Very little is fully understood about covid. Posters like you that are posting things as facts.... well that is just irresponsible.
Saying asymptomatic transmisson MAY occur.... well ANY grade 3 student in BC would tell you is not a a responsible statement.
right
so you are suggesting
we stop using our brains
and parse the details of what is known about this virus
so we can make intelligent decisions about our health and activities
and instead
cloak our lives in a solid mantel of fear?
this thread is so polarized
the internet is becoming silly
fear mongering is the rule for so many
the person you are responding to simply quoted a reliable source
and you believe you know better??
amazing

there is very limited current sports happening
so the stations are scrambling to fill air time
they have very little to offer at present
i tune in briefly from time to time
but sports radio is basically irrelevant

can't really blame him can you?
i mean he probably read these boards
and saw someeone proposed baertschi as a european scout at 1.6 or something million per year
so i'm sure judd wanted 2 million minimum
cuz what does sven know about scouting
anyone know of any scout on any nhl team who is even paid half a million ?
not sure what all the excitement is about anyway
he's a scout
who wants to be much more
the nucks organization does not have room for what his hopes are
let's all wish him good luck
maybe he'll find another organization that believes in him as much as he does
and as much as many others on here do
i think he is a fine asset but overhyped
hope he finds the right fit and prospers

so i have been out of the loop
was markstrom re-signed? didn't hear anything about that
so i checked.. and ... no
so the team will trade it's only under contract nhl goalie?
cuz? why?? when??
alrighty then
i'm sure marky is thrilledhow about he asks for 6 x 7.5 years with a nmc
what's the team gonna do when demko is gone?
let marky walk as an ufa?
what leverage does the team have? none
marky has it all
so yeah, marky is fully behind this proposal
why would the team do this???
i mean really? why??

I think you might be surprised. Lots of reports saying Tyson is not a joke right now . Probably one of the most physically gifted boxers of all time. He just might shock everyone . We shal see i guess.
that is merely hype
and you are buying into it
so it is working -

This discussion is silly but I feel there are some making it such more than others.
The last line is probably the best one you've posted in relation to this. Upon your return, please answer as to why you're changing people's words and using your own?
Purposely
ReplacedStart there.
Then move to:
We're trying to save lives. Safety and security will get us there.
It's ok to have different opinions. It's not ok to work them in with manipulation and game playing...especially in a time where people ARE having to do things they've never done before. Like me...haven't seen my son or daughter in law in over two months. Don't undermine that with your silliness. Life IS distorted right now and if you want to ignore that don't try to convince others of why it's ok.
A worldwide pandemic that's still in the "figuring out" stages and is killing people deserves for us to do things a little differently until is it more understood. And contained. But you go ask McDonalds when you can get back in. That's way more important and not distorted at all.wow you are reading a lot into my posts
manipulation?
seriously?
i give up
take care deb
i don't need this sort of nonsense

Meh, u are right about that, so if that's all it ends up being , i would be happy with that. I am just saying that Tyson is a total physical freak ( much like GSP), so if i was to put money on anyone to make history it would be Tyson.
i only appreciate that he is a freak
he does not really interest me
i am more traditional in my sporting interests
i wish to see the best in pro sports
not the wannabees masquerading sports as entertainment
-
man this discussion is silly
i get it that many wish to live from a fear perspective
i am knowledgeable about the risks
and will take appropriate precautions
the thing about safety and security is to maintain the same standards in every aspect of life
or life becomes distorted
i get it the virus is a new thing
but no one lives with other risks in life the way some propose to deal with this virus
keep perspective please
i'm out

The people bringing your food.
The people taking food to other patrons
The other patrons on their way to or from their table
Other patrons on their way to or from the washroom
people bringing food would wear masks, gloves etc
who brings food to other patrons? my server.. well see the line above this one
other patrons are going to purposely sneeze in my direction on their way to and from the bathroom?
man people have become dramatically over cautious about the world
do you even dare to drive i wonder ?
take the appropriate safety steps
and live your life with some degree of richness please
not from a perspective of fear and paranoia

They are looking at putting measures in place in order to accommodate social distancing. I saw one very creative use of clear, vinyl shower curtains...however, they'd have to be disinfected between parties.
nice
not sure why they would need to be replaced
if patrons were told to not touch them

So you believe droplets don't spread through coughs and sneezes?
well i tend to sit by myself
not sure where those droplets might come from ?
imaginary villians who might pass by my table to purposely sneeze on me ? -

Coughing and sneezing being two huge risks as they propel germs everywhere?
It's not drama...when I hear someone coughing at the grocery store, I leave as quickly as possible.
i think i might assess first if they are wearing a mask or not
and base any measures i take on that
not immediately jump to the most extreme response
-

so when are restaurants reopening with appropriate distancing measures in place ?

the real issue is
and it is the issue the caps addressed
is that other players would no longer want him as a team mate
he is corrosive to the notion of team building
i read a post that if ovi had done the same thing all would be ok
i doubt that
i think ovi would have been traded
sens went through team destructive social issues
and ended up moving both players involved
i know i would not want a player who did these things
as my team mate
if that person denigrated people who were most important to me personally
there would be a lot of practice fights if he stayed

