G-52
My question is about the ufa/rfa and jul 1 "boundaries" I will use schultz as an example because it just happened, but this isnt about schultz at all.. It was my impression that schultz or any UFA/RFA are not allowed to even discuss signing contracts with teams, let alone sign one before jul first, so my question is, how the frack did edmonton sign schultz before jul 1st. PS, Edmonton sucks.

G-52
So this IS about Schultz... As far as I know Schultz didn't sign anything. They just both agreed to the terms. He will actually get signed tomorrow.

canuckelhead70
Turns out where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Justin Schultz, the most prized amateur free agent in quite some time, announced today that he has chosen to accept a contract offer from the Edmonton Oilers. He’ll sign a two-year deal at the entry-level maximum, presumably tomorrow.

Jägermeister
He told Anaheim he'd sign with them too! Maybe he goes back on his word again?
mrsasaki
They were allowed to talk because a loophole in the CBA caused Anaheim to lose schultz's rights last sunday or whenever it was. Other players under contract can not talk to teams until their contract expires, which will be July
