  1. I mentioned something to that effect in the Gillis Hot Seat thread, but didn't feel like derailing this one in that direction. Gillis has a lot to answer for the current state of this franchise.

KB should keep his mouth shut whether he thinks he is right or not. He is just a chess piece on this team. Let Gillis hire the coach and if Bieksa doesn't like it he can waive his no trade clause.

Exactly. KB's poor play of late and the Canucks last 2 1st round exits (with only win btw) gives Kevin the right to stay quiet instead of trying to tell the Canucks brass what they should do next. It gives the impression that Kevin is trying to keep the ol' boys club status quo. The last 2 seasons don't lie. The team needs a shake up.

  2. Again I kind of disagree. Bieksa is one of these players on this team full of meatheads who is actually eloquent and speaks with a degree of honesty. In between-period interviews he very regularly recognizes the problems and even shows some passion in his reaction. You can tell Bieksa hates losing, and he wears that on his sleeve.

Only in this market would these quotes be analyzed so deeply because Bieksa really isn't to blame for a whole lot. He is a heart and soul player, not one who is looked to to carry the team.

The so-called top 6 on the other hand...

Speaking eloquent doesnt win Stanley Cups.

  3. Bieksa is the first "core" player I would move .. vastly over-rated unless Hammy or someone carries his mail .. and when all else fails, perhaps a "drill" type approach can help shake the malaise .. move Bieksa to Ottawa for Gryba and a second ..

I agree. If gillis is serious about making the Canucks a winning team again and hit the reset button, he should start by getting rid of the leader of the ol' boys club in Bieksa. That would send a clear message to the players that failing is no longer accepted and that no one player is bigger than the team.

  4. 63K already raised.....

And they've added some 'perks' :bigblush:

Update: This is an exciting one. We have just updated the Crackstarter to include some new perks, depending on how generous you're feeling. They are:

For $75: A Public Thank You. We'll publicly thank you from the Gawker Twitter account, unless you'd like to remain anonymous. All your friends will know how cool you are!

For $150: Signed Canadian Flag. Every $150 donor gets a Canadian flag defiled by Gawker owner Nick Denton's signature. Own a piece of history. (Only available if the video purchase is consummated.)

For $200: Commemorative Print. If you donate $100 or more, you'll receive a limited-edition hand-drawn digital painting of Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine by Gawker art director Jim Cooke. (Only available if the video purchase is consummated.)

For $1,000: Dinner with the Gawker Staff. Donors of $1,000 or more will be invited to a dinner with the staff of Gawker at Public restaurant in New York City, date and time to be determined. (You'll have to get yourself to New York; only available if the video purchase is consummated.)

For $10,000: The Rob Ford Crack iPhone. Donate $10,000 and we'll give you the actual iPhone that was used to record the video. This perk is, of course, contingent on the deal actually happening as we hope. There's a chance that the owners will deliver the video but not the phone. There's only one, so first to donate $10,000 gets it.
