  1. Pretty cool how Cage prepped his character though, he went to Ireland and had a friend film him while he went on a two week bender.
  2. Yeah, ironically I find a report like this to be the first step forward. I stand by the prediction I made about 3 weeks ago, the signing will come out of nowhere in the middle of August. 1.2/1.3 cap hit.
  3. Liking this song and the album its from. Pretty cool video too.
  4. HELLLLLZ YEAH WE'LL BE THERE especially know that we know a CDC homie is on the bill and hooking us up, I'm in, sounds like Glassjaw's in, anyone else?
  5. hi Lulover, would it be possible you could stick to talking about music, which is the subject of this thread, instead of instigating pointless internet fights?
  6. hmmm, hey Avelanch, if you haven't gone to see Pacific Rim yet, this might interest you. I'm reconsidering seeing it in 3D now. http://www.kcrw.com/...ermo_del_toro_p
  7. Yep, historically Kesler's performance has cast a shadow over what really happened in that series. Definition of a goalie duel.
  8. I haven't seen PR yet but a friend saw it in both Imax and 3D, said that the 3D print of it came out really dark and that it was tough to tell what was going on in the dark, rainy battle scenes.
  9. New single from Shad, new album coming in October. Great song but one of the cheapest looking videos I've ever seen
  10. British psych-jazz collective The Heliocentrics have a new album out and it.is.fantastic. Best listened to in its entirety with headphones on and a spliff in hand, but here's a sample Daughn Gibson's new album is pretty f'd too, in a different direction, like Kurt Vile meets Mark Lanegan with hints of Donovan and Smog:
  11. Did he die, Eyedea? I had one of their albums maybe 10 years ago or so, dude was incredibly fast although I found his lyrics somewhat silly. I might have mentioned this already a few pages back but I forget and it's worth mentioning again re:hip hop, Killer Mike and EL-P released a free album a little while back. Can't get enough of these two, I hope they continue to collaborate: http://foolsgoldrecs.com/runthejewels/
  12. Puck Daddy's top-10 list today. Lu at #3: http://sports.yahoo....html#more-64540
  13. oh, and I also re-watched the first two of the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy recently, in preparation for World's End. Shaun of the Dead - 8/10 Hot Fuzz - 9/10 SotD is possibly the better movie from a film-making point of view, the writing is ridiculously tight and the pacing never stops moving upwards. I think I'm just weird and like the way HF screws with the viewer, switching genres and playing with the pace every now and then. Regardless I've got my fingers crossed that WE can pull off a perfect 10/10 score.
  14. Such a great movie! I watched a 2002 movie called Spun last night - 7.5/10 Weird hyperactive movie about a group of meth heads, like a cross between Requiem for a Dream + Trainspotting. Crazy cast of characters/actors - Jason Schwartzman, John Leguizamo, Brittany Murphy, Mickey Rourke. Bunch of cameos too, Rob Halford, Debbie Harry, Ron Jeremy. It was weird but worthwhile.
  15. (just a side note to anyone having trouble getting a youtube vid embedded, remove the 's' in https at the start of the url)
  16. My advice would be, stop putting the word viral in quotation marks, ie. something theoretical that people do, and go make a viral video. But - before doing that, make sure you have a supporting cast of videos on your channel that lean in the same direction while still being different, and be prepared to pump out videos daily afterwards. Ready? Go!
  17. The East - 9/10 - I picked this randomly just based on the poster at the theatre, knew absolutely nothing about it. I don't watch TV in the off-season so have no idea if it's getting promoted or not, but here's a trailer: Really, really solid movie - no one part really stood out and it probably won't win any awards, but it was just a great little suspense movie. Basically about an ex-FBI agent turned private security consultant who is hired to infiltrate an extremist anarchy/activism cell. Fast (but not too fast) paced, emotional without getting sappy, , some very original/creative scenes (the dinner scene when she first meets the group is particularly memorable to me). Solid acting all the way, especially Ellen Page who I've never really been wowed by, but here she does a perfect job as an insecure, awkward, but boiling with repressed anger activist. Highly recommend it.
  18. Before Midnight 7.5/10 Short and simple like the first two movies, not for everyone but I love them. For the most part its just Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy talking while walking around a small peninsula in Greece. I hope they keep making a new one every ten years, it's like a fictional version of Seven-Up.
