  1. They are replaying it at 9pm tonight on Spike, which is perfect because I can watch the Pens game at 430 and catch this UFC card at 9. A full night of sports! Hooray!

k thanks. ill check it out.

damn ufc and their wrong time listings (unless that 7pm is for something else)

+ im going to stop checking this thread because of spoilers

8 seconds? damn, Houston just got Houston'd.

  2. No, it's at 4pm. You are in Vancouver no?

And I agree with Karo. He just looks like a douce. And boring as hell.

How huge is Hamill vs Boetsch gonna be?? IMO, this should be the main event.

And will Houston bounce back from his loss to Thiago Silva?

Sucks I gotta work at 6, so I have to PVR it and wait til 2:30am to watch it. Hopefully nobody blows it for me.

I hope Hamill wins, I think he royally got screwed by Bisping. His next fight should have been a rematch but now Bisping has dropped to middleweight i think.

Let's see if Hoston has worked on his ground game. Hes a good punchers but seemed so poor on the ground.

I checked UFC (you can double check) http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=eventDetai...rd&eid=1072

    Date Time: 04/02/2008 7pm PT/ET

    Event Type: UFC Fight Night

7pm pacific. I guess the people in the east get to watch it live no?

or are you sure its on at 4pm on spike west too?

  3. Anbody gonna watch Fight Night in an hour???

Spike TV, free PPV if anyone's interested.

    I am.

In an hour?? I thought the fight was at 6 on Spike no?

I want Karo to lose by knockout haha. I find his fighting style boring. This Fight Night is better than the next UFC in montreal sadly. Its stacked!

  4. Why the Bisping hate? It's not his fault the judges dropped the ball.

I think its because of his lack of respect after winning that decision against Hamill. He told him to go back to wrestling and when asked by reporters if they think he won, he started swearing at them.

It was that lack of class that made him lose fans. He was getting his butt kicked yet in his mind he won and it wasn't really that close.

Seems bisping is fighting a can to pad his record.

  5. hahaha, there's also this big chinese boxer with blue hair. He actually looks like an alien. I never found out his name, I'll try and find the video

    10oleeh.jpg

I think you are thinking of the same guy. Hong Man Choi. He fights in K-1. It's kickboxing. He died his hair for the K-1 World Grand Prix 2007 Final in Japan.

Is Dana not letting Emelianenko fight in the UFC or does Fedor just not want to? He would surely dominate his division

Dana offered him a contract, Fedor didnt like it and declined and joined M-1.

Then Dana said Fedor sucks because he couldnt get him and he didnt want people to watch M-1 haha.

  6. The thing is you're basing everything on records and not the skill of the fighter itself. If you watch Silva's fights, he absolutely rolls through his opponents. Don't get me wrong, GSP is one of my favorite fighters and he's one of the best in the world, but he can't control fights like Anderson Silva does.

I don't follow Pride as much but I do realize they have world-class fighters over there, including Fedor, Wanderlei, and Mauricio.

No not at all. The problem is that your basing everything on how the fight goes. If a good fighter, fights average fighters its obviously going to make him look better. If you can do the same thing against a string of high caliber fighters, thats where you earn a p4p status. Not beating up chumps.

GSP rolls through high class fighters. He doesnt fight subpar fighters that make him look good. Wanderlei fought cro cop and mark hunt. This is a guy that looks for a challenge. Shogun's brother Ninja fought Quinton Jackson and beat him. (even though the decision went the other way rampage admits there was an error from judges.) Like i said, watch some previous pride videos. Their LHW and HW divisions were strong. WW in UFC is strong.

MW is iffy and sparse. Theres not enough talent in one organization to get a great reading.

You cant beat 4 guys and be called best p4p. After beating 4 guys he ran out of guys to fight. Thats why henderson came down. Thats pretty pathetic. He should move up. Its like GSP beating up Matt Hughes, Pariysian, Dave Strasser, Jay Hieron and then going well, no more people to fight now, im the best without facing miller, sherk, bj penn, kos etc.

