Boeser with retention could probably nab a late 1st.

Other scoring options like Meier and Tarasenko are gonna cost more than that so Boeser could be seen as a cheaper option. Having him at 5 mil is a bargain.

the only way i see getting a 1st for boeser is if canucks retain half his cap hit. i would prefer it that they take back an expiring contract. who would be sensible buyouts?

As I mentioned already in this thread. If they aren’t willing to pay Larkin 8m+, what makes people think they’re willing to pay Horvat 8m?

Horvat also probably doesn’t want to re-sign with Detroit, with the uncertainty of Larkin.

i hear they offer 8 for larkin but he wants 9. who can live on a pultry 8 mil?

Can't disagree there.  I think the biggest issue was trading away two 1sts and two 2nds.  Those first 2 rounds are so vital in keeping talent coming into the system.  We definitely need to restock, including looking at the NCAA and overseas (which I'm sure is in the plans).  Adding 1 or 2 prospects from other sources and keeping the 1st and 2nd round picks would make a huge difference.  Can you imagine if we were able to draft say a Dvorsky and Allen/Bonk in the first 2 rounds this year, plus adding Livingstone?  That's 3 top talents in one year added to the pool.

Podkolzin (still a developing prospect in my opinion)

Hoglander (still a developing prospect in my opinion)

    Dvorsky

    Livingstone

    Bonk/Allen

    Lekkerimaki

    Mcdonough

    Pettersson (D)

    Rathbone

    Klimovich

    Karlsson

plus if horvat gives us carlo, lysell and beecher.
