Congrats to Carolina for making hte playoffs. Even though Nash, Fisher, and Gilbert are not in the playoffs, it's good to see them contribute in helping the team make it! Nice work!

Gilbert was fantastic before he got hurt!

And here's hoping Nashville has the 1st overall pick in this league!

Presidents Day in Florida

For the second consecutive season the Panthers are taking home the Presidents trophy. Entering the Florida dressing room post game wouldn't make you think so, though there is definitely pride about the clubs accomplishments, the focus hasn't shifted. "It's been a crazy few years, from being the guys that no one really thought twice about, to having this huge target on our backs every night, just seeing how quick the transition has been for us, it's really been surreal, from being a bottom-3 team just 3 years ago, and having now won back to back presidents trophies, it's been amazing" said starting goaltender Corey Crawford. The team has been on a mission the entire season to help erase the bad memories of past seasons, namely last seasons defeat at the hands of eventual cup champion New York Islanders. "It's been a process, we're trying to play the right way, use our speed and try to bring our game to the opposition, it's been tough for Kaner and I to watch from the sidelines the past few weeks but we all know what the goal is in here and we'll all be ready to go come Wednesday" said captain Jonathan Toews. The group has very high expectations of themselves, and anything short of a Stanley Cup championship will be thought of as a disappointment. "We've come a long way the past few years, I think management has put us in the position where we have all of the pieces in the locker room to do this thing and it's now up to us to play the way we are capable of." said James Neal.

There was criticism of the team that they relied too heavily on toughness, and the teams lack of goal scoring was apparent in last years playoff run, they felt like needed to use their main strength to their advantage, which is the skill and speed of the group, the club addressed that on deadline day acquiring Max Talbot and Marian Hossa while cutting ties with fan favorite tough guys Chris Stewart and Chris Neil, "it's very tough moving guys like that, but when we feel like we have the opportunity to put our group in a better position to win a championship we will never be afraid to make those moves. Hossa and Talbot, two veteran players who are proven playoff performers, and both have won hockey's greatest prize. "It's been a smooth transition, it's a great group of guys here and from the moment we stepped foot in the locker room it's been clear what the goal is, and that is going to continue to push us into the playoffs" explained Max Talbot.

The team will be without it's top defensive pairing of Erik Karlsson and Oliver Ekman-Larsson heading into the playoffs, but others are confident they can help fill in the void, "It's really tough, those guys have been playing big minutes every night for us for three years now, we always know they're back there, it's definitely a huge loss but we have other guys who are ready to step up and fill the void". said GM OTTS. "It's tough, not being out there when it matters most but there is nothing we can do about it, we are going to be rooting our asses off on the sidelines and provide the other guys with as much encouragement and help that we can give them, it's been a team effort the entire season and it will continue into the playoffs" Said Karlsson. The group has a lot to prove, and many on the outside will continue to critisize the group, but it's clear who their biggest critics are, and that is themselves.

The Panthers are expected to ice the following lineup come Wednesday:

Florida Panthers Playoff Roster

Brandon Saad - Jonathan Toews - Patrick Kane

James Neal - Charlie Coyle - Marian Hossa

Held down that 29th spot for most of the year, only to give it up by 2 points in the last few games of

the year... C'mon draft lottery!

Good luck to all the playoff teams!--we are off to Predator Ridge Golf Club.
