible but I thought he would bounce back. Maybe not to the all-star level he was once at but at least to a decent starter. But man, A ball?? I think the problem is all between his ears. You shouldn't fall that hard that quickly.

I love the Blue Jays promo on Sportsnet. I thought Jose Reyes was saying "It's coke". Apparently he's saying "Lets go"

Me n' Manny..2 good lookin' brown dudes..
Good shot, too bad its so blurry.
-
I know it still means nothing but nice to see 17 runs on the board for the Jays yesterday.
Now let's stop these meaningless games and get the season started already.
-
Yes Romero took strides backwards last year. Not at all what I was expecting. Really hope he can turn it around and have a good season.
Strides? LEAPS. Let's just say he can't be any worse.
*crosses fingers*

Are you being serious? If not..."what ain't no country I've ever heard of."
And go Jays!! I'm cautiously optimistic going into this season. We obviously have a lot more talent this year. I'm just hoping we can stay healthy. Injuries killed us last year. Not (at all) sold on Gibbons either. Excited though...first time in a while we should, at least, be in the playoff race.
Say what one more time!
Agree with the injuries. Morrow was a huge hole that couldn't be filled. Bautista's was near the end but we need him healthy all year. I even hate to say it, but I'm hoping Lawrie isn't going to be injury plagued . Already has a few this early in his career.
But the big shocker was Romero. I couldn't believe how far he fell last year. Let's hope he finds his game again. If Dickey can even come close to the same numbers he put up last year, he will be the ace the Jays have been looking for.

Watching WBC today....How good would Canadian Justin Morneau look in a Jays uni? Put him in the 5 spot instead of Lind. Think Minnesota would deal him?
Reyes
Cabrera
Bautista
Encarnacion
Morneau
Lawrie
Arencibia
Rasmus
Izturis
Thats a championship quality lineup, if I ever saw one.
I'm not sold on Lind either. He show's signs of putting it all together but seems like he can't make it last. Too inconsistent.
I'd love Morneau. He's never been the same since that serious concussion but if he can get to 75-85% of his MVP days, he would be awesome for the Jays.
