Without the team funding this site, we will probably each need to throw in a few bucks to keep the alternative going.
I already recommended a small sub of a few bucks a month each. Should cover the cost and then some, especially as hundreds migrate over the next two weeks.

Damn, this sucks.
Way to alienate a passionate fan base.
This might be one of the most boneheaded decisions made by an inept team owned by a trust fund brat who is to stupid to run his father's other, more successful companies.
Oh well, its been fun. I've had a great time. See some of ya on reddit?

Dear CDC,
It is with mixed emotions that I write this farewell post today. In two weeks' time, our beloved Canucks forum will be closing its doors, and it's a bittersweet moment for me as I reflect on the incredible 13-year journey we've shared here.
For over a decade, this forum has been a second home for me, a place where I've laughed, debated, celebrated, and grown alongside an amazing group of passionate Vancouver Canucks fans. I've seen players come and go, witnessed the highs and lows of our team, and shared countless unforgettable moments with all of you.
For the last 7 years, I've had the distinct honour and privilege of serving as a moderator here. This role allowed me to give back to a community that has given me so much. It's been an incredible journey, and I want to take a moment to give a special shoutout to @-SN- for believing in me and providing me with the opportunity to become a moderator. Your support and trust have meant the world to me, and I will always be grateful for this chance to contribute to our amazing community.
I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the entire moderating team. Together, we've worked tirelessly to maintain the integrity of this forum, foster engaging discussions, and create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Your dedication, professionalism, and camaraderie have been the driving force behind our success. Thank you for being fantastic teammates, and I will cherish the memories we've created together.
As we bid farewell to the Canucks forum, I want to acknowledge @-SN- for his thoughtful gesture of setting up a new forum for us. It's a generous offer, and while I'm uncertain about my future participation, I encourage all of you to explore this new platform and continue the traditions and connections we've built over the years. Change can be intimidating, but it can also lead to new and exciting opportunities.
In the meantime, I hope our paths will cross again in the world of Canucks fandom. Whether it's on the new forum or in other online communities, I look forward to sharing our passion for the team and staying connected with all of you.
Thank you, CDC, for 13 unforgettable years filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the shared love for our Vancouver Canucks. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
Best wishes to you all,
-Vintage Canuck-

Honestly, I don't like getting sentimental. I prefer making jokes at bad times and pissing people off. But damn man. This forum was literally the biggest reason the last 10 years weren't miserable as a Canucks fan. Sure butted heads with folks, but it was always a lot more chill than Reddit. And I don't even wanna begin to talk about how I had to delete Twitter cause that was a disaster. Even worse now I hear. This forum meant a lot to me. Never thought my 10th anniversary here would be my last year here.
Changed your name... 10th anniversary... this really is your fault. You better be giving out free cuddles, Jeremy.

This is brutal. Shame on the decision-maker for doing this.

Man, if Raty and McDonough can improve their skating, they will be huge help to the team in a year or two - IQ and skill are obviously there.

Yes exactly. At least Miller threw hits too. Horvat became a selfish player his last year with us, can't really blame him either, because he wasn't before that. Was pretty mediocre under Greens system play, but look at his linemates. Did have one great series against St. Louis. Was hoping that IF we made the playoffs, that rep would continue. Horvat was just the best we had at the time. If we had better, not sure he would have got the C. I never saw Linden watch a player get rubbed out or take a cheap shot, and just skate away like it's just part of the game, he'd be in a scrum right away. That part or pacifism, rubbed me wrong. I'm also tired of that type of Captain. Hope QHs can at least inspire his crew to come to his rescue when needed. The entire bench would stand up and start screaming when Linden was in trouble. Remember a game when Sandy McCarthy had him turtled and was pounding away at his kidneys. Gino (his friend) sure took exception to that.
Horvat got what he wanted. And will be a rich rich man as a result, no cups in his future.

Beauty clip in that link of what Hughes will do when teammates take cheap shots from opponents.

I hope fans can show class. We cheered for Bo when he was a Canuck. As far as I can tell, he worked hard and did his job well as player and as captain - he doesn't all of a sudden become a piece of crap just because he's wearing a different uniform. He didn't screw us over or anything - we got good value for him in the trade. He had to do what he thought was right for him and his family. Let's respect that and be respectful.
Bo ostensibly gave up on the team and fans and sacrificed leadership/hard work for his own personal gain. This is what rubbed so many fans the wrong way. So many people were lambasting Miller for floating, but if they watched Bo for an entire shift, they would've seen him as even worse with his work ethic - until, of course, the moment came where a pass or tip was coming at him. And then there's the lack of pushback when one of his teammates took a cheap shot, which is completely unacceptable for a player, let alone the captain.

“One of my biggest regrets in leaving Vancouver is not being able to win for them. I wanted to win, wanted to bring a Stanley Cup to Vancouver. And I couldn't get it done. That's probably my biggest non-accomplishment as a captain. But I think Quinn’s got all the qualities to help turn that team around. If there's one guy that's going to lead the way on that team, it's Quinn Hughes.”
I'm surprised Bo finally stuck up for a [former] teammate

Heard on the radio that Quinn mentioned many current and former teammates who helped him become a leader along the way, but Horvat wasn't one of them. Likely just an oversight, but kinda a big one considering Bo was just recently the captain for many years.

This is the right call and needed to be done this year. You can't start the season with a fresh start but still have the captaincy debate lingering. This allows for a more focused direction as a team, and players will follow quarterback's lead.
Great start to the week

the canucks bottom 6 still misses his motor and grit.
Joshua, PDG, Aman, Podkolzin, Hogs, Pearson all bring more to the table than Motte, imo.

Nope. Myers needs to go. Juulsson and Woo are better. Cleanse the Benning from this club.
Johansson might also be ready.

Jeff Patterson started a rumour that JT Miller said he would only accept the captaincy if the org agreed to shut this site down. So, I guess JT has already been chosen as the next captain and he may yet get his way in terms of this site potentially shutting down. Now the haters can really sink their teeth into some solid trade proposals
For real or joking?
