  1. Of all the players getting hype around here I would put my absolute highest chance of a complete bust on Nylander. Euro league that gives him TONS of room on the ice. Looks as soft as a baby's backside. Plenty of talent, but high risk of folding in the NHL IMO. A big winger like Ritchie may not have as high of a potential ceiling as a guy like Nylander, but seems to me he is bust proof. At worse he would probably top out as a physical 2nd line 20 goal guy in the NHL who stands up for his teammates.
  2. What I'm saying is that the more Torts' fingerprints were on the style of play, the worse the Canucks looked. The biggest tell tale is how the Sedins played. When have you ever seen Henrik dump and chase? Where did the cycle game go after Halloween? The minutes, the PK, the shot blocking. The twins game changed. At first they were champs about it. I actually thought it was amazing leadership shown by Henrik especially. He was thrown into these new capacities and minutes and was equal to the task. Eventually it wore him down and de-evolved his game. Some would blame Henrik and say it's because he's declining. Maybe so, but I say that's on Torts for not using the Sedins wisely. Nor did he adjust when it wasn't working in January. The AV story was stale, but he always trusted his best players and he got the best out of them because of that. Torts has tried to reinvent some of the Canucks best players and not only did it backfire on the stat sheet, the hockey was as boring to watch as a hot air balloon race.
  3. I'm sorry but Nylander looks like he should be on a Noxema commercial. He looks soft and feminine. Strikes me as a crybaby. I don't know if this means anything with respect to actual ruggedness, as I haven't really seen him play. But it's hard to ignore my gut feeling. Malcolm Gladwell might have something to say about it.
  4. Because it takes time to adjust to a new system. As soon as they did, fail.
  5. I just said I think he's drunk right this second and might be on the street. How is that disrespectful?
  6. I'm going to go out on a limb right now and guess that as I type this, Mike Gillis is very drunk, and possibly homeless.
  7. OK sorry your first line is so wrong. The product on the ice was very different this year. At first the Sedins looked better than ever. Then they killed penalties and blocked shots for a while. They played almost 30 mins a game. Then the cycle, the Art Ross bread n butter for the twins, was slowly coached out of them. Then Henrik started dumping the puck in and going to the corners for a nice puck battle. Nice one Torts, get Hank to dump and chase. Real sharp. Wouldn't you want one of the best playmakers in the game to keep the puck on his stick? Do you really think Sedins strength is in mucking the puck on a forecheck? Then they stopped producing points. Then they got injured. Your last paragraph is true. This roster can at best expect a first round exit even with the right coach. So let's at least get one that isn't a classless douchebag that makes the Canucks organization look completely bush league. ...And by that I mean fire Torts.
  8. I thought it was a bad idea to hire Torts in 2013 and I think it's a bad idea to keep him on another year. Even if I liked his system I can't stand his unprofessional antics. He just makes the organization look bad. He is bad for the brand in so many ways. I'm speculating here but I think he's high on refs hate list and the league officials. Calgary didn't help. The MG firing and Linden hiring was a big step toward gaining a bit of respect around the league. That needs to continue by showing Torts the door. I can't even picture Linden and Torts standing next to each other. They are so polar opposite in terms of class. Torts should feel privileged if Linden blew his nose on his tie.
  9. Good game. First time I've ever found myself cheering for the Kings. I hope someone knock the horse chiclets out of Couture's troll face. Lol at Regher with the perfect screen on his own net minder on that OT goal. What an oaf.
  10. See this is one thing thats been on my mind for a while. A lot of people seem to be praising Torts for the responsibility he seems to be taking. Sure, its better than someone lying or blind to their errors, but it just seems like nobody is actually listening to what Torts is saying. He says "I need to be better" and "Thats on the coaching staff" etc. Ya great for saying that, but you're right, you DO need to be better and yes there IS a lot that falls on the coaching staff. You also haven't shown me much to convince me you're capable of being better. Oh wow he's so honest and he's taking responsibility. He's also not a very good coach (IMO) and as arrogant as anything. A part of me wonders if he says stuff like "thats on me" just to sound good. Most people have an unconscious tendency to convey the exact opposite of what they truly are.
  11. No to Torts. Even if you like his coaching (which I do not), he makes the Canucks look like a donkey of an organization. Most arrogant person in hockey from my observation. Impulsive, immature, passive-aggressive, aggressive-aggressive, selfish. Trevor is no doubt concerned with the image of the franchise. How do you start to clean it up?Goodbye Torts. And don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  12. Benn's from my hometown Victoria BC. He was physically a bit of a late bloomer. Always a horse, but didn't get his size until later on. One of my favorite NHL players to watch.
  13. Columbus was so good for most of the game. It's hard for a team not to feel a deflated after that. The hill to climb to beat the Pens just became a small mountain. Also, the Pens are done next round if they beat CBJ. Also, watching Boone Jenner makes me think the Canucks should draft Nick Ritchie, who reminds me of an undrafted Jenner with a bit more skill.
  14. BS call on Foligno. Where was that for the Nucks in the cup final when Boston disrespected them at every turn. Edit. BS call on Neal.
  15. It's easy. Skill first, then size. Rank everyone based on pure skill and vision. Take the top 50 of those. Then select the 10 who have shown the size, strength, and physicality to push around smaller players and at least perform close to their standard against bigger players. Then look at attitude, real examples of "heart," leadership experience, sacrifice, team play, pedigree, coachability, and the teammates around him (ie who is making who look good?). You probably have a list of 5 or 6 players and one will certainly be available at #6. Crosby, Datsyuk, Kane, Toews, Bergeron, Sedins (prime). None are big guys but all can be game changers with big guys all around them.
  16. MacKinnon makes me want to jump off a bridge just on the off chance that reincarnation is legit and I have a 1 in 10 trillion chance at coming back as a human almost as talented as him in anything. It would be worth it.
  17. MacKinnon makes me want to... Root for the Canucks to tank tank tank.
  18. Remember what happens when the Bruins can't match skill? They would be out to club some baby seals like they always do. If the Wings slip past the Bruins (which I predict) look out for Detroit. I have them in the SCF. Babcock >> Julien.
  19. Yes. A much deeper team. Which is why they will win. Then again if the referee wasn't corrupt last night it would have been 2-2 going to OT and who knows? Series could well have been tied.
