  1. And now they're 6-8. They have yet to get on a real roll. But I suspect (hope) that is coming.

It was good to see Lawrie back. The guy's arm strength is remarkable. The speed of his throws to first base - wow!

Too bad they came up just short but great to see Lawrie back in the lineup. He looks ready. Once he shakes the rust off the bat I'm thinking he's gonna be a beast. Im hoping anyways.

  2. Baseball isn't as much as a team sport dynamic as say hockey is. How good or bad a batter is hitting has nothing to do with the rest of the team. No one helps him in that situation. He's either hitting or he isn't. And same goes for pitching. No one should use the excuse that they need to gel due to the heavy offseason moves.

That's partially true. Baseball is the most individualized team sport of the 4 North American majors. Good team chemistry doesn't mean a team will succeed. But bad chemistry, mostly off the field and in the locker room, can hurt a team's on field performance. Especially in MLB since the season is so long with so many games and these guys have to see each other all time.

But I don't think the gel excuse is valid either.

  3. It doesn't look good

    Sat, Apr 13

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos estimated Friday that Jose Reyes (ankle) could miss anywhere from 1-3 months.

Advice: We'll have a better idea on Reyes' status following an MRI on Saturday, but Anthopoulos considers a one-month absence the best-case scenario. It's a crushing blow for the Blue Jays and for fantasy owners who invested a high draft pick on the dynamic shortstop. Emilio Bonifacio probably has the edge to start over Maicer Izturis at shortstop, but Anthopoulous indicated that he has already had discussions with other general managers about possible trades.

  4. What was the point of spring training? Arencibia had a couple of months (minus the WBC) to warm up to Dickey's knuckler. And what was the point of getting Blanco if not for catching Dickey?

I think they wanted to see JP catch Dickey. I'm sure the Jays want it to work as JP is their best all around catcher. But I have to agree. Maybe give JP one more shot, if he stinks again then sit him with Dickey's on the bump from then on.

  5. Are you being serious? If not..."what ain't no country I've ever heard of."

And go Jays!! I'm cautiously optimistic going into this season. We obviously have a lot more talent this year. I'm just hoping we can stay healthy. Injuries killed us last year. Not (at all) sold on Gibbons either. Excited though...first time in a while we should, at least, be in the playoff race.

Say what one more time! ;)

Agree with the injuries. Morrow was a huge hole that couldn't be filled. Bautista's was near the end but we need him healthy all year. I even hate to say it, but I'm hoping Lawrie isn't going to be injury plagued . Already has a few this early in his career.

But the big shocker was Romero. I couldn't believe how far he fell last year. Let's hope he finds his game again. If Dickey can even come close to the same numbers he put up last year, he will be the ace the Jays have been looking for.

  6. Watching WBC today....How good would Canadian Justin Morneau look in a Jays uni? Put him in the 5 spot instead of Lind. Think Minnesota would deal him?

    Reyes

    Cabrera

    Bautista

    Encarnacion

    Morneau

    Lawrie

    Arencibia

    Rasmus

    Izturis

Thats a championship quality lineup, if I ever saw one.

I'm not sold on Lind either. He show's signs of putting it all together but seems like he can't make it last. Too inconsistent.

I'd love Morneau. He's never been the same since that serious concussion but if he can get to 75-85% of his MVP days, he would be awesome for the Jays.
