MSG News 2013:

Offseason Edition.

The New York Rangers are making it official this morning and setting their 2013-14 season Front Office Budget.

The official Medical and Training Budget will sit at 16 million dollars. The remaining 19 million dollars available will be spent on Player Development.

We fully reviewed our needs and goals as an organization and determined no less than 14m could go into Medical, and No less than 15 million was needed for player development, the remaining 6 million failed to reach the minimum threshold for Player Relations and so was optimized in the two departments of most use to our club. This concludes our Front Office Budget announcement for the 13-14 season, thank you.

REPORT: KIPRUSOFF TELLS FINNISH TEAM HE'S RETIRING FROM NHL

Calgary Flames veteran goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff has reportedly decided to retire.

According a report from Finnish news agency STT-Lehtikuva tweeted Tuesday by Vancouver-based NHL hockey writer Juha Hiitela, the 36-year-old has told the Finnish national team he's done with his NHL playing career.

"Kiprusoff has told to Finnish national team that he is retiring," read the tweet. "If Calgary has not announced it, you guys can do that. #Flames #Kipper"

The Finnish national team also named its candidates for the 2014 men's hockey team for the Sochi Olympics on Tuesday and Kiprusoff is not on the list.

"As we indicated when we addressed the media on June 14, having just spoken with Miikka at that time, we realized that if pushed for an answer Miikka would have said that he was finished with his professional career," the Flames said in a statement on Tuesday.

"In light of our most recent meeting with him, the statement attributed to him by the Finnish National Team does not come as a surprise. However, as we have said consistently, we will continue our dialogue with Miikka."

Kiprusoff played in 623 career games with the San Jose Sharks and Flames, going 319-213-71 with a .912 save percentage and a 2.49 goals-against average.

He led the Flames out of the first round of the playoffs only once, backstopping the team all the way to the 2004 Stanley Cup Final.

This past season, he was limited to 24 games by injury and performance, and he finished 8-14-2 with a 3.44 goals-against average and .882 save percentage.

Kiprusoff was drafted by the Sharks in the fifth round (116th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

Geezus I'm screwed..... Philly bought out Bryzgalov.... Nashville in the market for a starting goalie!

well depends if bryz gets a new contract at another team or if he moves to the khl

may the lames keeps an eye on him ...we´ll see

good news for the blues though..now there are 2 options..mason is the starter there next season..or the flyers going for another goalie ..may a 50/50 Tandem?

The Goalie caroussel will be pretty active in the off season

yeah..but what could luo change there ??

another big contract who may not bring expected numbers

we´ll see :)

Yea in a perfect world for me, Luo or Mike Smith would go to Philly and Bryz would go back to Phoenix where he excelled under little pressure.

I hope Bryzgalov stays in the NHL...his interviews >

Schneider and Schroeder to Philly for Couts and Simmonds.

Canucks sign Bryz for 2 years at 2m per to take media pressure off Lu. With his amazing quotes the media won't have time to call out Lu on his bad start to the season.
