  1. Nylander is a 17 year old. He's still going to grow and put on more muscle. That report was in August of 2013 and listed him as 5'10" and 170 lbs. According to the latest ISS rankings released this earlier today, Nylander is now 5'11" and 176 lbs. Who's to say he can't grow another inch and gain another 5-10-15-20 pounds by the time he's ready for the NHL? I think he'll end up being 6'0" 185 lbs, which is similar to the Sedins and is certainly respectable. Speed and skill is his game, but if you surround him with bigger forwards like Kassian or Jensen or Gaunce, then is his lack of size really something to worry about?
  2. Uncovered an interesting tidbit about William Nylander. Apparently, (well, according to a few posters on the HF boards), Nylander has played the North American game before which should help him adjust/transition to the AHL/NHL more easier: SOURCE: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1646153 IMO I still think we should draft offensive skill over size with our pick. If none of the top 5 slip to 6th then we should go with either Nylander or Ehlers (preferably Nylander as he can be an elite 1C). If and only if we add another draft pick (like Ottawa's 10th overall) we go for the local boy Virtanen, that way we can trend towards a more Bruin-style of hockey while still maintaining top-end skill. Virtanen - Nylander - Jensen Shinkaruk - Horvat - Kassian If Linden plays his cards right he can set us up offensively for the next decade (assuming our prospects pan out).
  3. I would consider it given the team's direction (skill game or physical game), but I would much rather draft offensive skill. Some people think that Virtanen is a finisher and not a playmaker; the kid can not create offense off the cycle or with zone play. With the 6th overall draft pick, we should be able to get a guy that can both create plays and finish them. That being said, for the sake of staying physical in a tough Pacific division, I wouldn't be opposed to drafting Virtanen. If we added a another top 10 pick and drafted a highly skilled guy with our own 6th overall, then snagging Virtanen with the other pick would be even better.
  4. IMO if Edmonton doesn't get Ekblad I think they'll trade down to 6-10 to draft Fleury. That team needs the d
  5. If none of the top 5 fall to us then I think we should take Ehlers. It would be awesome if we were to get the Ottawa's 10th overall pick from Anaheim and draft Nylander (if he's still around). The kid has top line offensive talent and can play C or RW. In any case, we need to draft pure offensive talent. EDIT: Nik Ehlers with 20 points (8-12-20) in 9 playoff games. Only Drouin has more (9-18-27). As an aside, Mantha has less with 15 points (10-5-15).
  6. Horvat - Malkin - Kassian Daniel - Henrik - Burrows Gaunce - Matthias - Higgins ______ - Richardson - Hansen Sestito, Jensen Hamhuis - Tanev Garrison - Diaz Stanton - Bieksa Corrado Lack Markstrom Sounds like some pretty good depth to me. It's too bad it'll take more to land Malkin alone though.
  7. Happy for Luongo. Glad everything is over and he can just focus on playing the game. That being said, wow Gillis needs to go. The Luongo return is understandable but he screwed this whole situation up big time. I just hope he doesn't screw up a potential Kesler or Edler trade.
  8. With Martin out for 4-6 weeks and Niskanen being a UFA at the end of the season, would Pittsburgh consider trading for Edler? I would love to see James Neal in a Canuck Jersey. He is a big body with a great, quick-release shot and knows where to go to score goals. At the moment he is scoring at an incredible pace but Pittsburgh is so good offensively that I think they can afford to lose him. I would go Edler, Schroeder, and a pick for Neal. He may not be our "saviour" for this year but next year we'd have a pretty good top 9: Daniel - Henrik - Kassian Horvat - Kesler - Neal Burrows - Gaunce - Hansen
  9. Them Swedes are straight from a GQ mag. Too bad I can't find an image though.
  10. Wow Sami Salo still has it. Saved Maata on that Perry toe drag by coming across the ice and deflecting that puck into the netting.
  11. Durrrrr too many RHD in the system. Bieksa, Tanev, Diaz, Weber, Corrado, and Subban. /Canucksmanagementthinking
  12. I wouldn't give up our first this year. The way we're playing we might get a top 10 -- heck even a top 5 -- pick.
  13. That goal: Higgins finishes check, creates turnover, goes to the net, gets a pass, scores. That's how you do it.
  14. Edler for O'Reilly Horvat+ for Kane Daniel - Henrik - Kane O'Reilly - Kesler - Kassian Higgins - Richardson - Burrows future top 6 of: Kane - Kesler - Kassian Guance - O'Reilly - Shinkaruk Git'r dun GM MG
  15. Lucic also has nearly 100 more hits than Kassian. Zack needs to step it up in the physicality department.
  16. Edler for O'Reilly please. Heck, I'd do an Edler + Schroeder or a 2nd to seal it. O'Reilly is exactly what we need, and if we can lock him up for a 6 x 6 type of deal then we'd be gold! So what if it's a steep qualifying offer or contract, we desperately need a top line talent and O'Reilly fits the bill exactly. He's skilled enough to create a formidable 2nd line and young enough to grow with Kassian, Gaunce, Horvat, Shinkaruk et al. Do it, MG!
  17. Moral victory. This will go a long way for the Canucks.
