  1. But wouldn’t it be great to have a Dahlin and Power duo on D? I know there are no D in this draft expected to be of their calibre, but some higher picks would be great.
  2. Now, we can only pick 1, 2, 11,12 or 13. Obviously first and second are slim odds (~3%) and picking 11th is highly probably. We miss the best forwards and perhaps Reinbacher as well.
  3. I don’t disagree with the approach you state and feel it flows from the top seeking playoff revenue and the ‘get in the playoffs and anything can happen approach’. But JB traded picks like skittles and didn’t build up our prospect pool. Too may firsts and seconds traded. I want a consistently competitive team more than the playoffs; short term gain is a losing strategy.
  4. We certainly didn’t see emotion from the Sedins but they were valuable. We don’t need drama from a captain, just leadership.
  5. Just to keep things clear, Horvat’s 70 points was on his current contract which is not 8.5 million and JT isn’t getting 8 million yet either. Do I think Horvat will be worth 8.5 next year? No.
  6. Big difference between Bo and Petey. Bo is an above average player while Petey is a superstar. Petey can make anyone look good (like the new Bo) or make any opponent look bad.
  7. Hmm, I think JB locked in and traded for some more locked in contracts, so yes, epic fail by JB to trade away so many picks, deplete our prospect pool and get us aging slow players in return. Current management has their hands tied but I do have some faith in them.
  8. Management could have delivered better wingers for him and less rotating of them. Epic fail by Benning. Hockey is a team sport, otherwise McDavid would have won 6 cups by now for the Oilers.
  9. Likely picking at 10th or 11th although on my 4th spin in Tankathon this morning we got Bedard. We’ll get a good player and possibly Reinbacher or Pellika. Just hope the suits don’t trade this pick. Our prospect pool still needs work and, especially, ELCs in a few years.
  10. Many folks here went ballistic when Horvat said the crowds in NY are better than Vancouver (which I’m sure is true). Now you want to bring in Tryamkin who said Vancouver is full of stoners (which is also true and from his media interview back home), and whose wife hated it here, lol. Not gonna happen.
  11. Tanev’s ship has sailed. Often injured and getting on in age. Hirose may be our 3rd LD if we can dump OEL, then see if he can play higher. He’s been a real gift. If we can snag an RHD to play with Hughes who is big and stay-at-home and dump Myers and OEL we are looking pretty good.
  12. We made the right decision to let Markstrom go and keep Demko. Just would have been nice to get a pick for Markie.
  13. I think the jilted ex syndrome applies more aptly to the gross over reaction here on cdc. Posters saying it proves he was the cancer in the room, etc. are just being absurd.
  14. From Canucks Army: Bo was a loyal soldier for nearly a decade and captained this team through some of the worst iced lineups in franchise history. Is it Bo’s fault that the GMs above him floundered for eight years, struggling to ice a contender? Is it Bo’s fault that an incompetent GM’s near-decade-long failure to ice a watchable product turned Rogers Arena into an overpriced ghost town? No. Getting mad at Bo for showing some personality is an absolute loser mentality. Let Bo crack jokes at his old team’s expense! It’s great WWE heel content and great commentary on the previous regime’s utter failure to accomplish anything with him as their leader.
  15. Fans have been firing back since he listed his house for sale. What’s the big deal that fans are more lively there?
  16. What’s the big deal with Bo’s comments? First, so many folks here are crapping on him that he could have been a lot harsher. Second, I’ve lived on Long Island and I live in BC; I have no trouble believing New Yorkers are more lively than folks in Lotusland and the suits that can afford tickets.
  17. I didn't say he’s struggling; that was me quoting another poster and responding to why there’s so much Bo trash talk.
  18. ‘Idk why so many fans are happy to see him struggle anyhow? He was respectable here and around the league, never got himself into any kind of trouble. Elevated his game from his first season by working his a$$ off to be a much better skater, dedicated himself to improving in the faceoff circle and became one of the best C’s in the league in terms of faceoffs.’ Sounds like confirmation bias. Folks here search for examples that confirm their beliefs and selectively look for examples that he’s a bust and we are lucky to be rid of him. Bo seems like a solid individual and a very good hockey player. Is he worth 8.5 million? Probably not given nhl comparables, but he probably would have signed here for less if management didn’t shift their focus to Miller. Doing well in a contract year is not unique to Bo but is used here to denigrate him. I wanted to keep Bo and trade Miller, but I was wrong and I think we got some good assets in return and saved cap space.
  19. I don’t think we give Brock away for free. We should be able to get a second round pick if we retain a bit. At present, I don’t think we have a second pick this year or next, and despite the recent freebie ncaa prospects, we still need a better pool of prospects.
  20. Be nice to have some huge, clear-the-crease type D. I’d love a younger Chara.