Ya , well nobody though he still had speed either. He probably doent have the stamina as he would have had in his 20's, but he also didn't need much more then 2 rounds with those skills in his 20's. Even a 75% Tyson has a good chance of knocking these young kids out inside 3.
and you'd put money on that?
i know i wouldn't
he'll end up fighting other aging fighters only
who are also grasping to stay relevant
this whole thing is not serious boxing
but primarily entertainment
so if that is where your sports interest lie.. then i guess you are happy
-
man
smacks of a bit of desperation
age is undefeated
his recovery during breaks between rounds
will lag far behind every other younger opponent he may face
he simply is not as strong and nimble as younger fighters
his fights will need to be short or he will not survive them
and everyone will know this
but i guess there is entertainment value in seeing him box again
i mean, the rocky films did pretty well

What about all the other negative consequences of this virus due to lockdowns? Economic damage. Domestic abuse, mental health, starvation, child abuse, depression, suicide just to name a few. Yes I realize if you allow things to open freely you will have problems too as you mentioned there will be very small percentages of the younger population that is affected. No matter what route you take it’s a sad situation and we can’t just make this perfect for everyone.
your right Sweden is around 30 percent right now versus neighbouring countries that are at like 2 percent. If there is a second wave it likely won’t affect Sweden as they have more built in immunity then a country like Norway. We won’t know until this is over what was truly the right strategy. One area in Sweden where they screwed up was in the care homes and you’ll notice I’ve never suggested that we expose anybody that’s vulnerable and asa society we should even more to help those people in this crisis.
whatever route is taken it has to be sustainable. Already a lockdown is proving to be something that can’t be prolonged. Nothing has really changed since we closed down the country and now we’re reopening society because of outside pressure. Eventually we will be in exactly the same spot we were in March but severely damaged from the lockdown consequences.
I respect your opinion and when it’s all
said and done will know what was right and what was wrong . have a good day.
not sure there is a right way
the current approach is clearly impacted by the assumption that treatments and vaccines are coming soon
i do acknowledge that the outlook on these developments has been overly optimistic so far
there is one promising treatment/medication currently... others appear to be viable soon
but this approach could take the same course (and time) as successful treatment has taken for hiv
and a virus for which there is still not a vaccine (and it has been around for decades now)
it does seem more likely that some sort of compound medication regime will achieve success
but that clearly would take more time
no vaccine has been successfully developed for sars which hit in 2003
and this is a sars type virus
so right now the hope/faith of most seems to be that medicine and science is the answer
it may end up providing the strongest solutions
but the problem really is time

You don’t have to get so defensive just because someone else has a different opinion then you. I stated in my own post that there is risk in whatever decision you make. Whatever route a government takes it has to be sustainable. Shutting everything down only works for so long and as we can see the reopening trend is in full force. Dr Henry stated today that she expects us to be back to normal by next summer and that events greater then 50 people will need to wait until a vaccine. I will be shocked if we get a vaccine by next summer and more then likely it will be upwards of 2-3 years away if not longer. Sweden could reach herd immunity within the next couple months with a death rate just marginally above ours. I’m not suggesting that we remove every restriction as obviously social distancing, hygiene, avoiding establishments when sick etc should be followed. Closing businesses and restricting people is not sustainable for the long run. If we don’t get a vaccine at some point we have to face this virus head on. I respect your opinion and your right nobody truly knows what the right moves are. I’m just of the belief that there is a balance between public health and economic consequences. The post mortem on this crisis will be very interesting.
defensive?
that is how you view my post?
get real
(i thought i was being responsive
i always find it curious
when someone has a need to denigrate a response first
in hopes of strengthening their viewpoint
not sure why that need is present)
you wish to ignore pertinent facts i think
sweden is not close to herd immunity
last study i read put them close to 30%
show me better information .. not headlines that simply repeat your narrative
there are factors not fully known about the virus
the newer concerns about the impact on kids is only one of the latest developments
there may still be others
seems a bit odd to me to risk a nations health blindly

who is in a position to charge for pay per view?
most pro leagues have sold their broadcast rights already
teams/leagues cannot now compete against broadcasters who own those rights with pay per view
pay per view assumes a different model of earning from broadcasting games
that model is not available now

you really think
loui would permit a trade to detroit
i think he might just exclude most of the bottom teams in his 15 team no trade list
i'd bet detroit might be very near the top of his no go list

If they quarantined the elderly and people with underling conditions it possible to build herd immunity without an onslaught happening. A large percentage of deaths are from people in the care homes. Now I realize there is risk there as we don’t know if the virus can infect a second time. I’ve heard scenarios where if we don’t get a vaccine we could be dealing with this for 5-10 years. Still lots of questions.
you are certain
that the new developments involving children
swelling involving vital organs
is not a real thing then?
or were you planning to quarantine all the kids too ?
or you want to risk their future health ?
your position is nonsense
we do not know enough about this virus
but you want to spitball about it anyway ?

Coronavirus outbreak
in Off-Topic General
Posted
and i am happy to report
that my wish to dine out occasionally at my favourite places
is again restored
the feedback i received when i expressed this desire around a month ago
did not prevent this reality from happening
small comforts have been realized
and the infection rate in bc has continued to go down
am still baffled how that could possibly have have happened
