RKennis41
Toronto-Vancouver F Daniel Winnik 2016 Tor 7th Round pick (conditional) 2015 Van 2nd Round pick 2015 Van 5th Round pick D Andrey Pedan F Tom Sestito Canucks get a great defensive forward in Winnik, he's a +15 on a losing Leafs team. Leafs get a 2015 2nd Round draft pick and a 2015 5th Round pick. Leafs get tough guy Defenseman minor league prospect Andrey Pedan, this is the guy who is tearing up the AHL with his fighting ability, earlier this season he knocked out Jarred Tinordi, the Canadiens tough Defenseman prospect. Pedan's skills as a Defenseman however still need to be nurtured, he's like a young Dylan McIlrath. Pedan is a former 3rd round draft pick of the New York Islanders in 2011. Tom Sestito is added to the deal to give his NHL career another shot, perhaps he will prove himself as more talented than McLaren or Orr were in the Leafs lineup. If Sestito plays well and the Leafs re-sign him for next season the Canucks get the Leafs 2016 7th Round pick. While it may seem like the Canucks are giving up a lot in the deal they aren't losing one of their top AHL scoring prospects such as Grenier or Gaunce. It is possible that Pedan will never become a regular NHL player. However, for that same reason the Leafs don't lose anything because they are getting those Vancouver draft picks to keep them warm at night. DrChill
Why? Why do we need another 3rd line forward? We have lots.
thejazz97
I'd rather have Pedan + our picks than a pending UFA + a 7th.

Warhippy
This is bordering on the obscene for over payment. Winnik is another young tweener D forward. We've a glut of those regardless of his "potential" That 7th is what again? Next years? Oh great. So we wait for nothing instead of getting nothing this year. By extension The Canucks 2nd could possibly be a future NHL player. Almost all of the last decades Norris Calibre D men not named Chara Lidstrom or Doughty have come from the 2nd round. Webber, Keith Subban etc. Also See other 2nd round D men making HUGE waves in the league over the last 5 years. 5th round pick, under a former scout named Benning could also be a huge steal for us. In a deep draft who knows what is possible. Sestito is persona non grata right now. Might as well not even be named. Pedan has turned in to one of our most dynamic D men in the AHL is HUGE knocks people out with ease scares everyone and skates like he's only 5 foot 10. This deal is so bad one would think Travella wrote it.
