Pretty funny how all the edler haters on here will think he is the second coming of nik lidstrom if he ever gets traded to the wings. You guys need to calm down and understand that edler has a tonne of value on the market and is on a very good contract. Just wait and see what guys will be signing for the next year or two. Edler for anything less then mantha/nyquist/smith is a no go.

No way is MG asking for Franzen so stop calling out the GM. The article is written by someone who is on the same level as Eklund. No inside scoop no knowledge of the situation and the fact that he has stated the nucks are centering a trade around franzen means that he does not have much of an imagination either. If Edler is being dangled Gillis would want something that looks like Mantha/Nyquist/Brendan Smith and no less then that.

Edler to Detroit for mantha helm and first. Then burrows to mtl for lars eller. It s a good re-tool and injects good youth and cap space into the team.

Wow the boner people have for tanev is amazing. He will never be a number one dman and that's what a lot of you are valuing him as. Edler is far better then Tanev and the only reason tanev is considered such a golden child is since he was never drafted. I would move him for an evander kane or ror in a fricken heartbeat.

I like the fact that there is another GM out there willing to do moves with Gillis. Good to know that Bergervin and Gillis can do a deal and maybe this sets up a bigger move with them over the next few weeks, ala Edler for Pacioretty pow pow!

Colorado is not going to trade O'reilly. This is just a news story the media came up with since they have very little else to talk about when it comes to big name players moving. No way does Colorado move him and in the slight chance that they do not to a divisional rival, he will be moved out east.

Give me a break, Kane would be a stud return for those two and a pick if necessary....Kane is 23 and not even close to the prime of his career and there is no way a guy like gaunce will get close to Kane's level. Gotta trade something to get something or are you one of those, "hey lets trade booth and alberts for evander kane" type of guys?

Trading tanev gaunce and a pick for something like Evander Kane is the equivlant of selling everything ? Give your head a shake. If the jets took that deal Gillis would be considered GM of the year!

With aging Sedins you need to start thinking of getting chips in that will replace their production (or at least supplement it) now not in 4 to 5 years. We can't copy the Detroit, San Jose and Anaheim model as our prospect pool is too bleak. Getting a guy like E. Kane and giving up the chips mentioned is a no brainer. A 23 year old power forward who can score...I mean c'mon!

Typical, if gillis can pull that deal off it would take this team to the next level. As a canuck fan it pisses me off how we continually overvalue our own talent and undervalue others. Take off the rose colored glasses! You must have also hated keenen for trading linden for bertuzzi, mcabe and ruutu?!

Gillis needs to raid the jets....go all in for guys like ladd and kane. Offer up Eddie Lack, Tanev, Gaunce, and a first and more if necessary. We have a really good set of Dmen but our forwards are below league average (for playoff teams). Need to shift the balance on this team. Team needs a sniper!

If O'reilly or Kane are on the market, those two will be swapping cities.

Cody at almost 5million a year....pass go...don't look back. Get ever it, he's playing big minutes on probably the leagues worst team, he ain't worth what he's getting paid not do we need em.

Canucks need one of these types of guys: Ott, Dubinsky, Ladd. Need guys that can play tough minutes and can play against oppositions to guns. The other route would be to try and pull a blockbuster for guys like E. Kane, Pacioretty but that is extremely unlikely. Look for the nucks to part ways with a Schroeder and pick for an Ott type player. The other wildcard would be to try getting Glencross out of Calgary, he can score 20-25 goals, crash and bang and scrap. Could be a good under the radar top 6 pickup.

You got to give up something of good value to get something of good value. Canucks position of strength is D and canucks position of weakness is goal scoring. Its natural to trade from a position of strength to improve areas of weakness. Trading a top Dman for a goal scorer makes way too much sense for Vancouver. Plus, us as canucks fans always overvalue our young talent. Give it one more year and all those individuals that hated the Cody for Zach trade will be loving it...book it! A trade of Tanev, Gaunce, Hansen or pick for E. Kane would be unbelievable for Vancouver. Guys like Kane don't come around too often and become available in a trade even less frequently.

Would take Horvat, draft pick and top 4 dman to make this deal happen.

I would trade Horvat for Kane in a fricken heartbeat! If Horvat ever even comes close to the player Kane is it would be amazing....if we can get that type of guy right now it is a no brainer! Kane is a stud, players with hear and has amazing skill and very young. No way jets give up on him in my opinion.

Get off of this linden kick! Jeez it's just like having stan smyl in the scouting department, we have no winning history or tradition and just because he was a decent player for us does not mean he should be a coach. The amount of butt kissing with linden in this town makes me physically ill. Bring in some guys that have won the cup at both the coaching and player level....currently we got nobody with that experience in this organization.