I wouldnt consider GSP best p4p after 4 fights either. Its too little to make a conclusion. Dana White just says this crap to make UFC seem like the best. Thats why he constantly puts down Fedor as well by saying he sucks and praises Big Nog who got his @ss kicked by Emalianko.

  7. 1. Wow! Never seen or even heard about that before. Was that Rampage with Coleman???

    2. Never seen this one either. I'd love to see a video of it. MMA Linker is down right now, so I can't look for it there.

    haha yeah thats rampage.

heres the fedor fight. I watched it on PPV so it showed everything. This one only shows the fight though. Watch how colemans face looks after the beat down.

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjtse_fedor-vs-coleman-ii

what they dont show you is his daughters coming into the ring in tears and him trying to get them to stop crying. it was brutal. Today Coleman came into the ring he brought his 2 girls into the ring again. messed up. hehe i think theyve seen enough MMA.

on a side note check this out. Hilarious coleman commercial with wanderlei.

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1516070093130551292

seems they put their differences aside and shaved each other :D

  8. Nice research Pfizer.

I could see Roger Huerta becoming the next best pound-for-pound fighter. If he wins his next fight, I can see him being the #1 contender to B.J.... I say B.J. because he will destroy Sean Sherk and will remain the champ.

Also, Thiago Silva is insane. This guy looks like he's gonna be unstoppable.

But yah, I definetly agree that GSP is the best pfp fighter on the planet right now. So unbelievably well-rounded.

thanks. Yeah Huerta is pretty cool to watch. I like how he used the bigscreen tv to throw elbows to the guy behind him. BJ is really something if only he would condition himself. Hes got so much raw talent. Thiago is pretty good but i guess we have to see some more fights out of him. Houston Alexander seemed like a tank before Thiago exposed his no ground game. I agree that he does seem like he has some firepower.

Every time I think of Coleman, I think of when Pete Williams booted him in the face, knocking him out cold at UFC 17. I remember watching that live and everyone did the "Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!" when he go the boot!

haha  everytime i think of coleman I think of 2 things.

    1. this video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7926249284426295741 At pride 31 shogun accidentally dislocated his arm and buy he kept coming at him even though the fight was finished. Then wanderlei stepped in to the ring and coleman stepped on his head when the axe murdere slipped and fell on the ring. Then this swearing match began backstage.

    2. When Coleman got his donkey BEAT down by Fedor infront of Coleman's daughters. Oh man that so was so bad it was funny. His face was mashed up and his daughters came into the ring and he was like "im ok girls daddy is ok" and they started crying because his face was screwed up and bleeding in front of these 2 little girls. Man thats something to be like 8 years old and watch your dad get the living crap kicked out of him in front of you.

  9. You obviously haven't watched UFC very long. How can you say Silva hasn't fought anyone near the caliber that GSP has fought?

Do you realize that nobody thought that Rich Franklin could be defeated when he was dominating his division? Franklin had one loss prior to fighting Silva and was a beast in all his fights. However, when it came time to fight Silva he got absolutely dominated, all in the first round. The reason Franklin "walked into the punches" is because he couldnt get away from Silva and his Thai clinch. Franklin said himself that he couldn't pull from it. Silva also fought Chris Leben who is tough as nails and finished him early in the first round.

Ive been watching UFC probably long before you have. Since UFC 2. Missed some in the middle there but tried to catch the ones i missed.

Silva hasn't even come close to the type of fighters GSP has fought. Almost all these guys are top ranked fighters that hes fought back to back since coming to the UFC.

Most of these guys are average fighters in the middleweight.

Franklin was on a role but he fought very poorly. Dan Henderson reiterated the same thing too. That the middleweight division is weak and Silva should not be labelled best pound for pound. He said GSP and BJ Penn should have that title.

