panelguy
Is it true the Canucks are afraid to call up Steve Reinprecht, becauase they might lose him to waivers? In the playoffs teams can claim a player who's being called up . If it's true that stinks.
VMR
I don't he has to clear waivers during the playoffs.
Lord_E
You don't want to rob your farm team of their playoffs if possible
goalie13
According to an earlier post from someone that heard Gilman (Canucks' capologist) on 1040, waivers still apply in the playoffs. The team that picks up a player off waivers would not be able to use him until the season is over, plus Reinprecht's contract is over at the end of the year anyways, so no team would pick him up because they need him. However, a team like LA could put in a claim just to prevent him from suiting up for the Canucks. So until the Wolves are eliminated from the playoffs, there is no point in risking the call up. pimpcurtly
^^^^ Interesting loophole. I was under the impression that Reinprecht could still get claimed but couldn't play for the team that claimed him. So a team would only grab him so that he couldn't play for us. And I thought that was why he hadn't been brought up yet.
