Riviera82 Posted May 17, 2013 Share Posted May 17, 2013 Are we still arguing about the Stanley Cup Final? Why dont we all just agree that the whole team sucked, Luongo included for 4 games. However, since many of you want to absolve Luongo of any blame in the SCF, what is the excuse for the 3 straight years of Chicago meltdowns? I seem to recall the Canucks scoring a few goals in those series', and yet we only managed to barely eke out 1 series win. The problem with Luongo is that he has been branded with all these high and mighty titles. World class, elite, best goalie on the planet. The man has been put on such a high pedestal only to crash and burn every time. It seems to me that if even a very ordinary team (nevermind a Presidents Trophy winner) is employing "the best goalie on the planet", they should probably be able to squeeze out 1 championship in 6 years despite a lack of scoring. Maybe if Luongo wasn't falsely built up so high he'd be cut a bit more slack by fans and media, and yet he still wanted his tires pumped up by a guy who has achieved more than Luongo most likely ever will.