Chris Leben got beat by 2 Canadian guys too Kalib Starnes and Jason McDonald who are good but not great.

It seems you just watch UFC. Have you ever checked out some of the pride fighters? Shogun has more title to the p4p throne even though he lost his last one fighting injured.

these are what you call quality fighters.

or a BJ Penn who fought in LW, Welterweight and nearly beat LHW undefeated Machida at k-1. Wanderlei Silva has lost his last couple but hes fought some quality opponents. Fedor Emelianko has fought some cans but hes fought some big time guys too. Hes beat big nog 3 times in pride and heath herring.

Take a look at the guys these people have fought, then look at who Anderson Silva has fought. Then you will see how weak middleweight is. Paul Filho and Matt Lindland, some top middleweight arent even in the UFC. It was good that he beat Henderson today but hes a really good fighter, but hasnt fought enough truly great fighter to be called p4p best. He was 5-0 in the UFC (3-0 if you exclude Franklin 2x) and hes the best p4p? His fights before that were mostly average too.

If you take out the Franklin fight, and take out Hughes from GSP, its not even close at the quality of opponents. WW division is so deep.

do yourself a favour, watch pride fighting as well. not just ufc.

  10. i hope dan wins!

i think silva is overated. hes a great fighter but not close to being the pound 4 pound best like some have said including Dana.

rich franklin sucked when he fought him. He kept walking into punches, you would have thought he would have tried something else especially in the 2nd fight. He did nothing but take a beating. Atleast Matt Hughes tried to go more wrestling in his second fight with Georges. Plus middleweight is a weak division.

i want dan to win so this p4p myth can be destroyed.

Anderson hasnt fought the caliber of competition GSP has.

if he can KO dan i will be impressed but he still has to win a lot more good competition to get p4p status.

  11. GSP is one of my absolute fav fighters but i don't see that much "street fighetr" in him. i see a very skilled technical fighter with a long classic martial arts background and an exceptional athlete. the latter will probably be the key-factor for tonight's fight. little time to prepare and an opponent who will not go down fast. stamina and condition will be crucial, i reckon.

yeah hes very talents. When I say street fighter, i mean street fighter 2 the video game. He will go in for the jab, then back up, superman punch, roundhouse kick, spinning back fist, leg sweep and then axe kick when the opponent is on the ground. He's so dynamic like when you start pressing all the buttons in the video game.

Most fighters are punchers, some wrestle, some go Jiu Jutsu as their advantage, hes so well rounded in every facet of the game, he's all over the place.

Finally found this thread. CDC search is ????ing broken, doesn't work worth ????.

:D I had that problem too. Turns out when you do a search it has to be more than 3 letters.

But that UFC was pretty wicked! Machida really took Soko to school there. Seems without his early knockouts he didnt really provide much MMA wise. He was getting manhandled.

The silva/ liddell fight went as planned. A complete KO war. I didnt like the fact Liddell went in for the takedowns. Hes been saying he wanted to knock out Silva for so long that he should have kept it standing. I knew Silva wanted a straight knockout. He never even attempt to try and take him down. I think it was classy he wanted to put on a show for the fans. Other than those 2 takedowns for points, Liddell did great too for the fans.

GSP was a complete monster in that match. It looked like Hughes was a rookie there. He just got ripped apart. I hope he doesnt retire though, I want him to fight Serra still. But it looks like GSP will fight him first since there is a UFC in montreal in April i think. If Serra doesnt heal in time then i guess it will be Hughes up first.

  12. for people new to MMA heres a cool site

    http://www.mmalinker.com/

pick a fighter on the left side and it will link to their video. You wont find their fights on youtube because of copyright problems, but people have uploaded them onto other sites.

