The Colorado Avalanche are happy to welcome Manny Malhotra to the team! Malhotra was acquired from Vancouver in a trade that sent Justin Falk the other way. " We believe that Manny is a perfect fit on our third line. He is a quality penalty killer, great defensively, and a character guy. We were able to trade Justin away because, after seeing Stefan Elliott in rookie camp this week, we believe he is ready to seize that #6 role" commented GM H2.

It is believed that Torrey Mitchell will shift over to wing, and Ryan Smyth is on the block, for as little as picks or a depth forward/d man. For a team that is lacking offence, Smyth could be a cheap and valuable addition. D man Jonas Holos was also called up today from the Lake Eerie Monsters.

Looks good. You however do not have sole negotiating rights with Arnott, and if he starts the year as an FA, expect many teams to bid on his services. Not the Av's, but I can't see a guy like that go without multiple offers in this league. Just a heads up so you don't rely on him in your starting roster =P

On behalf of the Vancouver Canucks organization I would like to officially announce that the Vancouver Canucks are not making any more trades as the deadline approaches. We are happy with our lineup moving forward. Rumors have been circulating that Cory Schneider was available, this is not the case. I will not be moving Schneider before the deadline, let alone anytime after the deadline. Thank you to all who have approached our organization and good luck on the remainder of your dealings.

See you when the season starts.

Burkie.
