Minnesota Wild Season Preview
After a very disappointing first round sweep in Minnesota following a conference final appearance, GM OTTS was unable to get much done this off-season other than have a horrible draft performance. Regardless, Minnesota finished with 117 points last season and should be competing for another division title this season.
Minnesota is hoping to see a boost from upgrading the backup goalie position in bringing in Cristobal Huet late in the offseason, Josh Harding struggled in net last season behind Niklas Backstrom posting a sub .88sv%. We are hoping Cristobal can bring that closer to .9sv% and chip in a few extra wins.
After having a very strong SHL playoffs, putting up 18 points in 13 games, it seems like Minnesota will be taking a chance and be starting off with young center Lars Eller on the 2nd line, for lack of many other options. That could change if Lars Eller struggles out of the gate, we are optimistic that he can contribute to the lineup as his defensive game we believe to be NHL ready so we will experiment with that early in the season.