Here's the link for Georges St Pierre. I think hes one of the most exciting mixed martial artists at the moment. He comes out with some crazy street fighter moves.

    http://www.mmalinker.com/index.php?name=Ge...mp;mtype=Select

  13. UFC79.png

    UFC 79

    Main Card

    * Interim welterweight championship bout: United States Matt Hughes vs. 22px-Flag_of_Canada.svg.png Canada Georges St. Pierre

    * Light heavyweight bout: United States Chuck Liddell vs. Brazil Wanderlei Silva

    * Light heavyweight bout: Brazil Lyoto Machida vs. Cameroon Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou

    * Lightweight bout: United States Rich Clementi vs. Flag of the United States Melvin Guillard

    * Heavyweight bout: United States Eddie Sanchez vs. Australia Soa Palalei

This is probably the best UFC card I think I have ever seen. The scrap everyone has been waiting a couple years for: Liddell vs the Axe Murderer. Im going to give this one to Wanderlei. His mixed martial arts is of a more complete variety. Liddell will try for the knockout but Silva will be content with either a KO or a Ground and Pound. Chuck showed in his last fight that he will wait and wait for a knockout that may never come.

Canada's Georges St Pierre is back after training with the Canadian Olympic Wrestling Team and a good camp in Montreal training with North Vancouver native and Pride fighter Dennis Kang, Keith Jardine, Rashad Evans, boxers Greg Jackson camp etc. I hope GSP knocks Matt the hell out like last time.

    6l0kcp1.jpg

Machida vs Sokoudjou is another interesting bout. Machida is undefeated but Sokoudjou has manhandled his last 2 opponents. Quick brutual knockouts. I guess this fight should show if Terry is a 2 hit wonder or if he presents a serious thread in the light heavyweight.

Dont care for the other 2 matches that much, but the top 3 are huge match ups.

    Here's a fellow youtuber's prediction:

The weigh ins are at 4pm today and you can watch them live on the internet on UFC.com nbc/yahoo/foxsports.com.

  14. Have you seen any of Fedors fights? http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/searc...ilianenko_sport

Watched pride? Here is a good one of Ryo Chonan fighting Anderson Silva. Best Submission I have ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUltqxzYOb4

K-1 Heroes? Check out "The Kid"

Cung le This guy is freaking scary with his legs.

Here is some K-1 kick boxing aswell Peter Aerts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJapdnJyyyM

    Jerome Lebanner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im1FAepW8II

Start with this stuff if you have not seen it before and I will update the thread with more stuff if you are interested. :)

    theres another great site

    http://www.mmalinker.com/index.php?name=Ge...amp;btnG=Select

on this site you can pick a mixed martial artist and they will give you a list of their videos scattered from the web. Much better than trying to google for awhile.

Ive got it set on GSP. B)

  15. That is funny actually. But they don't IP ban you unless you really deserve it so making a new name is pretty simple. It is probably the busiest forum I use regularly, so I understand why they ban so easily there. There is always some excitement going on there. You can go there at anytime day or night and have about 2000 keyboard warriors online. :)

Yeah that place is super busy. I think they need more mods because that place is out of control.

People will make 10 fedor vs couture, Liddell vs Silva, GSP vs Fitch etc threads. Its so redundant.

That forum is almost too busy. You can make a thread, and then hit refresh and its already on the 2nd page, wait 2 minutes, hit refresh and its on the third page and no one got a change to read it.

I probably wont make another account. I just go there to read the latest news.

  16. No denying that on my part. But at least there are knowledgeable fans.

I posted on sherdog a couple of times. I was banned for making a thread about a tickling manoeuver i developed. Where a guy can tickle when in the guard and then in the clinch to get a take down.

Seems the mods there lack humour. When i logged in an automatic message said:

    BANNED!

    Timelimit: Forever

Bisping was completely exposed for what he was. "Hype" He lost to a guy that didn't even fight.

yeah it just basically turned into a wrestling match. Bisping gets up, Rashad throws him to the ground, Bisping gets up, Rashad throw him to the ground. Repeat over and over.

I think Main Event matches should be 5 rounds. 3 seem to suck as a main draw.
