Like Smyl said himself, he will do any role asked of him. Clearly that wasn’t going to be Pres or GM. It doesn’t diminish his front office standing at all. Rutherford is far more qualified. Being a former Canuck should make no difference. He isn’t owed either job.
I'm not sure but it seems to me Aqua hires those vested in the franchise over the years but if we remain a soft seasonal team with a lot of skill but falls flat in the first round but fills the house all season I doubt he cares all that much..

Maybe Stan can give boxing lessons to Petey, Hughes,Boeser etc.. Stan could scrap! I'll give him that!

However on my bday on the 12th we take on a real team and see how we perform I think will how we will be judged on needs, but it's not rocket science we need help on D and the forwards upgraded as in the plugs, like hunt chaisson then if it's actually with big fast mobile PMD's we might get somewhere but I have my doubts.. I just hope Klim isn't traded..

Why do so many people suddenly think Stan Smyl was the answer as Pres and GM. Literally have never seen a single person advocate for him ever before now.
I actually agree with you on that, it's been argued that he has an franchise tie and has done things within it long enough...

This is awesome news.
We sorely missed a president and now we have one with cup pedigree. We have respectable faces in the front office now.
Aquaman finally gets it.
We haven't had a regime like this since the Quinn Burke days, and now we still have to add one more piece for GM.
until the softness gets dealt with, IF and when it does, until then it doesn't matter who is at the helm, we're not winning a cup, maybe a great season if we're lucky and a quick bounce out or when we run into a tougher physical team.
Years of rebuilding, tearing down, rebuilding, over and over.
I WISH this wasn't reality but Vancouver wants a seasonal soft skilled team... all there is to it, only a few of us want more than that.

the LE react was unnecessary
It was, he didn't have to bow to public screams and rants. He needed to put another Anson Carter (big tougher and skilled) but that was a mistake he finally realized when it comes playoff times, toughness makes all the difference. Either that or sign a BIG skilled PMD for each line which he tried to do but what was out there was ok at best, we needed a good year with better players to join Bo and co. so he tried to trade more at first and draft for a change and work away slowly from relying on trades so much so we have depth that has to be there for anyone to win a cup.. yeah he made mistakes but at least he got us on the road now but I doubt we will stay the course and direction of really being hard to play against and bring it up a notch by having the players capable of dishing it out more than taking it which went on for way too long and made punching bags out of the sedins..
So now, here we are, back to square one, get the toast and get ready for the "butter"
This is what I'm afraid of.. another highly skilled butter soft team with no depth.

Nope, and as much as I would have liked to have seen JB experience some real success during his tenure, its time to start fresh.
If he actually got to finish things.. he finally got it through his head that small speedy soft cream puff teams never make it to the cup, but his problem was that there hasn't been much available to fill in with the core but plugs until better comes along and Kids like Klim with an overdrive like Garland but bigger.. has been our Achilles heel for so long, doubt that JB's gone will that ever happen. Last time it happened was 2012 but we sold the future out to get it.. then it was exposed by lack of depth. Everyone in Vancouver wants that though so.. don't expect a cup anytime soon unless changes and the majority fans want the one cup and sell everything to get it so back that again..

He just ran out of time…
agreed, and we still need 2-3 more players who have some toughness for teams like the B's but like that's going to happen anytime soon..

We need the Dmen. blindside elbow could do more dmg and its only a suspension too. Chiasson must be the sacrifice
How about a Bure elbow?

We need Höglander to do a ‘Michigan” in this game. Would be a perfect end to beat these rats…
beat these "Marchand's" you mean?

When the Aquas die, they better leave the team to Smyl in their will.

no it's true, compare what you'd hear from a announcer like ken hodge for instance and then re-listen to those 2... you'd see what I mean, bush league compared to professional..

omg Stan... (we're F'D!) What direction the team needs to take?? omfg!!! How about NOT a butter soft team for a change!

well if it just gets us the same ole which it's been for 42 years what's the point? Aqua would take no $&!#es to what anyone does as long as the seats are full during the season, yeah more is a bonus but even if we get a tougher team, it probably will be the same as in no depth or very little (2012) especially, for example, get deep then the rug pulled.. I'm fn tired of that!
Other than that, bounced out first round. I'm just tired of that Amigo..
