  1. I think this is a matter of semantics and what “agreeing” means, kind of like Clinton talking about what “sex” means. There’s a difference between not liking a contract that he gave out and not agreeing to it. Signing it is legally agreeing to honour the terms, even if it’s with reluctance.
  2. Looks like 8.5x8 so a total of 68 million. Lines at practice had him as the #1 center.
  3. Must be rough because he only makes 10 million a year (cap hit of 9.5 million). I’d be loyal for that kind of salary as well.
  4. Unlike some here, I don’t think Bo is a selfish person for wanting to provide for his family as best as he can and for listening to his agent who negotiates on his behalf. I also think that “hating” him is absurd. He seems to be a steady, hard-working, person of good character. I also don’t care if he signs with the Isles or anywhere else. Management took him for granted and prioritized Miller and that’s their prerogative. The only thing I care about regarding this trade is which pick we get and which year we get it. While I wish Bo well, I want us to pick 13-15 this year and don’t want the Isles improving so much with Bo that we get a later pick. All of this character assassination of Bo is silly and sour grapes. Like all of our players, he’s not perfect. I’m cautiously happy with our return and look forward to more trades for picks and prospects.
  5. I lived in a duplex right on the ocean with a roommate in Long Beach. Late night train rides to the city that never sleeps were epic. Further out on Long Island is where the real money is with huge estates and beautiful small towns. Much of it is urban sprawl as you say.
  6. I lived on Long Island and one of the greatest cities in the world is just a train ride or a limo ride away. As a starving student, I couldn’t afford to take advantage of all that NYC offered, but if I was making 7.5 million a year….
  7. ^ this. Its absurd to believe that management didn't know what each potential suitor was offering for Bo. They chose Miller over Bo, not what I would have done, but there it is. Miller isn't being traded, so let’s all move on and see what they do to make our team younger, faster, tougher, better prospect pool, more cap space and better defensively. I’ll wait till September to see what they can achieve.
  8. Many of us agree that we should have traded Miller and kept Bo but that ship has sailed. We are not trading Miller. Getting Raty is a good move, AB is possibly a good move, but I am pleasantly surprised we got a first round pick after hearing management talk about 25-26 yo reclamation projects rather than picks. Its particularly great to get a pick around 12-15 rather than 25-32 as I expected. In terms of all the disappointment about our D being unchanged, management know how terrible the D is and I’m willing to give them until the beginning of next season to see what they can do in terms of the trade deadline, free agency and the draft. I would be shocked and disappointed if we have the same D in the Fall. I expect 3 more trades: Boeser, Schenn and Garland (maybe Myers after his bonus is paid), and one buyout (OEL?). I’m happy to have us suck this year but won’t be pencilling Bedard into our lineup for 2023-2024.
  9. Not looking for picks in this draft if fckng stupid and short-sighted.
  10. The most painful years from buying out OEL are 2025-2027 where we have a 4.7 million cap hit for him not being here. If the cap rises significantly, it would be worth it.
  11. https://eprinkside.com/2023/01/22/beneath-contempt this sums up pretty well how people are treated in this organization. Its not about firing a coach who isn’t winning, its about the process, the dead man walking, the disrespect and the lack of class. #neednewowner
  12. And since Kuz chose us we’ve been more of a sh*t storm than ever.
  13. Didn't Torts have the same hard as* approach as Tocchet and that failed? We have had 3 Jack Adams award winners as coaches and still not won a cup. Having a competitive approach and more structure is great, but the roster needs rebuilding. Eternal retooling and drama is exhausting and embarrassing. Another coach change bump gets us from a top 7 pick to a top 12 or 15 pick, bfd. The mushy middle here seems eternal: not good enough to compete (get in the playoffs and anything can happen crap) and not bad enough to bottom out and get top 3 pucks. Not buying any tickets soon.
  14. Alfie, you guaranteed he would resign here; are you now down to hope? I would have preferred a Miller trade than a Bo trade, but now that management decided to go with Miller, Bo is our best bet to get a rhd and build up our prospect pool. Management fu*ked up, but we now need to trade Bo for as much as we can get. I just hope its not all reclamation projects aged 25 or 26. We need another first round pick this year.
  15. For me, the issue wasn't not retaining those players, it was losing them (and Tofolli) for free. That’s inexcusable.
  16. No, we will be retooling for the next 35 years, because a rebuild takes too long
  17. Their prospect pool isn't great and their first round pick will be low. Other possible destinations for Bo are more attractive. Plus, I hate the Bruins. Rooting for Carolina, Detroit, NJ or Seattle.
  18. Bo has been getting a lot of shade here for rejecting an offer that JR acknowledges is below his current performance, calling him greedy and saying he should take a hometown discount. Jannick Hansen’s comments are interesting in that regard: Q: You took less in arbitration to help the team stay intact. Would that happen today? A: We knew we were good and had something great and I wanted to stay and be a part of it and I know other players felt that way. It’s different now. Kids don’t get stuck in the minors for two or three years. They come out of the ELC (entry level contract), put up the numbers and you’re forced to pay them without really knowing what you’re getting. That sets everybody up for pushing the market every year. The young guys are the best now. I know 15 years ago there was never a player coming into our room as the best player.
